Another round to Skagit today for cherries. Price went up $1/lb. We are going through about 4-5 lbs of cherries/week, it’s the only fruit anyone’s eating in the house since it’s so good.
Stopped at the Skagit seafood market, and it looks like they have all the ingredients I’d need to make a seafood paella. I might have to get a mortgage on the house though! TD bought me a paella pan a few years ago, and other than the grill, we didn’t have a cooking surface large enough for it. Have since got a Blackstone griddle, so that should be large enough.
Do need to make an executive decision on which stove I want. I was talking to my MIL and she really doesn’t like her Bosch stove much. That, along with a noisy fan when the oven kicks on kind of cements m6 decision.

My pinto beans soup is done, think I cooked the beans a bit to long. I'm tired. Worked my butt off in the sewing room, the guys are coming tomorrow to carry stuff upstairs for us. I don't know where in the hell they are going to put it. Don't want it outside and there is too much for this garage. The others are too dirty. Maybe the front porch?? for some of it. I emptied the pattern cabinets except for the top drawer and want to seal it in gallon bags and put in the bottom drawer, can't find the stupid bags. Yes, I am terribly forgetful. Hubs got boxes for the machines and we put them in and packed them full of fabric for protection. Everything in there is packed except 2 big gorgeous very glass lamps. One is a victorian, the other has a whole big glass base, likely had it for 50 years. Put them up so the cats wouldn't break them. I asked hubs how are we going to pack these, he just shook his head, well one of them went to Houston and came back from Houston so here's hoping. So much to do, so little time to do it. You remember hubs said I didn't need all that time, now he is saying only 2 weeks, LOL! He said we may have the guys come back this Friday if we can't get it all done tomorrow. That's going to stop me packing and pitching and Tuesday doc appointments. I have dishes to put in the d/w and clean laundry to hang up. No rest for the wicked. I knew B2 would give me a boost and it has, so need to keep it up till I fly out. I was going to make corn bread, not sure I have enough energy left to do it, but it would be good. I think I have the cornmeal ground already. We always packed things like our antique hurricane lamps, and antique china cabinet doors in the personal vehicles we were driving to our move destination. Is that an option instead of crossing fingers that they don’t break in the moving truck?

I have been kind of a slug today. Got a lot of laundry done, but not much else really. I did binge watch several episodes of What We Do in the Shadows, so there's that.

I'm cooling the outdoors, to paraphrase my Nana. the AC is running, but both pups are enjoying fresh air outside. the only thing open is the side door, but still. at least the oven is off now, the squash is done roasting. I'm currently working on the beef and kale, and debating what (if anything) I want for dinner. nothing I have on hand sounds interesting, but I do need to eat something. maybe I'll pan-fry a black bean burger. that's solid protein, so I won't need to eat much to be sated for the night.
ETA - eh, scratch that. the two pans I would use* are both dirty. well, I'm using one rn for ground beef. 🤢 and, I've been snacking on the roasted butternut as I cook. so I might just be alright.
*no amount of oil or cooking spray prevents the ones I like from sticking badly to my tri-ply SS fry pans. the indestructible T-fal was used this am for a breakfast burrito and I haven't gotten around to washing it yet. 🤷♀️

Yes, that is an option and likely what we will do is take them. I have quite a few things we would like to do that way but can't do them all.
I admired a gorgeous mirror in the house and the lady is giving it to us!! I think its an antique and is beautiful, my DIL wanted it, but I'm keeping it. They also said we can have the desk in the 3rd bedroom. I was worried because I need one and the one here is 6 ft long and too big for up there, so that works out nicely.
We still have too much stuff.

Hi All. Giramomma, try ordering suits for your DD from Amazon. Not everything comes in one day, often 2-3 days order at least 3 and return the rejects. Try Target online too.
CG glad you found some Men to haul stuff out of your basement.
Andi that house is cute, but kitchen is very small for someone who likes to cook.
We have used the dunks in the wetlands pond. The pond forms mostly on next door neighbors land. Sometimes I just buy them and give them to neighbor.
I had planned to mostly clean & do laundry but mom called and asked if I borrowed her hairdryer. 🤔 I said no, then she asked me for DS’s #. I told her DS did not borrow hairdryer. I went to Target and bought her a new Hairdryer, but would prefer something lighter and simpler. I would welcome any suggestions. We looked around house, could not find it. Hoping my DB has some ideas. Moved laundry and picked up shirt I bought online from Ann Taylor.
On Friday I matched old socks and bagged for charity. Dropped in church collection for needy. Next week they are collecting Cereal, Jelly and canned fruit for church food pantry.
DD found Ants in her room before she left, so I sprayed her room yesterday and washed her bedding. I bought a new mattress pad, waiting on other laundry to finish before I wash it. She is working a flight for RNC next week, They reserved her a hotel room, but it is all the way in brookfield. She said she would stay here as long as one of us would run her to the airport at 6 am next Monday. I said I would do it, but DH might do it for me. (He tends to sleep a bit later in Am than me, but I think he will do it). We are about 10 minutes from airport, Brookfield is 20-25 minutes. DS rode his Harley to Buffalo NY with a friend this weekend. Hopefully he gets home safe. He said it was 10 hours.
I am listening to Lisa Wingate’s new book Shelterwood. I have about a day and a half to finish it before it goes poof. I borrowed from library. It is good.

Apparently my brain isn't fully developed yet at 55 because I'm the same way. I stopped at Kohl's to pick up an order today and noticed their big display of Fall dresses. Yes, I know retail is always a season ahead, but when it's over 80 degrees outside the last thing I want to do is shop for anything with long sleeves.

Hubs has been stacking taped and ready boxes to get them out of the way so we can get through the house.
I asked him if I could see if the guys would clean up our landscaping for us. We are going to ask. And look into a make ready cleaning crew, though I know several people who have done that and the houses aren't very clean when done. But if I can get help with some stuff I can do other things. He needs help getting the stuff out of the basement, he is not strong as he was.
I told him I'm doing good but have some docs appointments and other things coming up and going to cut into my time.
He got the 3 of the doors done and painted, they really look nice. The inside of the basement door and outside of the door from the garage to the house had not been painted. We did them the same color as the outside and it really looks good, glad he did that.
He is going to be here after I leave trying to get rid of stuff I'm sure.
He is thinking of pulling his tool trailer up to Washington behind the motorhome. Then loading my car on his flat bed trailer and taking it up. We can put the paintings, lamps, glass shelves and TV's in it so they likely won't get broken. Then he can put the patio furniture in the truck bed and other items so make that trip worthwhile.
I bought one of those pill dispenser things that looks like a shot but you put the pill in the end. Going to see if I can get the gabapentine down Smokey before we fly. I need to do a pill the night before, than 2 hours and 1 hour for flying. I sure hope so or people will likely hear a howling cat all the way up. We are in the seats with more room but may need the ones right behind first class to get him under the seat.

Just finished getting DD2’s lunch ready for daycare tomorrow. Also cleaned up the kitchen. I made 2 different apple fritters this weekend and neither were a hit with me or the family so threw them away along with the rest of kitchen trash.
Yesterday, both DDs and I went to Hobby Lobby for some things that DD1 wanted. She got what she wanted and I let DD2 pick out a craft item. She got a Bluey kinetic sand-type toy. What the f;$:& was I thinking? That stuff gets everywhere. I’ve since cleaned up the mess and hiding the rest of the sand. She can play with it outside.
Now to pay bills. 😔😩

Carrot's bus was due back at 5am tomorrow, but the ferry across Lake Michigan was cancelled, so now they have to go all the way around. Can't say as I'm unhappy about not having to get up at 4.

Mrs. T is having a difficult time trying to find somewhere to move to, after changing her mind and deciding to stay somewhere in the general area.
The amount of money she is willing and able to pay monthly for housing (she has told me the number) and how that isn’t even enough for her to find somewhere suitable, is really discouraging to me. Because while Mister and I have been getting along better lately, I am still uncertain about my future with him.
If what Mrs. T can pay is still not enough to live somewhere decent, that confirms what I already thought about how much the local housing market has changed so drastically, and not in a good way.
One of my coworkers started a conversation today, saying he had just been on Zillow just because he was curious, and it’s crazy how much houses around here cost these days. He immediately upset my nerves because of what he said, because his reasoning was racist, even though he is black like I am. My feathers were ruffled because he seemed to have forgotten who he is and where he came from, but instead of focusing on that, I told him that the housing market here got crazy because during the pandemic, investors started buying property here because it was cheap, and paying cash and over the asking price, which was more than regular people could compete with, and that’s what drove the prices up and got us to where we are today. That is fact, and I preferred to fuss with him about that, than call him out on the other bullshit he said.
Anyway, Mrs. T has been trying to find somewhere to move to, to get her children settled before the school year starts, in less than a month now. She has shared with me the issues with some of the properties she has viewed. She is not asking for too much for the amount of money she is willing to pay imo. She is moving from a 3600sf home, and willing to move to one half that size or even smaller, and so far, that is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, even with the amount of money she is willing to spend, which is more than I could afford.
That makes the issues between Mister and I even more worrisome, because I will never stay where I’m not wanted. But where the fuck will I go if I leave? My house is not an option, and even if I sell it, the housing market has gotten so crazy that I still can’t afford to buy another house that I’d be comfortable living in. Especially not when I’m all about trying to retire asap. My whole plan has always been to not have mortgage payments after maybe a couple years after I retire.
Imma do whatever I need to do, like I have always done, but I swear ‘fore cheese and crackers that I really, really want to just sit my ass down and not have to worry about working or money within the next 6 years…. MAX.

The portable A/C is finally quiet. I turned it off as it is 76° outside down from 93° . It is only 9pm so if I can stay awake I may even be able to sleep in my bedroom tonight. We have a tiny break tomorrow and Tuesday where highs will be in the upper 80s and then it is back again to the high 90s.. No global warming, deniers? My super fluffy behind

Good morning, illustrious invisipeeps, heroically toiling on in the heat and humidity of July. Welcome to Monday. I hope this day offers you respite from broiling and that no one pees in your Cheerios. I'm getting old(er). It took me all day yesterday and last night to recover from the show Saturday, setting up and breaking down and everything in between. I feel okay now. Our next show, in two weekends, is a two day affair. We'll drive up Friday to set mostly up, then go back early Saturday to finish and to man the booth, rinse and repeat Sunday. It's at another small Cape town. As long as it's not too hot, should be okay. I'm glad to live in a seaside town. The prevailing breeze keeps the truly awful humid heat away. Today I'll sort through some pictures. DH is going to drop some off at a nearby town for a gallery display. Plus I have the usual assorted errands to run. Yesterday was gray and rather foggy in the morning again. So I took a photo of Queen Ann's lace growing beside the dunes:

If he stayed another year, he'd have at least a 10% down payment. It probably wouldn't be in the best neighborhood; and we are fortunate that our hood is not inner city Milwaukee hood, so going back to living in the hood wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. 3) I am still pretty set on doing things the hard way now, at 49.. Because I know myself, and I will find it soul crushing if I can't fully stop working by 60. Being harder on myself now, means the more likely I can stop working by 60 later. It also gives us the resources to ensure that I don't have to rely on medicare-only treatment, either for my cancer or for old age.

Ow. Preventative regimen works best if I remember to take it. Ow ow ow stupid migraines. Very solid day of running around yesterday got everything essential done, including washing basically every item of summer clothing we own. Except for the weeks worth of dirty socks I found in DS’ backpack this morning We own way too many clothes. Groceries, unpacked, essential cleaning, necessary mealprep, made DS practice cello for the first time in a week (turns out I needed a break from making him practice as much as he did). Airtag fell off PP’s collar somewhere in/around the house, can’t find it, driving me lowkey nuts. DS whacked his foot really hard on the pool just for funsies-still limping a bit this morning but it was the damn apocalypse last night. Now we’re back to the basic work/camp gauntlet with a crapload of dr appointments woven in. I don’t think I know how to relax anymore, apart from lumping on the sofa and doomscrolling/reading.

Apparently the AC wasn't just turned down when I was one of the only people here Friday, it is actually broken. It's quite toasty in here this morning.

soupandstew, I sincerely hope you are safe. Reed Timmer is posting the storm surge at Sargent Beach, and it chills me to the bone, considering this is "only" at Category 1 hurricane. (What I don't miss about living in FL.) Hoping I can reach my air conditioning company to come out & repair our unit. (They were closed for the holiday weekend.) It is NOT comfortable inside our house. Humidity is ramping up, and we've got rain in the forecast this afternoon.
