It's raining this morning and has been lightly raining all night.
Before this big project to change the drainage, the sump pump would be running non-stop. It's not a storm so I don't know if the fix to the downspout worked.
I am hearing the sump pump but it is not non stop.
I hope it stays that way and I need some grass to grow.

Watching Invisible Monsters. Was everyone in the 70s a freaking serial killer? DH said everyone needs a hobby and it wasn't like they had internet.🤣 Having to explain to Gwen about the lack of cells phones, internet etc has been interesting when Watch all these shows. It really was a different time. I was telling T2 one day that I just remembered that I'm older than the internet. She gave me a look that said "you said it, not me." I like T2's sense of humor! Did she back up a few steps before she said that?

Thank you for the advice. I meant to replace it before the trip, but I procrastinated about that too. I procrastinate a LOT. If it weren't for the last minute, nothing would get done. I have no motivation. <sigh> I am the queen of procrastinating. I get work stuff done on time, but personal stuff is always last minute.

I'm making a chicken sandwich at 8:45 am. It sounded good and the Walmart brand chicken patties in the blue bag taste just like a McChicken. Just in case anyone was wondering. I like their spicy ones, but they are hard to find lately. I chop one into a big salad.

The only ancestors I know of that were in the country that far back were Iroquois, who I believe fought for the British. I suspect they wouldn't be too happy with my pedigree.

I just saw a large skinny dog wandering around in front of my place. He has a harness on, so he belongs to someone. I went out to see if I could find him, but he was already gone. I hoped he'd have a tag with a phone number on it. Hopefully I'll see him again. I was going to feed him since he's really skinny.

Speaking of people who need hobbies, what is up with people who need to push those tracts or "Christian" paperwork on people? What is Christian about accosting people minding their own business simply because you get jollies handing that stuff out? I was meeting my trainer at the park last week so was practicing some of my stick work before he got there. Saw a dude approach 2 younger women uninvited to converse so I kept an eye on them. They eventually extricate themselves and I knew dude was going to approach me which he did, tries to make small talk. Then starts asking me if I know Jesus died for my sins. I was so glad that a 6'4" bald dude, also with sticks was going to be joining me - and I hate to say that but it's true although I managed to shoo the guy away before my trainer got there. What I wanted to ask the guy was how many men he was interrupting that night to tell about his lord and savior. But you gotta limit those interactions instead of engaging.

I had an Italian cooking class this morning. OMG! It was fabulous! The chef gave us his tips on making mushroom risotto that is out of this world. He used a ThermoMix, now I’m trying to figure out how to justify both the price and the kitchen real estate for one of these. TD had a cow at the VitaMix price, he might quite possibly have an elephant about this! We also got a tour of the kitchen galley. Their dishwasher takes one minute, and it does everything. Why does mine take 2 hours? I guess dishwashers now clean better, but they take so long! DD2s new house has 2 dishwashers. For them, that's good. They're always running one (and it's full). Life goals.

I have always wished my house had a basement, but now maybe I don't really want a basement. I guess I just thought you got a lot more space without doing anything ever. I'm not always the sharpest knife in the drawer. Water in the basement is almost never an issue here unless you don't clean your gutters or you have grading issues.

finnime I'm so glad the festival was a success. And your tulips are gorgeous! Back in the 80's the museum association that I worked for decided to host an event coordinated with a contemporary weaving exhibit. They named it "Sheep to Shawl" and arranged for a local man to bring some of his sheep to shear on site, along with local weavers carding, spinning, and weaving. That morning the rancher arrived with three big sheep in the back of his pickup which were supposed to jump out into a little temporary pen on the museum lawn. Said sheep declined the invitation of the open tailgate, requiring me and another employee to climb into the truck to offer encouragement. The truck bed was generously adorned with semi-liquid fecal matter and when the sheep finally jumped forward, the brown sludge was catapulted backwards onto us. Then the ground crew that was supposed to funnel the sheep into their pen got cold feet at the sight of several hundred pounds of wooly mutton coming at them and jumped clear, allowing the sheep to free range. Sheep are fast and their wool is filled with lanolin which makes them very slippery to hold onto. Ultimately they were caught and shorn. Eventually I got the sheep poop and lanolin off me. Needless to say, the local TV station was present to cover the event and they did. By dark, most of our small community had seen yours truly in my brown-speckled glory

Why does mine take 2 hours? I have one, purchased circa 2012. I adore it and use it weekly. DH and DS basically won’t eat any other red sauce than what I make in it; also good for kneading bread, making custard, etc. Since you have actual time I am confident you could far outstrip my expertise in short order You might also check for the older (cheaper) versions on ebay et al, mine is a TM31 I think-no smart chip capability but still weighs chops grinds cooks etc. German engineering, meant to last. Plus you‘ll save money bc you won’t need a Vita Mix

I've lived here 40 years and can count on one hand the number of times my basement has flooded.
If it happens it's due to a HUGE storm that overwhelms the sewer system or the Missouri is swollen to where the water table rises.
It's never been anything a pump, shop vac and a dehumidifier can't clean up. ::knocks on wood::
I much prefer a basement in severe weather than having to hide in the bathroom.

When this woman drove away, I realized she probably pulled over seeing me as a target since I was waiting for the bus. You make a decent point though; on weekdays I am usually waiting with at least one man waiting for the bus.

Daughters of the American Revolution, an organization of people who can trace their ancestry to people present during the American Revolution against Britain. Which means absolutely zero in terms of why I should listen to this person about our modern-day American community. But has a lot to do with her desire for selective enforcement favoring people of European origin! And don't even get me started on what the "American" colonists did to the indigenous persons already living here. So racist white people. Got it. Thanks. I wish this was less accurate

Enjoying my well-earned green tea after wash/wax/detail/vacuum session for the car. Looks fab sitting on the driveway! Dishwasher and washer will run again today, and I need to wash the kitchen floor later.

My vacuum cleaner appears to have died. I'm not amused. It must've signed a pact with my calculator. My good one, the one that prints a tape just stopped working. I do use it year-round, so I got a lot of mileage out of it, but was surprised how much the price has jumped up since the last time I needed to buy one. Oh well...

I need to get moving, also. my newspaper actually was delivered this morning (late), so I'm still sitting here with the magazine and the crossword puzzle. pups are out cold bc I've been a slug.
I need to shower, and fold a couple loads of laundry. there's not much else on tap for today TBH. the four active Boston major sports teams all played yesterday (3W, 1L) so there's nothing I really want to watch today. I'll find hockey later for background noise, I think. maybe the Sox? idk.

I really need to just sit and watch a movie or something.
We've got the usual Sunday stuff done. Meal planning, DH and Ds go grocery shopping, and while they are dong that I get the missy's homework done with her.
I have to run some errands today. Trying to brace myself for that.

I finished unknitting. 800+ stitches.
It's all fixed now. Which is the important part. I'm making something for me, and I'm happy to make it right rather than have it done quickly.

I went ahead and ordered little guy the Oyla magazine. Like hubs said he can read anything and he is way above his grade level on reading so why not? It will be one of his birthday presents, a bit pricey $84 a year. Apparently it's rather new as you can buy copies from 2020 forward. He is interested in all the type of science, space, and everything so we will see how it goes.
It doesn't sound interesting but I'm also buying him a good electric toothbrush instead of the kiddie ones. The head is small so he can use it.
Now I need to think of a couple of fun things for him and will likely take him to his favorite place for lunch, Subway, unless he wants to go elsewhere. He sure didn't want to see grandpa leave. Little guy has a soft heart. He is all excited that DD had gotten a wheelchair/walker so we can take her more places. Will make it easier on me too. I can just see him wanting to push her around. Got to love that little boy. Whoever knew we would have a grandson that likes his aunt. I hope it continues, once we get there I think he will as he will be used to her so don't see that much difference.
The tractor was out there at midnight and when he was done at 1 he started another field across the road. We can't tell if they were spraying or planting. Those tractors are massive anymore and can go around these big fields in short order. Just extremely unusual to see that now. When they had smaller tractors they had to do that but not now. Also they are so big, they have to be careful.
The wind here is really strong today, we have the windows open airing out the house. It's 77 out. I wish I had the 2 basement windows cleaned, I may go down and do that and air it out too, they have never been open down there. The windows are in a store room area so I've never cleaned or opened them. Need to make sure I can.
And I am so happy to have a home with a dry basement. Our 1st old, little house would flood every once in awhile. I think mainly because we had a well next to the wall and it would get too fall in huge downpours. It was a mess to clean.
I haven't done a lot today. I couldn't sleep last night and must have been 2 or later but when I did, I slept well after that. Hubs said he didn't and I know he was tired, probably the time change.
I sorted all our pills out and ordered what we need for 40 days so that is done. I think DD and I are just taking 2 little carry ones, if we need clothes up there can buy some. Hubs said its not going to be very warm so I don't think we will need shorts.
I just saw a turkey in the yard, he wasn't scared and he was pretty, kind of bronze colored feathers on his back and by his tail. Since he had color I assume its a male. We see them all over in the field behind us but not in the yard. Pretty bird.

eh, the hell with house productivity today. I moved the laptop outside to sit in the sun. I'll be scrolling LinkedIn, etc and hopefully throwing in some applications. today wasn't supposed to be sunny here, so this is bonus time and Vitamin D.

I'm a little annoyed with myself tbh.

Honestly that sounds lovely. I need some like serious R&R time. Instead, I'm productive and it doesn't even scratch the surface of stuff I need to get done.

I finally got my 2 hour respite at the nail salon this afternoon and that massage chair was just what I needed after yesterday's yard work. 12+ women, an adorable 4-year old boy, spa music on the audio and NBA on the tube. One client was teaching the staff the Spanish words for various polish colors.
