We got four hours for Good Friday, so I only have to work until noon. Then I have a friends lunch at a mom and pop Mexican place, grocery pickup, and maybe if I'm feeling super productive I'll hit the garden center at Home Depot.

it's raining again here today, and we're all over it. Punk is pouting at my feet, and LD went back to bed. I didn't even get out of bed til 8am. and then I opened an email that just pissed me off, about something outside my control that is somehow my problem. so I'm gonna just ignore everything that doesn't *have to* get done today....which isn't much. there might be a nap in there somewhere as well.

I worked last Saturday on a big upgrade, so took yesterday off and today is a holiday.
I am up since my cleaning lady is here today, but will have lunch with friends later today, which will be fun. We are having rain lately, which is not the norm for us, but better than the drought I guess.

I had read long COVID was making people ill, but no I haven't read how bad it is. I need to read about that, not sure why I haven't. DH's cousin is severely and permanently disabled from Covid. Her heart and lungs were badly affected, and her kidneys compromised. She is on oxygen, and may face dialysis at some point. The steroids used to help her breathe have destroyed her immune system and caused her to balloon in weight. She was an accountant but can't work anymore so she moved in with her 94-year old mother. She has to restrict her exposure to other people because of her lack of immunity, and can rarely see her children and grandchildren. I would have a lot more sympathy if she and her family weren't rabid anti-vaxers. Her unvaccinated husband died of Covid shortly before she got it. Doctors are just beginning to discover the full range of long Covid problems, and more will surface over time, including genetic changes that might impact future generations.

Well, I think I figured out the problem with the doctor's office. It's the staff. I talked to the doctor this morning, and he's ordering a prescription to help DS get through whatever is causing all of the coughing. Then, not 10 minutes after I completed the call with the doctor, his office called to tell me DS had "missed" his appointment. To which I responded, no, the doctor called me, and we'd just finished our conversation. The woman on the other end of the phone was obviously uncomfortable. I hope they fix the SNAFU's at his office.

I slept in this morning because...why not. Going to try and get a little house cleaning done and hit the road about 11 to get DS.

Huh, apparently I am experiencing hot flashes now. I haven't been able to figure out if I am sick or something else is going on so I googled it. The key is that when I go to take my temperature I am 100% normal because it's over with before it registers. Ugh. I hate being a woman sometimes.

So DD will be 23 in August. She started teaching dance again last Fall. The class was finishing up their recital dance last night. The song is an ode to the writer’s mother.
A conversation during a break lead to one of the dancers exclaiming to DD “Wait. You have a mother?” “Yes, of course. Why would you think I don’t have a mother?” “Well my mom’s mom is dead so I just figured yours was too.”
DD wasn’t sure how to respond so she said “Sorry about your grandma” and started the music.
Kids can have the strangest ideas sometimes.

Couldn't sleep. Today will be miserable.
Got together a list of places to call about the basement. This is when I miss Jerry. I don't know what I am doing. I know I need my basement waterproofed. Am I calling the right kind of people? Sounds like it from what I see on their websites, but they all sound wonderful on those.

Sun is out its 62 so far, but still cold because the ground is.
Driving to the city the other day I marveled at the color of the fields. I was going to stop and take a picture, but than forgot on the way home. The weed is called deadnettle and it blooms a beautiful pink to purple, the fields are solid turning them that color, it looks like a pink carpet. From what I've read it blooms in April and can just be tilled up, the only thing it hurts is maybe keeping the soil from drying out. But it sure is pretty, there is another similar I have forgotten the name of now that is slightly different.
Here is a worthless tidbit of knowledge. The daffodils you see out and about when driving never spread on their own. They had to have been planted so if you see them on bare land you can bet at some time there was a house there or someone planted them. I love the old plants, the old rose bushes, the old apple trees all seem to produce so much better and taste so much better. I believe they have had flavor and fragrance bred out of them. And yes many have.
Hubs bought me v8 juice on the way home so I can make veggie soup today from the left over meat, like he says will taste better tomorrow, I agree. I need to do that, didn't get up till about 10. Need to make up the bed but have to catch it when big kitty is off the bed, I don't like to make him get off.
So dinner out tonight and hope the beautiful day continues. Now to make soup.

The Other Me, I feel so lucky that hubs has taught me so much. I will have to hire things done, but he has taught me how things should be done and things I can still do myself, so I am fortunate. Of course age is going to have a big effect on anything I do anymore, sadly.

It's too bad DH is not a practicing Christian as he's about 5 minutes away from needing a powerful belief in an afterlife.

I have the day off today, and guess what, big plans of cleaning, cooking and getting stuff done. Here I sit, procrastinating.
I don't know if there's anything wrong with me. Lately, I have to use all my energy to keep up with work, and doing the minimal in all other aspects of life. And Im drained. I mean, the absolute minimum. Some days, I'm falling asleep by 7 pm. And then I sleep through the night. When it's time to get up, I want to sleep some more. I have absolutely no energy.
Next doctor's appointment Im going to bring this up, because it's not normal. I don't know if it's a sleep related issue (apnea, etc.) or something else.

In other news, the last of our Covid holdouts may have fallen. After his brother's brush with the disease in January it looks like DS2 has finally caught it. His wife and kids had it a few times before but they always took turns. This week the three of them were infected at the same time so DS2 was in charge of taking care of them. When I called him yesterday for his birthday he sounded awful. I am certain he caught it too but when I asked today he was was feeling better. Having known this guy for 42 years now I asked if he had tested himself - no surprise, he had not. Or as he said, there is no test and therefore no proof anywhere in the world that showed he ever had Covid. So he record is unbroken*. Yea, right * He may be in denial but there is not a single anti-vaxxer in my family. He got his shots as soon as he was eligible which may be the reason he escaped for this long.

Fixed breakfast, cleaned toilets, went to grocery store (that will be another story), lunch, cleaned rest of bathrooms, ran a load of laundry, and scrubbed front deck furniture. You can stick the fork in me because I am done except for supper which is reheated tamales and a Spanish rice mix.

I am pooped. DH and I went shopping at Menards yesterday. We are rebuilding the staircase to DS#1's deck. The top part of the stairs was rotten. We were lucky nobody went through. We got to load and unload lumber yesterday. Today we did demo. Tomorrow the run. I think we will wait until after Easter to put it back together.
We have been playing with the grandsons. We have got another nice day to be outside today. The weather is supposed to turn tomorrow.

Can you add a link to your home screen? Or to your bookmarks? I did get to the create proboards. Maybe I can go in that way. And the two you suggested. I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks. I did get in through the create page.

Can he speak? If so, all he needs to do is say he accepts Jesus. Being a practicing Christian helps but this acceptance doesn't affect his passing into Jesus's fold. If he has any background in worship, that works also.

I could handle DH much better if I thought he was being honest, but he defaults to "I forgot" far too often to be credible. And I am giving him a possible slight dementia discount in my judgement. He lacks the cojones to stand up and say "I don't want to" so he very conveniently "forgets". And then I'm the bad person in the relationship because I won't give him grace. Okay, I'll own it because I got no more GAF to give.
He "forgot" he agreed to grill some asparagus for Sunday's meal (his day to cook-I'm making braised lamb shanks and couscous) so now I'll fix the veggie too. Then he "forgot" I asked to go to a particular restaurant today so we went to a local diner he likes. And he "forgot" I said I was running a load of laundry right after lunch and was pissed that the washer was occupied when he wanted to run his load.

I'm on a men's vintage western shirt kick. Some of them have really cool designs.
I found two at the Flying Worm. They have more but I limited myself to just the two.
