We are at meltdown stage.
I've gotten quite a bit of adulting done today.
Still have a ways to go.
I really need a sabbatical.
I'm taking a week off by myself at the end of June. I am not sure if I can last that long.
There is a lace class I want to take virtually. I have to call on Monday.

Dreading taking the twins outside. It's in the negative now and I have to stay out with them since we don't have a fenced in backyard anymore. They went out at 2, so I don’t think them waiting until halftime which should be around 8:30 is unreasonable. I have not exited the building other than to take the twins out since yesterday. I won't be doing so again until Tuesday. I don't do cold that well.

Japanese curry is keeping warm on the stove for a bit - I think it will be tasty. I intermittently texted with our board prez while cooking so I'm thankful it's a forgiving recipe. New board officer has totally gone rogue which is sad but today's email totally showed her venality. Giving people the benefit of the doubt is cool until they personally rip the veil from your eyes and show you exactly who they are.

We are currently forecast for lows of 23 and 21 Monday and Tuesday nights which sounds mild but is dangerous here because of uninsulated homes and plumbing. A lot depends on where the freezing precipitation line hits and everything depends on whether power is lost for extended periods. At this point most forecasters seem hopeful that we will not have enough snow and ice statewide to cause another grid failure like 2021.
We have enough food and I have enough alcohol to make it through until Wednesday.

I keep forgetting to post this.
Overnight I received an email that my Kohl's account was frozen for too many attempts to get in. I wasn't trying to get in to Kohl's website at midnight.
I didn't click that link, in part because the color of the email wasn't like Kohl's uses. I went to Kohl's website and got in with no problem.
Then I looked at the email address. It was from Tkohls.com, not Kohls.com.

I just mixed up another batch of ginger cookies that I only got a couple of. Was going to put the batter outside, but that’s too cold so the bowl is sitting on the freezer in the garage. It’s still above freezing in there.
Going to do a chicken stir fry over rice for dinner tonight.

I asked Mister this morning what was going on, why hasn’t he been talking to me. He hasn’t said much to me at all since Thursday. He said he is agitated and conflicted. I asked about what. He said things with us, and the fact that his birthday is coming up and his Momma won’t bake him a pie and his parents won’t go to dinner with him. I was thinking about things last night, and how even though we have had issues before, things have never been like this between us and we’ve never gone this long being at odds. I also thought about how it’s only been 4 months since his Dad died and next month will be a year for his Mom. So I wasn’t surprised today when he mentioned them and his birthday. I already figured next month would be difficult, but since we already are in a bad place, looks like it will probably be worse than difficult, and it’s starting already. His birthday is in February, his Mom died less than a week after his birthday, and his brother’s birthday is a week after that, all in February. And of course they won’t have their Dad on their birthdays either, and it still won’t even be 6 months since his death. I don’t know what it feels like, but I do understand that it must be very painful. Instead of letting me be there for him, he seems hell bent on pushing me away. I don’t know what to do with that. It’s depressing. Is he on antidepressants? How old is he?

DHs dad signed $35k of stock over to him.
That is life changing money for us.
I told DH we will keep it as our emergency emergency fund.
If we never need it it becomes part of our retirement.
Seriously that's about half of his salary or mine. We could have really used that in 2015.
We could pay off all our debt but I'd much rather plug along on that and keep the stock. A lot of that will be done late this year.
Worst case I could always declare BK on debt. I can't cut enough Starbucks and avocado toast to reach $35k in one shot.

Oh crap you might have my manager. Gotta love toxic positivity. What's funny is the people she claims I'm being negative to all say I'm one of the easiest and most polite to work with in the lab. Guess who isn't. I just want to slap people who tell me I should smile more. Especially if that comment comes from a guy. Nothing like being a Stepford wife. I was waiting outside the Columbia restaurant in Ybor and some galoot in a car drove by and told me to smile. I yelled back for him to go f himself and the people standing outside laughed.

At this point most forecasters seem hopeful that we will not have enough snow and ice statewide to cause another grid failure like 2021. The lows here for the next 10 days are expected to be range between the teens, to just below zero. A couple of days the highest temperatures are forecast to just be in the teens but not get above freezing for several days. Our local utility company has released statements asking us to do specific things to avoid brownouts and blackouts, basically to keep the infrastructure from failing due to the extremely cold (for this area) temperatures. Many of the comments under posts about the measures the utility company is advising us to take, expressed outrage. Basically people were upset that we are asked to as one person said, camp out in our own homes. It said to not set your thermostat above 68°, don’t use your clothes dryer, don’t turn on lights in your home unless you absolutely have to, don’t use your oven, don’t use space heaters or blow dryers, and blah blah blah. Basically just sit home and be cold and in the dark and don’t use anything that requires electricity. I understand the backlash in the comments because if you can afford to pay the bill, you should be able to be comfortable in your home. The real problem is that the utility systems need to be updated to keep up with demand, and avoiding updating the infrastructure means that we are paying the price for it now, because the systems have started failing in ways they didn’t in the past.

I went to the farm supply store to spend a gift card and was grabbing things I wouldn't normally get like chains for the snow blower I've been wanting for years and a heated bucket for the goat...cuz..gift card. Well, apparently I must have done that once before and forgot because there was only $46 left on it. Carrot was with me and thinks he remembers we used it to stock up on cat food and litter a couple weeks ago. I was so proud of myself because the total came in to $143 and I (thought) I had a $150 gift card. Oh well.

Is he on antidepressants? How old is he? No, he is not on antidepressants. He is in mid 40’s. Just a thought. It might be a midlife crisis but he probably has needed antidepressants for awhile. I’m finally off mine after 8 years. I’m finally okay without them. I can’t believe DH has been dead for 8 years now.

At least I'll really know how our new insurance works and costs sooner than later. I took ds in because calling the nurses line, she had me check for fever and his was going up and 1 of the blisters is a bright white which she said could be a deeper burn. And I could tell that he was still in quite a bit of pain.
So I was expecting them to do more or at least give him better pain meds. Instead, they covered him in neosporin and ridiculous "bandages" and said to just keep up with advil. Oh well. I'm still glad they're minor.
I had 2nd degree burns along the back of right hand from a coffee pot that wouldn't shut off at my Great Aunt's 75th anniversary of being in the convent when I was 11. Ds aren't as bad but it's a funny twinning moment.

The theory was that it's easier for everyone to be inconvenienced once for 30 minutes that large areas being out out fkr God knows how long.

I'm a little bit put out that the minute I get home and get dinner for the kids dh gets in a bathtub. He's been home practically all day! We've ranged from -5 to 3 today, but it's 0 right now and I was planning on boiling myself in a hot bath once we were finally home. Hes been fighting a headache with the pressure changed so I'm not going to kick him out, but I still really want to get in a tub.

Yes to everything you said and here folks are more than a little salty because of recent revelations in the media about how much money the bitcoin mining operations make by shutting down when the grid needs power - think many millions of dollars while everyone else is doing the cutback stuff. The utilities demand megabucks from our state and local governments to update their facilities, and then ask the State utility commission to approve rate increases fund those same updates, which they never make!

I may have just hidden 90 nickel size plastic frogs in various poses in my girls rooms and bathroom. Apparently it doesn't take much for me to amuse myself. Leaning towards telling them it was 100.

thrift shopping online. Went to get groceries and that was enough driving for me today. Never heard of online thrift shopping. Is it a particular store?
