I bought an ornament on Monday after dinner. My mom collected glass birds. Bob and I referred to it as the ugly bird collection. It became a game on my part to find obnoxious birds to add to it. Eventually I inherited most of them when I moved out. I think I peaked on Monday. It is the tackiest pigeon I've ever seen. I cracked up because mom would have been livid if I tried to put it on her tree. Definitely "back of the tree" material. I can hear my mom arguing it doesn't need to go on the tree this year every time I look at it. So TUBE (The Ugliest Bird Ever) is going to be the name of the "your mom will always be with you" bird

I was up at 3:45 am to drive my sister to the train station at Northgate to got to the airport. Got back a few minutes before 7, and couldn’t decide whether to go back to bed or make coffee. The deciding factor was when I went into the bedroom, TD was in the shower and the bed was made. So I made coffee.
Driving down to Seattle today, I realized I do not like driving at night.

My neck and back are messed up. I can't decide if it's sore from the gym since I was doing bear crawls which I hate or if I just slept funny. I need to book a massage, but my guy seems to be taking off the same time that I am. I effing hate bear crawl. Only slightly less then I hate crab walk. Which probably means I should add those in to practice more.

The two old sofas are gone. There is still a matching recliner in my living room, but DH commented last night that it is not comfortable, so it will go too. DH cleaned the carpets last night with a Bissell Carpet Cleaner from Lowes. He said he did not like the Bissell Machine. He finished about 11 pm. We are going to do the bedroom tonight before he returns the machine. He is going to have DS help him bring in new furniture tonight.
MIL has a Dr. Appt and FIL has a dentist appt, and DH is chauffer, so he will have a busy day.
They did about 5 rounds of whiting on my teeth last night. Front teeth need some more work. I have another appt January 23 for her to work on them a bit more. In the meantime, I have a kit and can work on them a bit at home. I told DH the hygienists have been turning over rapidly and he agreed it is a bad sign. We will be looking for a new dentist next year. I am supposed to avoid Coffee and Tea and berries and OJ. Decided the pineapple DH packed me this am was not a good idea so I threw it back in the fridge. She told me to chew Sugar Free Gum, so I ran and bough some this am.
She worked so long on my whitening last night, that I missed my appointment at the car dealership. I have about 3 things I want them to review under the warranty. I am at 35,000+ and warranty expires at 36,000 miles. There is also a recall. The service manager said something about it being an inspection. They sent a notice during the summer and said there was a risk of fire if you charge below something like 50 degrees. But Toyota did not have an immediate fix. Now they are starting to replace the DC converter. So I asked them to fix that too. Service manager said, oh, that's just an inspection. They told me on the RAV4 owner's group on FB to tell them either replace it or I will go somewhere else, don't waste my time. So, I just left a message for the service manager.
Still have to put up the tree and buy and wrap presents and put up the tree. I found the missing presents last night. Went to Goodwill yesterday but have to go back soon. Also, before Christmas I will be dumping the 3 bags of unpaired socks in my bedroom. DH spent $189 on a huge prime rib roast. We are not even expecting that many people, so I expect he will have to cut it in half. DS is definitely getting 10,000 to pay down on his student loans. Not sure about DD. DS has about 30,000 and DD has about 10,000. That does not mean DD was more responsible in school, just that she is younger, and we were in a better place when she was in school, so cash flowed more of her tuition.
I am taking a long lunch today so I can take Mom to her Prayer Hour at church. I decided I am going to address Christmas cards while she is praying. I am very far behind and have to take her to Church Saturday and Monday yet. I have a lot of cleaning, decorating, shopping and wrapping to do. Some sleep would be nice too.
Pink I am sorry your mom is so self-absorbed. My mom has always been very selfless, but she is exhibiting a bit of selfishness now.

So I was talking to my nephew over the weekend and he was telling me about an encounter he had recently. He was at Walmart or Target in a whiter part of town getting something for my cousin. He was sitting in his car getting ready to leave. Some old white man decided to tell him to go back to where he came from. He was getting ready to tell him to F off, but he saw the guy had a gun on him so he just drove away instead of saying anything. It's 2023 y'all. My nephew doesn't speak Spanish and has never been to Mexico. He is just big and brown in America. He's lucky I wasn't there. I'm crazy enough to go out acting a fool to protect him. I was just watching a movie on Netflix about civil rights which reminded me of this. I remember reading about another guy who tried to do that in a grocery store checkout line. He heard the woman in front of him speaking a language that he didn’t understand. He told her to go back to where she came from. She responded, “I’m speaking Navajo. Why don’t YOU go back to where YOU came from”.

Our workout consisted of bear crawls, jump rope, broad jumps, plank jacks, burpees, dumbbells rows, lunges, shoulder presses, dumbell kickbacks, and squats. All of them are probably why I'm sore today. I may skip Thursday. I haven't decided yet.

still waiting to hear from the vet, I'm about to call them myself. LD was low-grade whining this am when he first got up. I went out to run a couple errands and he seems to be mobile and not whining now that the meds he got with breakfast have kicked in.
one of those errands was to the AT&T store to see what the options are in person. I did some research the other day, and did a chat with an actual person to get some pricing info. the replacement screen works, but not like OEM/new and some of the quirks just piss me off - like it won't connect to bluetooth in my car. since handheld phones are illegal in MA now, that means I can't multitask while I'm taking the pups on a daily adventure. not the end of the world, but incredibly irritating after getting used to that capability.
so, refresh my memory here - does anyone have the Samsung S23 FE model? it does not require a trade-in, and will cost me $5/mo. I feel like anything is going to be better quality (camera, processor, etc) than the old S10, even the stripped-down models.
TIA!

Theo I'm glad your friend made the decision that HE wanted So am I. I was also glad my mom got to make her decision. Sadly my dad wasn't able to make a decision and the one that was made for him was disastrous, imo.

Ugh. We had PP in to the vet last week for a limp, sent home with meds for an ear infection and they biopsied a swollen lymph node (looks like just infection). Limp seems basically better but he’s shaking his head again and last night he suddenly had a swelling the size of a golf ball just under his jaw. It came up super fast so it has to be infection, right? Right?? Same general area as the prior one but not the same node. Praying they’ll just give him antibiotics and it will clear up. He’s only 5, he shouldn’t be having major health issues yet

Happy birthday, Drama.
Yesterday was rough. Then they decided for some reason we needed to get up at around 3:30 or so. It's not food because they have the automatic feeders.
Finally fell back asleep, but I'm tired.
This afternoon I will do grocery pick up.

A James Avery store opened near me and I got a $20 off any purchase coupon in the mail. I needed a replacement sterling silver chain for 3 of my pendants so we went in this morning and found a perfect chain. $20 off $44 isn't shabby.
I've got DH tucked in to proofreading with the latest section of the book that takes my author through his first career years as a financial analyst. Next I'm headed to founding of his own oil and real estate ventures and a change in wives.
I've got lamb chops swimming in their marinade for dinner and I'm off to a nap I think

Mister is sick. He didn’t go to work today. I don’t remember him missing work because he doesn’t feel well, in all the years I’ve known him. He goes to work, regardless of how he feels. So he must really be feeling horrible.
He started saying he had a cold or something while he was at work yesterday, and started feeling worse last night. He got out of our bed in the middle of the night and went in the other bedroom because he was tossing and turning and didn’t want to keep waking me up. He actually got up for work this morning, then after a while he came in the bedroom and leaned on the bed and said he really did not feel good and he was going back to bed in the other bedroom.

Making cut out sugar cookies with Kiddo. First batch is about to come out of the oven, then we have to roll and cut the other half of the dough. I'll make icing and let her decorate them tomorrow. We are headed out to see a Christmas light display tonight.
The sugar cookies are just because Kiddo likes to do it. And those are the cookies we leave out for Santa. She also puts her finger in the icing when she decorates them so these are not shareable cookies. Tomorrow I'll start baking the rest of the holiday goodies. I've planned for gingerbread cookies, cherry snowball cookie-something-or-others, pecan pie, and a buche de noel. I may make some quick peanut butter fudge if I'm feeling frisky.
DH isn't helping with cookie baking today because he left to take a drug test. He got a conditional offer of employment. Lots of paperwork and hoops to jump through before it's all approved since it's through the state.

I just finished bagging up 4 trash bags of clothes to take to Goodwill. This was from only one section of the closet. I’m still missing a pair of khakis and a pair of jeans. The clothes bagged was a couple of sizes (and another life) ago.
