Pink Cashmere The Wallflower plug thing and the missing kitchen stuff would definitely get on my last nerve. Stuff bought for the house should stay in the house, unless by mutual agreement. I agree!

I am so tired today. Tired enough that I took my contacts out and out my glasses for the rest of my travel. I never do that in the middle of the day! I’m legally blind without one or the other. also I’m in the lounge at my airport having a glass of wine before my next flight. And I had a video meeting with my boss and colleague. I almost drank my wine on camera It’s only 3:45 here, so definitely on the clock still, even if it’s a travel day. Oops if anyone gives you shit about that, they can pound sand. "travel day" starts when I get to the airport. if I have time to log in and do stuff, I will, just because it makes my job easier in the long run. if I don't have time, or a reliable connection, I don't. and the world still spins, and shit gets done when it gets done. I don't now, nor have I ever, flown well. I remember being completely freaked out on my first flight ever on the 8th grade trip to DC. next flights were to MIA in college once, and then work travel started in 2002 at age 23. I still need alcohol or Xanax to quietly board a plane. at 45 now, I don't think this will ever change. That was mostly TIC I don’t think my boss or colleague care. But my colleague did laugh when I said “oh shit” out loud so I’m sure she noticed haha. My boss is fabulous. He DOES.NOT.CARE about when I work as long as I get shit done. Airport WiFi sucks? Don’t work at the airport. Have 20 questions at 10pm? Send the emails and he’ll get to them when he can. Need a few hours off in the middle of the day? As long as I’m not skipping meetings/missing deadlines his attitude is you do you. I will say, I’ve worked hard to earn that trust/respect, but the flexibility I now have has been worth it. So it’s mostly a “me thing” that I cared/thought about it. ETA: my “travel day” started Monday at 6:15am when I left my house. And won’t end until about 9pm when I get home tomorrow. So I’m with you on people can pound sand if they care. That glass was EARNED! Lol.😂

Well, we won't be eating lunch out together again so that will save a bunch of $$. DH decided to play the fool with me at lunch today and he crossed a very serious line that can't be uncrossed. I made it explicitly clear that I will not except abuse of any sort, ever, period. At this point I honestly don't care if I stay or go, but I'll make damn sure it's the most expensive mistake he ever made. We have to go to a public meeting tonight and there's a 50/50 chance I will leave him there to find his own way home if he repeats his earlier error, and I told him that in so many words.

I had to have a CTJ talk about jerkiing around underwriters. I'm also reminding a producer about not chasing broke people.

I got the car insurance renewal today and it wasn't as good as I would like or as bad as I feared. It's up 29% from last year, an additional $614 since I pay annually. Our agent said be happy with anything under a 50% increase on auto or home so I'm good with it. Now I have to print out the policy (they surcharge if you want anything by mail) and show it to stupid so he can't bitch I didn't tell him.
ETA: Houston is very high on auto because of theft and collision risks. Texans are good at a lot of things, but driving ain't one of 'em

Weltz, he has insurance available that other government employees have available far as I know. I am just happy he is getting a total physical today, he is 54, still smokes, and I think he needs it. Hope they really do a good one, I worry about him. I'm curious. Can he put his wife and child on his insurance?

Hubs is always saying he doesn't care what we have to eat when I ask. I HATE that. So tonight, DD had spaghetti O's, I had ramen chicken noodle, and he had lunch meat sandwiches. And yes, our luncheon meat is Boars Head too. I just cannot eat the slimely lunch meat other outfits make.
Our neighbor raises turkeys for Boars Head lunch meat and his barns and everything are spotless. So maybe others produce him like too. It's no wonder its so good.
I let rhodes rolls raise today and just baked them. Last time I had them not good, these sure our. So I guess our dessert is some yeast rolls, yummy.
Son does have his wife and son on his family plan for insurance.

I saved enough calories today to eat rolls. I'm back to eating carefully so every few days I can have something I want while also eating healthy. Tomorrow we may have cauliflower and carrots and some type of meat. That way DD gets something she really likes too. I try to at least everyother day have some good food.
We each had a peeled apple this morning from our neighbors tree. They are big and so sweet, these had all fallen off the tree so good and ripe. The best I have eaten in many a year. I could have gotten a bunch of pears too but didn't. They have hundreds of them on the tree and in the yard. Such a waste.

Thanks to the giant rate increase I now have to be ready to file Medicaid in two weeks. October 31st is now the deadline.
So much for having some time to breathe.
We're waiting on the funeral home.
I need to scan her actual Medicare Part D card and social security card. Sent off her bank statements an hour ago.
Took time off Friday in case I have to fight a bank. We're trying to figure out a charge. Medicaid lady thinks it might be the funeral policy. She sent my POA to them so I can call and ask.
I swear if she mucked up things with that funeral policy my dad expressly told her not to get without him present... .
Then I have $2200 I need to . Medicaid lady is going to send a firm email to nursing home bitch about grandma may get a chair whether they like it or not because I only have two weeks.
I can store it in the unit for awhile too. I'd buy it but not give it to her just yet.
We'll go to the actual medical supply store this time. There was nothing wrong with the one from NFM but I figure it'll be harder for them to bitch if.I go someplace that supplies nursing homes.
Otherwise it's 2 grand of clothes that will sit in a tub in my basement.
So stupid. I get it they don't want someone rolling in it on Medicaid but I shouldn't have to tear my hair out trying to .$2k either. She isn't living high on the hog whether it's $4k or $2k in the bank and I'd have to pay it out to Iowa so it's not like I get it. Just leave it there till she dies.
It's one more hoop designed to trip people up and deny them.
It constantly makes me wonder what people do who don't have $2k lying around hire someone to help you navigate this crap.

The frEEzer is available and I have a kiddie pool full of slime. (I feel the latter is more appropriate to the season than Drama’s 2x4 but we’re prepared to be flexible.) I am sorry your H was an ass. You may take the past tense there any way you choose

Not right now, the tornado took it out and they are just starting to rebuild it. It's not my tree belongs to the neighbors. He said people used to come and get some, honestly, I think they are to lazy to do so. This is my 3rd trip down and I'm embarrassed to ask again. I got 2 5 gallon buckets and this time a smaller bucket. Best crop I've seen in the 11 years we have lived here. Just beautiful fruit.
We sure are enjoying them. His wife put up some apple butter but her health isn't real good now, she is a year older than me. I think she made some pies too.
They would give them to anyone that asked and I imagine everyone around here knows that.

Oh dear, I’m sorry about this. The usual stuff I might say doesn’t apply, since you mentioned abuse. That is a totally different thing from normal type issues and disagreements, and I don’t encourage my friends to try to tolerate it, in any form. I normally offer to pinch spouses here, on behalf of my friends, but I can’t even joke like that in this situation. Does he HAVE to go to the meeting with you? Take care of yourself.

Which means I have to err on the side of caution with the amount I buy, because it doesn’t last long in the refrigerator, and it costs way too much to go to waste.

But would it help get over that if you offered to share whatever you make with the apples, with them? Especially since the wife’s health isn’t too good right now, they might appreciate that. Either way, I still think they would probably prefer to let you get them if you want them, than for the apples to just sit and rot. But I do understand your hesitance on getting more.

I just listened to the evening news, and apparently Joran van der Sloot finally admitted to killing Natalee Holloway with a cinder block back in 2005. this was part of his plea agreement for the extortion case he was extradited back to Alabama to face. www.nytimes.com/2023/10/18/us/van-der-sloot-holloway-murder.htmlnow if we could finally find Madeleine McCann, my 20s can rest. 🥀 I immediately recognized her name in your post, because I associate her disappearance to my desire to visit Aruba. I am glad her family finally has some clear answers about what happened to her, and the person that did it is being held accountable, even though it is still heartbreaking, even to me, and I’m not even related to her. He isn't being held accountable for Natalee's murder. Aruba has a 13-year statute of limitations for murder, and she died 18 years ago. He pled guilty to trying to extort $250k from her mother. His confession is part of a plea bargain deal on that charge. I believe, but am not sure, that his sentence for that will run concurrently with his 20-year sentence for murdering the Peruvian girl, ironically on the anniversary of Natalee's death. The guy is obviously a psychopath. Still, it provided her family closure.

He was deeply apologetic by lunchtime, and I accepted the apology, but I haven't switched the direct deposit back either.

So on a lighter note than all the stuff I have been fussing about, this morning Mister got up earlier than usual. I was already awake when he got up. So he came back to the bedroom for something, and while he was in there, he said that Newbie was trying to bully him into feeding her, even though it wasn’t time yet. When he left the room, he said something to her while he was still in the hallway. I asked him what was she doing. He said “standing in the door to the kitchen, watching and waiting for me to come back to the front of the house so she can try to bully me some more”. I got out of bed to see for myself, so Mister stopped walking and waited on me, and sure enough, that’s exactly what she was doing. When he got in the den, she started dancing around and doing what he calls stomping her feet, still staring at him. He stopped walking a few feet into the den, and told her to come here. She sat down like she was saying “no, YOU come here and feed me”. She’s done that to me a few times, wanting me to give her a treat. Their food and treats are in the laundry room, which is on the other side of the kitchen. When she does that, she is very persistent and makes it very clear that she wants something and she’s not leaving until you follow her and give her what she wants. Apparently she bullies him like that many mornings, when she feels like he is taking too long to feed her. She is usually so laid back and unbothered, that it always tickles me when I see her in one of those moods. And in case anyone didn’t already know the answer, yes Mister gave in and fed her early lol.

I'll plqy that game if I have to, but I'm not there yet. *as a reminder, this is a problem because the office I signed up for is no longer the office I'm assigned to. AND, when I declined the office move in Feb2020, that wasn't a problem, either.

Finally filled out my expense report for my trip last week. I need to set myself up in the resident portal here at the new place so I can pay rent next week. I also need to finish my change of address. With the post office. Did you know they charge you for that. What?! I think it was $1 to do it online, they called it a verification fee or some other bullshit. I think you can still do it in person, though. just drop off the forms. It's free to do a change of address in person.

Andi someone asked you what this meant earlier, so when you say not chasing broke people, are you saying don’t bother nagging them to remit their payments (ie. let the policy cancel), or don’t write that type of business to begin with?

WSJ today had article on ‘badging’. People just coming in to be seen briefly, have a cup of coffee then leaving. Badge refers to swiping badge to get into officd I like working 10-2 on days I go into the office.

I like Boar’s Head not just for the taste, but also because of the lack of preservatives. Which means I have to err on the side of caution with the amount I buy, because it doesn’t last long in the refrigerator, and it costs way too much to go to waste. Yes, I buy premium uncured ham and turkey slices from Aldi for the same reason. It has to be used within 7 days which isn't a problem because it's just enough for 4 sandwiches and we do two for dinner and two breakfast sandwiches with egg

DH thinks he wants to be a school janitor. We will work on getting him an application in the system. I imagine it will be a slow and drawn out process. Which means it is probably best to get started on it quite soon.
