Funeral is today. Dad says he feels bad/weird because he isn't mourning GU. He's been more upset about mom and reflecting on that. I have too and so has Bob. I said I think that's natural. Especially since you'd be turning to her for support and you're going to mourn your wife more than your uncle. And to be frank it's a good mix of care taker fatigue and probably some PTSD. They did us so dirty, especially my dad. Their entire elder care plan was him. I said it's 100% normal to not mourn right now. I said I'm relieved. I'm sorry he's gone and I do feel bad things turned out the way he did but I can't make myself mourn. I got it all out when this shit started. Now cold as it is I'm thinking one nightmare over and I'm grateful that's a monkey off my dad's back. Now maybe he can start healing and moving forward. For me this is closure to a two year nightmare and I am also hoping that with one less brick maybe I can deal with a bruise or two from other bricks. Plus I have to turn my attention 100% to grandma. Now nothing is standing in my way there it's where my mental energy needs to go. Yeah. It probably will come at some point. I am glad your dad has you to be the voice of reason. It is hard to run counter to what society/culture tells you to feel, etc.

If you've ever wondered about the frustrations of parenting an adult child with a disability, I'll share with you what happened here this morning. Yup, it's a Monday. DH was diagnosed with autism when he was a preschooler. It was not just a school diagnosis, but it was a medical diagnosis done by a psychiatrist. We've got tons of paperwork from his years in school (IEP's) and tons of other paperwork. But, we're trying to get him in a work program here, and I found out today that the state government wants a copy of the original diagnosis, and probably because it was done over 20 years ago, the psychiatrist cannot find the paperwork. But, I was able to find my copy of it in about 10 minutes. Yes, I hang onto too much stuff, but there has been so many times that having paperwork has saved my butt that I'm not going to let anyone judge me. And no, I don't trust "the cloud", and I've had a number of computers that have died and "eaten" paperwork, so paper copies it is for me. One of my old clients was a young man with autism. He was transitioning out of HS and into the next phase when covid it. It was not an easy path for her. Hugs. Yup, Covid has just made the process worse, as so many programs just plain shut down during the pandemic. Now that things have been opening up again, the backlog is still pretty big. Baby steps...

I dealt with that with my vaccination record for UNMC. The whippersnapper nurse just couldn't understand why the pediatrician couldn't email them. Because I was born in 1983! My records are in a warehouse guarded by top men! I did have my card signed by the pediatrician they accepted that. Then we had an argument about the chicken pox vaccination. Again what parts of born in the 80s do you not get? I had it before the vaccination came out.
It's a simple titer to prove I had it. A freaking older nurse had to explain it to her and that her poking me was a waste.I made sure to get a copy of my records from employee health before I left. It's in the safe. Just easier to have the paper copy in case it comes up again. I had this exact argument! Hell, I even have an old chicken pox scar on my forehead, but that wasn’t sufficient. At the time, I was 50 and not old enough for the shingles vaccine….which I wanted. My aunt had gone through shingles and was utterly miserable. I was stressed to the max at the time, which is known to trigger shingles. I didn’t have time for that shit! Anyway, I let them vaccinate me for chicken pox. My logic was that it would up my chicken pox titer until I was eligible for shingles vaccine. Probably not as effective but better than nothing.

Good morning everyone!! Chiver - that is awesome about the snowblower!
I took the day off today to work on my taxes. I had an issue yesterday with my computer - I could not get it to come on. I have virtually everything done, was just collecting extra expenses from one of DH's credit cards. I went to his office a few weeks ago to get into the account and collect the statements, and uploaded the transactions to my computer. I use QuickBooks on line, and it works, but I would not say I know it well. So, I knew my QuickBooks data was safe, but I also have a lot entered in TurboTax and really don't know how I would move it over. So I bought a new computer, but it is still in the box. A Geek Squad guy at Best Buy got my computer on. I wanted a new computer as this one does not seem to be connecting well to the internet. I also have ordered 2 Eero beacon extenders for my mesh wifi system and an extra Mesh wifi unit jic the beacon dosn't do the trick. DH said I might put one in the kitchen. One Beacon will go in the garage in the hopes we can get the automatic garage door opener working with the equipment I already have. I will not mess with the existing system until next week as they said all your stuff has to reconnect to the network manually.
We also will be buying a larger TV. DH had been wanting a larger TV, we were at a friend's this weekend and they have a 77" TV on the wall in the kitchen. It was awesome. They have a large two story home with a dining room. They don't have a table in the kitchen, they just have 2 kids, so they have an island and eat informally there using stools. We would probably just go to about 65 which would be 5" longer than our existing TV stand. Current TV is about 49" long and is standing on the cabinet. If DH wants a bigger TV, we can get rid of the cabinet. It holds an Eero unit, a modem, a Samsung Smart things unit and some old CD's. I don't think we have a CD player connected anywhere in the house. Might be one in the basement. The cabinet in the basement has some of DD's stuff from college, but TV is mounted on the wall. Wonder if I can order a TV and get them to hold it till Christmas. Current one was delivered to my office, and it was stored there until Christmas. We need to paint, and install a new floor in the living room. I would actually like to do all new floors in Kitchen, entryway, living room and dining room, but DH is not on board with taking out existing tile flooring. Wanting a new floor in my kitchen holds back replacing the countertop and appliances too. We bought new furniture for the living room though and it has been sitting in the warehouse for months already, so we need to move ahead in the next few weeks.
Opti's post about Moonshadow reminded me I have to run down and feed the rabbits. DH took my Dog's to his Mom's for the day. They normally go there when we are at work.
My nephew's funeral is Saturday. I thought DH told me next Wednesday. I had told my DD that and she was trading days to get Wednesday off. SIL posted the funeral info, DD saw it and stopped her trade request, Saturday is her RDO. I think visitation starts at 1 pm, and DH normally has his office open on Saturday am. Clients are supposed to make an appointment for Saturday, but they just expect him to be open. He often is there until 2 pm. He can close, but he does a lot of business on Saturday and has a 7,000 bonus he can capture for October if he writes a certain level of business. We can go in separate cars, but funeral home has somewhat limited parking, and is in an iffy neighborhood. He will probably open and try to shut down at 12 pm.
I also have a ton of work on my desk at work, but my attitude is screw it. I just might take another day off this week.
ETA Congrats to Giramomma on the clean MRI and my Condolences to NMD on GU's funeral today. Hope everything goes well today.

Had a really fun day yesterday with one of my BFF's. A long ramble on the waterfront and a good meal at a nearby restaurant. The weather was really lovely, and we were able to eat outside at a large firepit table.

I'm sad today.
Hubs is home, said the heart doc said his heart is strong and that the bulge on the blood vessel has not changed. It's the same as it was a year ago so that's good. He is cleared for surgery.
Now has a phone consultation from the urologist yet and his test Friday, so we are moving along quickly.

Sitting here with a heated jacket on, though I have not yet turned on the heated part. It is now 54 degrees outside and 63 degrees in the house. Add in that it was rainy and damp all weekend. IF DH hunts this evening I am going to at least run the fireplace for a while to take the chill and dampness out of the house.
He is wearing a hoodie inside but refuses to turn on the heat. In the mood he is in he would make a stink (mostly teasing) if I did and I don't feel like fighting that battle today, but I can guarantee that he will appreciate a warm house when he comes back in.

I have the heat on 71, its now 63 out. But tonight is to get 33 so it will run and I may turn it up 3 degrees, I hate being cold. I bought 2 sets of sweats to use for PJ's this winter and still have one on.
I loaded the clean items to take to the trailer and found rubber gloves so I can clean the bathroom. Also loaded some clothes and am going to put them by the food boxes up town or maybe over at the slightly bigger town. I don't care who gets them. I just know people locally could use these things and I don't like Good will. They are starting to build the replacement building for the food bank and free clothing store but that willbe awhile yet. I will probably give them items next summer.
I'm trying to be positive and have really been doing great, but now its starting to get to me a bit. I keep telling myself he will be fine. But the weight of taking care of everything again like I used to is going to fall on me again in 2 weeks. I used to be able to do anything and was strong as a horse, but lets face it not quite as much as I was. And if he sees me struggling, he will try to help and he cannot for awhile. Trying to find that balance and keep a positive attitude is what I need to do.
And if its any consolation to others, I was relieved when MIL passed away too. It was like a huge load off, but I was also happy for her. She had nothing to live for, for a long time and just wanted to go. So I think it was her ultimate release too. She was not religious so that had no bearing on it either.
But I want to keep my hubs for a long long time. I'm sure his heart is healthier than mine so he will probably last longer than me. And that's ok too.
Now I'm being morbid, time to go for a bit.
I need to clean the garage out too, have some stuff loaded up for freebies out there too. Need to do it before it gets cold.

Yesterday was gorgeous while we were out running around. Today, not so much. If it doesn’t rain, it will be missing a good chance.
TD apparently got our phones transported over to Mint from Ting. There was some user error going on here. He put the extra SIM card that Mint sent in his phone and forgot to put a SIM card in my phone altogether. We are trying their trial service, and have 3 months to decide whether or not to go in this direction. I guess what happens when we go over the border this afternoon is the test.

Our 3 month trial ends in two weeks and I'm going to buy one year plans for all three. So far, been pretty happy. My phone has issues with it that the boys don't, and the service isn't as great in the more remote areas, but for the price I'm saving it's worth it. I also heard Mint has zero service in Alaska, like nothing at all. So if we ever plan on heading back there I'll have to get some cheap burner or see if I can temporarily switch to Ting at the same time. Should be able to just pop the other SIMs back in and pay for a month I would think.

Never knew you could get Rx for it. I just take a multidose of otc. Like 4 pills instead of 1. And this week getting over cold, I've done 4 pills twice a day bc I know I get depleted when I get sick and it trashes my anxiety.
We have it here OTC, but with a prescription from my cardiologist, I don't have to pay for it.

Well sh*t! It looks like the Walgreens pharmacy here did follow thru on their threat to strike. I cannot get thru by telephone, but might drive by just to find out what's going on. Fortunately, at most it's supposed to last only 3 days, but I was supposed to pick up DS's prescription today. (I would have gotten it yesterday if it had been ready.) Fortunately, we should have enough pills to get by, but I worry about folks who may run out of their medications.

All this talk of Thanksgiving prompted me to call MIL, as we usually do TG there because of DH's grandmother. This year MIL & FIL have chosen to take grandma and MIL's sister to Denny's. Nope. So texted my kids to tell them that they will be coming home for TG. Now I have to plan a menu.

I had that happen once since I've been at this particular office. my regular hygienist called in sick, and they just moved me around without saying anything. the other woman was awful, and then argued with me about my declining the stupid tooth polish at the end (I just can't with the sound of the instrument inside my head. it's just not a thing, non-negotiable). when I checked out and scheduled my next appointment, I asked them to put a note in my profile that if A wasn't available, that they should call and reschedule me. if I showed up and was set for that other woman, I was going to walk out and protest if they tried to charge my insurance for the no-show.
