I'm making a very late breakfast of sausage gravy and biscuits. Perhaps a nap is in my future, fingers crossed.

I think my old old sweeper finally died. Darn it was my best one. Need to see what else I have to use. I use my robot but every couple of weeks use this one to get cathair out from underneath furniture.

Having some buttered sourdough bread and fresh iced tea after a 10K this morning. Finished first in my age group (but I did age up this year -- it's good to outlive the competition).

Just went outside and let the yard crew next door know that they need to clean up the hedge clippings from the neighbor's hedge. ALL the clippings. They seem to find it just fine to leave the ones in the backyard on the ground, thinking I won't see them. Oh, I may be old. But not stupid. Or blind.

I've gotten a bunch done today. my parents have been down and left already. Dad removed the dead hornet's nest out back (everything had been dead for weeks, but I still wasn't touching it!) and did a couple other things outside my skill set. we also knocked out a few things that I needed a 2nd set of hands for. laundry's done, but not yet folded. and, I unloaded a bunch of food on them to take home. this is stuff Mom wouldn't cook on her own, that Dad finds tasty, just to change it up. right now, I'm sitting on the deck watching the shit show that is the 2023 Patriots, via laptop. I may not watch the end of this game, idk.

Waiting for my sister to get back from church, so we can go hit the outlet mall. Leaving TD alone in the kitchen to bake pies to take for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Told him we’d bring a pizza home.
The lamb shanks I made yesterday turned out fabulous. I need to keep this recipe in mind, but it uses a ton of fresh thyme and rosemary (which I grow).

It took until yesterday, but I got the sheetrock fixed in my laundry room. So, next week the painters should be back to finish painting and fixing a few things I saw. I was really starting to stress about when the drywall would be repaired. I have plans to move later this month and was starting to spiral and catastrophize.
This afternoon I'm heading over to a friends place so we can just hang out and chill. Looking forward to it.
I also need to start packing some more and also getting stuff out of my attic so I don't forget anything.
I have been looking at coffee tables but nothing has caught my attention besides a MCM one that I saw at a antique store which was over $650! No thanks, I'll pass on that price. So my new plan is to make my own coffee table. I have a really nice piece of shelving that has never been used so I plan on putting legs on it and varnishing it. Should look really good and I won't spend a ton of money.
Everyone enjoy their afternoon and evening!

Waiting for 15 minutes to pass, then we'll go to the beach for the sunset/Franklin walk. Pretty day today. I've been stumbling around, doing quick passes at cleaning and organizing. I did post on my website new pictures. Need to cut up the bully sticks and put away summer things, because autumn is upon us.

Rant here! I misread the handbook, and the HOA doesn't change the lightbulbs. So today found me on a six-foot ladder on a sloped driveway changing the floodlights on my garage myself. I had bought one of those extension things, but I ended up with a stick in my hand and the changer part dangling from the bulb. So I had to get the ladder to get that down, which is why I changed them the old-fashioned way. Fortunately, they are LEDs and are rated for 13 years. And my neighbor did come out and spot me while on the ladder as I changed the second one. I have a feeling my whole house with either be dark in 13 years or I will have a handyman on retainer! These ceilings are really tall and almost none of them are open fixtures. You have to remove covers everywhere. And they call this a retirement community?

Congrats Susana, I don't like tall walls for the reason you mention. I accidently cut my finger ripping open the box containing soda I bought. Right on the side of one nail and it bled significantly. I had opened the box for splitting up the cans for walking them back to my place and bled all over my hand and the bags. I wanted to shake out the fleece when I got home and wash it, but I do not want Moonshadow poop in the wound, so tomorrow will be busier than expected. I think I got most of the blood off the bags, but I'm not sure. Did not really hurt when I did it so I was really surprised when I looked at one of my hands and saw blood all over it.

Waiting for my sourdough brownies to cool to see if they’re edible. I haven’t made brownies in years, and last time it was using some boxed mix. It’s chocolate, they have to be good, right?

Cleaned up the old stand mixer and spray painted it a metallic navy blue.
It looks good.
Then I finally weeded the front yard. Bob gave me advice on what to buy so I don't have to break my back and still lose to the weeds half way through summer.

I made it to the trailer. I started to use the vac the guy left there since my favorite died before I left today. It's a Shark. But I thought, might as well empty it before I start. Oh my, the thing was so packed with dirt inside it came out in huge pieces I had to pull out. I doubt it has ever been emptied!! I got the filter out and washed it and squeezed it dry on dry towels and than emptied the residue under all this. I turned the thing on and it swept like a dream. I bet they thought it had quit working is why they left it.
The floors were pretty dirty, going to do them again when I go back. Mopped the kitchen and hall, but didn't have my good rubber gloves to do the bathroom, so next time. I'm not getting my hands on stuff without gloves.Cleaned the countertops and sink and pulled the fridge out to clean under it. Will do the stove next time. But there isn't a lot left to do there.
I told hubs after Halloween will pack up what I am keeping and store down there, same with Christmas. I may take the size large coats down and hang them in one of the closets. Will be packing everything in there I want to keep from the house as I go along. I encouraged him to take some of the stuff down and put it in the carport he wants to keep. It is enclosed on 3 sides and could put a tarp on the other end.
I will take clean sheets for the one bed, I had a mattress protector on it so it is clean, we loaned that twin to the guy staying there. Hubs said if he drives down later he can stay there. Also when we get this house cleaned up and up for sale it would be best if he stayed there as I won't be here most likely to keep this one clean.
Today I also cleaned and waxed my bottom kitchen cabinets, I need to do the tops later.
The best part of all this is, I have only ONE more dirty renter to ever have to clean up after. I am so done with cleaning up after dirty people. I will be celebrating that very last one.
Dinner was barbecue ribs, corn, and fried potatoes, I also baked some garlic bread. It was just nice for a change. we don't have it often.
Now I'm tired. I also have more clothes to fold and also rags I washed and dried.

Back from the outlet mall. I was able to replace the pot, and got a freebie with it. Pot was 35% off. Also scored a pair of Columbia snow boots for $30, marked down from $130. I will need them for about 2 weeks this winter, so didn’t want to spend a lot.
Today was successful.

I have three compost tumblers, and as of this afternoon they are all stuffed full of leaves. Last year's leaves. The biggest one is on it's last leg, so I have my fingers crossed I'll see one on Marketplace before next spring. Also, I had a most pleasant day just kind of puttering around outside. I love autumn!

When I understood a few weeks ago, the work that I need to do, I already knew it was going to cause friction in my relationship with Mister. And it has, and I know it will likely keep getting worse, before it gets better.
I am okay with that.
So I just irritated him again. Kiddo has been here since yesterday, YD came home yesterday. A few minutes ago, I asked Mister if Kiddo was spending the night again tonight (he is on fall break and doesn’t have to go to school tomorrow), and Mister said Hell No. YD left his morning to go to church with her sisters and her Mom, so I asked if she was coming back home tonight, he said yes.
I asked, what if Kiddo wants to spend the night here? Mister was like “have you not witnessed how much he talks”?! Ummmm… yeah!
But he’s your child too, why can’t he be here as much as he wants to, when that’s an option for your daughters? Which, me saying that, had a lot of stuff that I left unsaid.
And his response was, YD stays to herself, do you not realize how much Kiddo talks?! And I said, hell yeah, I know how Kiddo can make you wish you could take your ears off and put them in your pocket or somewhere, until he goes home, but is it really okay that YD is like a ghost in our house when she is here, instead of functioning like a member of our household? And whether that is okay or not, it has nothing to do with Kiddo, who is your child too, and should have the same access to our home, to be here whenever and as long as he wants to, that your daughters do.
He didn’t like that. And now he is mad at me. I don’t care. Because I feel like I was speaking on what is right.
The journey I am in right now, requires me to be honest about what I think, and get back to actually saying what’s on my mind. What I learned years ago, was to try to be gentle with my words, and because I never really figured out how to sugarcoat shit, that led to me just keeping quiet a lot of the times.
So now, I accept that while I still might learn eventually, how to speak ugly truths in a pretty way, I’m not there yet. But I still have to speak truth as I know it, to and concerning people I care about….. and hope and really pray that the people hear the message, regardless of the lack of finesse from the messenger.
I sincerely believe that what I tried to tell Mister today about the differences he makes with his children, which was really just a chip on an iceberg, was just truth, gleamed from what I have observed. I feel like, if I was way off base with what I said, his mature response would have been to have a conversation to counter and correct what I said I see.
But he got angry, and his anger left no room for discussion or conversation that we might or could have had. So that leaves me thinking that what I said must have had at least a little truth to it, because if it didn’t, why was the reaction what it was…. To the point that it’s not even a subject open to conversation?

Interesting combination. Please share how they turned out. I’m not a brownie connoisseur, but they’re good to me. Extremely rich and fudgy with a slight tang to them. Far too rich for me to eat a whole pan anytime soon, so I’ll see how well they freeze. If I make them again I will try adding some nuts to cut down on the richness.

It's your house, too, and whoever does or doesn't stay there affects you as much as anyone else.

raeoflyte azucena - This week's 60 minutes was about 3D printed houses and how they are going to print structures in the moon and in MARS in the near future. Very interesting.

It's just spray cabinet cleaner and wax, by Guardian. It just helps protect the finish. But I don't see it cleans so good, I wiped them with plain water that took food spills and stuff off them.
I'm going to bed earlier tonight, its just 12. I have been watching telly and doing crossword puzzles, so enjoyed that.
Hubs went to bed early tonight, he was tired. I hear him say more often that he is tired, he generally doesn't say that. He even looks worn out anymore and most days doesn't start on things till later. He has an appt with his heart doc tomorrow. Than Friday for the PMSA scan and results to be phoned the following Monday. I didn't realize his surgery was already set up for the 24th, so that part was already scheduled. He said he told me but I'm pretty sure he did not or I would have written that down and remembered it.
I think he didn't tell me so I wouldn't worry all this time.

It was just nice for a change. we don't have it often. Now I'm tired. I also have more clothes to fold and also rags I washed and dried. I've never even heard of waxing kitchen cabinets. You're wearing me out just reading about it lol! I was thinking the same thing! You're supposed to clean AND wax them? I've never heard of such a thing.

I went to my sister's Thanksgiving bash. This is the first time the family has met Simon's Melody. They loved her! Everyone had a good time. Now I'm craving more turkey. Maybe I'll buy one on Tuesday, as tomorrow everything is closed. I'll cook it just for funsies, if I can find a smallish one.
