Apparently at some point I may need an estate account. The guy who is selling the glass claims the check must be made out that way because the estate is the owner. To me the will says everything except $x in cash goes jointly to my dad and uncle so to my thinking they are the owners of the house contents not the estate. It's not a hill I'm willing to die on though. And it may be months yet before he gets it sold so I'm not worrying about it. If I have to I plan to deposit and move the money out immediately. I filled in direct deposit details for her state tax return so we'll see. I had to refile one particular form because Turbo Tax made a replacement form and the original was required. I do not know if it varies by state, but we had to open an estate account because of the money that came in as the return of my parents' investment in their apartment. It was required to be made to the estate of XXXXX. Bank in Iowa, will let you deposit small checks, like $100. Be careful on moving the money out of the account until the estate is settled. The insurance company from the car accident told Mister they would only release the funds to an estate account after his Mom’s death. Which is what led Mister to learning about the need for probate.

I don't think I've ever eaten a tater tot and don't intend too. But I do like hash brown potatoes. I saw potatoes today, I didn't check but think it was 5 pounds for $5.99. Groceries here are raising and raising everytime I go. Surely there is a limit? I guess I'm on a roll. I've aggravated at the trash people, hubs has asked them for a different dumpster several times as have I. I also wrote on the last bill to change it out. It has rusted places round the bottom and the coons are pulling trash out. We are having to pick it up and blows in the lawn. We pay $75 a month for it and where their storage area is there are a lot of newer ones. I'm going to look for another company, not sure I can find one but if I can I'm done. Then there is our dentist. I ALWAYS pay at time of service. I am getting a late payment dun. I've called them oh yeah they will fix it, 2 more and they have not fixed it. Now it is saying we are seriously late, I suppose next it will be collections. I'm changing dentists, that's aggravating. I will send them a copy of the receipt they printed out and then I'm done with them. Not crazy about the new dentist there anyway, have been going to them since we moved here but our original wonderful dentist got cancer and passed away. He was quite young, sure hated losing him. But these types of things need to be fixed. We don't complain, don't cause issues and pay promptly. So what is the problem here? Hash browns and tater tots are basically the same thing.

I didn't intend to spend it, just move it over to the main checking. Probate closes next week. Then I can transfer the stock. Hopefully the house lists in early July. Once that's sold the bills will be less. Any money that would go into an estate account is money that belongs to my dad and uncle. There's enough in the savings to cover the cash the grandkids get.

We have quarter-sawn oak floors, original from 1959, all refinished before we purchased the house in '95, with the exception of the main bedroom. That's the only room with carpet but a future owner could certainly refinish the hardwoods under the carpet. We do pay a premium on our homeowner's insurance for replacement of the quarter-sawn oak as it's full-dimension lumber and not pre-finished

I fixed the holes in my quilt I took from great grandma's.
I can't practical sew very well butnI know how to make iron on patches.
So I got some fabric that coordinated and got to work.
It looks nice and I added my personal stamp to it.

Hash browns and tater tots are basically the same thing. Except tater tots are even better not even close : with hash browns you can brown every tiny sliver while tater tots are only brown on the outside. HAH!

That's the only room with carpet but a future owner could certainly refinish the hardwoods under the carpet. We do pay a premium on our homeowner's insurance for replacement of the quarter-sawn oak as it's full-dimension lumber and not pre-finished My first house has the original wood floors from when it was built in the early 60’s. One of the first things I did after I got the keys and before I moved in, was to pull up the carpet in the living room and hallway. I gave my children a choice whether they wanted to keep the carpet in their bedrooms, they said no, so I pulled that up too. Fortunately all the wood floors were in good condition. I kept the carpet in my bedroom, because I’d already started having issues with my feet and carpet is more comfortable. I did pull up the carpet that was in my bathroom though, and the bathroom in the hall. Some years later, I pulled up the carpet in my den. It had the same hards ass stone floor underneath, as in my kitchen. I hated it. After my children moved out, I bought a plush, thick, expensive carpet for my den. It was soooo pretty, and that was the only room I could comfortably walk in barefoot. But even with that, buying it ended up being a mistake. The fibers were so long that I couldn’t use a vacuum with a brush on it, which made it even more impossible to keep clean than regular carpet. Carpet is more comfortable for my feet, but terrible for my allergies and sinus issues.

Just thinking of some old stuff we used to do.
Have you ever blocked a sweater or used a curtain stretcher or pants stretchers?
Or strait pinned a doily?

This made me laugh. Someone gave my 5yr old DGD some "real" make up for her birthday. Her almost 3yr old sister and she were playing with it on Friday. She was so protective of that stuff! Only she was allowed to apply it (heavily). I need to get her sister some for her birthday, next week, to avoid the fighting and crying. Elf makes cheap good quality makeup. FYI. That' what the missy got. The nudes pallet I got is really nice. She decided to make up on her herself. Her eyes just looked sparkly.

It's not a beautiful house, sorry to say. Plus, all that crappy carpeting instead of hardwood. The view is nice, but it seems like a lot of money for a mediocre house. I believe it’s a split level house and the carpet appears to be in the lower level below grade. You can’t put regular hardwood flooring there.

I've never seen those in the stores, and sometimes I make a point of looking. I guess the French don't eat Tater Tots. They make great poutine That's sacrilege!

How about washing hair with rainwater you caught, or rinsing it with vinegar for shine? Or using lemon juice to bleach it? Baby oil and iodine for a tan? Buttermilk on a sunburn, meat tenderizer on a jellyfish sting?

I've done all those.
We used to have a huge square frame that had what looked like thumbtacks with the points up. You would li0ghtly starch a lace curtain, then stretch it and pin it to all the sides. It would dry like it was ironed.
Mom would heavily starch dads cotton work pants. Then you slip them on pants stretchers it was hard. Then you would stretch them sideways. They would put sharp pleats in the pants front and back. Then we would iron them. Dad always went to work looking sharp. We had to iron almost everything. You could do it with jeans too.

Mister said his Aunt’s leg is swollen so big, it looks like it’s about to burst. The same leg one of her friends tried to get her to seek medical attention for yesterday, but she insisted he take her to McDonald’s instead, because she couldn’t get in her car to drive herself.
Mister and his brother didn’t try to get her to a hospital themselves, they called an ambulance. When the paramedics got inside, they said it looks like maybe she needs some help, referring to the state of her house.
Mister told her that she’s going to end up being his Dad’s roommate in a facility somewhere because they both keep doing stupid shit then calling him to handle stuff that didn’t have to happen in the first place.
I told Mister he should’ve told her, she’s going to get parked at Dad’s house to live with him there. Imagining that is as funny as sending Dad to live at my house with my Mom. Because Aunt and Dad try to play nice in front of company, but they really do not get along well at all. Dad still holds it against her what his wife has told him about how Aunt treated her as a child. Plus she use to be color struck (she has much lighter skin than her sister, Mister’s Mom) and uppity because her lifestyle use to be such that she was around musicians and traveled the world singing opera. Mister has confirmed that she use to be color struck and uppity.
She hasn’t always liked how Dad treated her sister. Aunt and Dad really stayed into it when Mom was sick. Aunt was hell on wheels because she was upset that her sister’s house was so nasty, because even though her own house was a mess, she knew her sister would’ve been completely embarrassed about HER house being so nasty, and she helped Mister clean it up the first time. She was also constantly upset because she didn’t feel like Dad was taking good care of Mom, which he absolutely was not.
But even with hearing how she use to be, I like her. From the time I first started going with Mister to gatherings at his parents’ house, I always sat next to her. I’m shy, and from the first time I met her, she talked to me and treated me like we’d been knowing each other for years, so I always sat next to her. She was the same way with my family the first time she met them, and was like that with my kids last weekend, even though it was only her second time being around them. She’s lively and likes to laugh.
Anyway, I’m glad whoever called Mister today, did so. And I really hope she ends up okay.

My mother took in wash to support us so the sinks and tub always had stuff soaking with soak and bleach, and the apartment had clotheslines strung everywhere. The men’s white dress shirts were starched on the stovetop before she ironed them. The little garage apartment was always steamy and hot from all that, no AC of course

I'm going to a lecture tomorrow by my favourite director of the McGill University Science dept. Dr. Joe Schwarz, PhD. Science and The Law. Should be interesting. He's the guy who gave the inimitable lecture of Urine Through The Ages. He makes all of his lectures fun.

I am watching an older (2019) documentary "Killing Patient Zero" about the AIDS epidemic. It is amazing how little we have been willing to learn How many politicians still deny the the danger of an inconvenient disease. How we still like to point the finger at "others" be they gay or Asian or whatever as the cause of whatever disease. I am also amazed at how (from a big picture POV -> NOT on an individual level) benign the HIV/ AIDS really was. For the first decade deaths were counted in the tens of thousands not in how soon will we reach 1,000,000 deaths. Somehow I have this dark feeling that even now, after Covid, nothing has really gotten better if anything we got worse. The lack of care for others displayed has gone from not caring for "deviants" as homosexuals were referred to, to whoever believed in anything they do not understand (that would be science). When the next disease comes along people will be in denial again, try to find a (preferably foreign) boogeyman and complain about being inconvenienced. I better stop writing now as my thoughts are getting too dark.

What was not similar was the time line. 40 years of improved technology really put us at 6 months where it took 7-10 years to get with AIDs.

Taking the day off from excursions. This cold is a bad one. I need to be rid of it. IFF I'm up for it later I'll go into town, find a pharmacy and get some antihistamine and cough suppressant, then come back and maybe ease into the hot tub for a while. At least I have cappuccino and orange juice.
