So I just ordered rubbers, or waterproof shoe covers if you will, for DH. He wears very specially modified shoes for his sugically corrected feet. If they get wet on our cruise that could be an issue. I expect we will be trooping through rain at some point. Hoping the rubbers work out. He could put them on his spare older pair of shoes. I may or may not have just giggled like a 12 year old boy. It astounds me at how immature I can be.
I was looking through MVRs the other day and one of the drivers had the last name Boner. I giggled like a little girl and told one of the others at work.

Also, I apparently sleep like the dead. My dad asked if I heard all the sirens last night. I did not. Apparently someone was killed down the street and I heard nothing. I expect the police will come by again asking me if my doorbell caught anything.

You are not alone. At my age I should be ashamed BUT I’m NOT.

Despite the very early bedtime, I slept through to 5:45. DH made breakfast so I was able to get the floors mopped early, run a load of laundry, and get the 4 meals of gumbo labeled and into the freezer. Got brokerage transactions posted too. I'll spray the weeds after lunch

I've gotten to the part of my "work" day that I don't wanna do. Trying hard to push through.

I weighed this morning, 151.2, wow, how did that happen? I was surprised about that but not unhappy. I could really stand to be 140 and had given up on that idea. Might be possible yet, would put me in the middle of the normal range, that would be a good place to be.
I have got to get up in the mornings out of that wonderful bed, sigh. Got up at 7 and fed my cats and it called me back in.
So now DD and I have had breakfast, have washed and set my hair. I've washed a load of clothes now is drying. Listening to the Sunday news. About ready to go downstairs to mop my sewing room. Then start cutting out shorts and pj's. Finish my orange shorts also.
Not moving as fast as I want, so tomorrow mop the former bedroom down there and move the bed box springs and base into it. Hubs has moved extra stuff into it. After that sew again.
I do want to go through storage boxes down there next week and get rid of more stuff. Will just put it out to give away.
Darn was going to have hubs take my old robot to Washington, it doesn't itself but could use it up there and we both forgot.

In the mean time I did get garbage out of our house, get some rhubarb bread in the oven, and I'm working on cleaning out the pigs. So, that's something.

I bought a big pot of perennial daisies a week ago. I keep moving the pot around to see where I want to plant them, and decided what I really need is another pot. They don't have any more. I guess I'll just split this one and go for it.

I added more spaghetti to the sauce and DD had that for lunch. I'm having some bacon and scrambled eggs.

Ran, washed the car, fixed breakfast and did the Costco dash this morning. Not too bad at Costco (mine was just renovated) but I hate to think of what next week will look like, with everyone shopping for the holiday.

Well, I got a few things crossed off the travel prep checklist. First of which was making a prep checklist! ODS needed a suitcase and I figured I'd better get a new one too because I've been getting lucky all my past trips that the airlines didn't check the size as it's several inches too big for a carry on. So, bought two carry-ons, a puffer jacket for ODS as the one he took last time is now Carrot-sized and new socks and underwear for everyone (so I can pre-pack them). Only big purchases left are new shoes and I need something dressy . ODS probably does too, but I'm taking him shopping next week for work clothes anyhow so we'll figure that out then. It wasn't a super productive day though outside of the shopping trip. Hopefully tomorrow is better.
Knowing just how much you love shopping for clothes for yourself, this trip, or two, or three, should be interesting. So. Much. Dread. I'm seriously considering just ordering a pile of stuff from Penneys online to be shipped to my house. Pick an outfit out of there and take the rest back to the store.

I'm not really getting anything crossed off my list because I can only do some things until my back starts hurting, and then I have to go do something else. Or if it is outside, I start getting hot. So after church, I got the freezer cleaned out and organized. I did throw away 2 packs of hamburger from the pandemic years. But I've done a good job overall of eating stuff up. I have a couple of things that I moved down to defrost and cook. Then I worked a little while on pruning the dead wood from the hydrangea. That makes both my back hurt and makes me hot. It is pretty large. But the side I have finished already looks better. I'm going to an Open House in a senior community that I like at 2. The house is overpriced, but I still would like to see the inside. Then I have an Administrative Board meeting at church at 3. Today in Sunday School the word "propitiation" showed up. and I got asked what it means. Because, you know, English teachers are walking dictionaries. Someone guessed "substitution," and I said it is more like "repayment." The dictionary definition is "atonement" so close enough. My reputation is safe!

There are some people in this apartment complex who order Indian food 3/4 times a week. Last night. I ran into the Sikh delivery man. I asked him for a card, a menu, something, so I can order it oo. He said "come to my car" so I went. He handed me a big heavy bag with food in it. I told him I couldn't accept it, and I had no money on me. He said "No, no, no! No charge!" I had no idea what I was eating, but it was freaking DELICIOUS! There was a pile of flatbread, some green stuff, some orange stuff and some red stuff. Very spicy. Vegetarian, but with incredible depth of flavour.
I realized I still don't have the name of the restaurant or the menu.

I don't want to apply for jobs. I really, really don't. ETA: I read through the jobs in detail. Ones that I thought were a good idea are not, upon some deeper reflection.

My neighbor bought 5 new shrubs (Japanese blueberry) and placed them in large planters across the front of his porch-looks really nice. He asked me about trimming them so I texted him the recommended schedule from a local nursery. Then he showed me the succulent his brother brought him from New Mexico. Ooops, had to tell him it's a member of the Euphorbia family with highly toxic sap and can't handle temps under 25 degrees.

Local news reported on today's discovery and removal of an 11-foot, 1,000-pound, 3-legged alligator from a nearby residential community. It took a licensed wildlife removal guy 5 hours and a tow truck to get him loaded up for a trip to a gator sanctuary in the area. It's believed he lost leg #4 to a rival in a territorial dispute.

Went to grandbaby's soccer game. Stopped by 5 Below on the way home. Got the twins a bunch of new toys for their birthday. I also stopped and got Chipotle for me.

I didn't even realize you had alligators there. Shows how much I know. They are surprisingly common in areas with water features like ponds or lakes. Most of the upscale developments thought it would be a good idea to use lots of man-made water features throughout the communities' greenspace and walking trails. The gators endorsed that idea because that means lots of wild ducks, geese, and plump poodles around too. There's a ton of gators in the wild as well which is why recovery of drowned swimmers in local rivers and lakes is iffy. It's breeding season and the bull gators are looking for love in all the wrong places.

We have a meeting with the cruise consultant this evening to determine if getting off the ship in NYC vs Reykjavik is feasible. We will have to move cabins, if we do this. Which are you preferring to do? I think NYC. Shorter flight home. We met with her, she hasn’t got an answer from the home office yet. Extensions on the WC (which is essentially what we are) were handled by a few people in the office.

So that is not quite working out the way I intended. I have told before about the yarn stash I discovered that I had completely forgotten about and how I decided to make it into a lap throw. (thanks for reminding me that crocheting is relaxing giramomma). Since it is very bold variegated yarn I decided to make 7" blocks which will be joined in black to tone it down a bit. So today during my breakfast/dinner zoom with DS2 and family I mentioned what I had been doing and DGS1's ears perked up. He needed to see what I had done and he loved it. One guess who again will not be able to travel with just the one suitcase come December. That thing will need to go into a duffel bag and until then it will reside inmy guestroom. So much for speeding up my decluttering. Oh and I may or may not have referred to myself as a "busy, happy, hooker" - very soon I will have to start being careful saying such things as the little ones will start to get things like that and their parents won't think it is funny anymore when oma says such things

Oh dear! There are supposedly alligators near the end of a smaller river here, near where it flows into the Mississippi River. But that area is pretty much inaccessible to the average person. I read about it when I was researching what animals live along the river where the trail I was riding my bike is. Apparently whatever sciency type people monitor things like that, believe the alligators haven’t strayed from that area, which is far from where I was riding my bike. I hope they don’t, pleas and thank you. Over the last several years, there have been reports of black bear sightings in the are where I live. One was in northern Mississippi (I could literally walk to northern Mississippi from my first house), and one in the northern part of the county. Idk what ended up happening with either story, but please God, no bears OR alligators.

As long as your river area is kept human-free, the gators will have space to do their own thing in their own space. I'm with you on the bears - I want no part of them at all, even at a distance.

OK. I think my resume is tweaked, and I've got half of my cover letter in good shape; the other half drafted out. I'm feeling really good about my cover letter. And then I will get the first interview, and they will ask a dumb assed question and instead of playing along, I will ask why they are asking me a dumb assed question. Which means I'm going to blow it. Because people don't want someone like me in the workplace. They want someone who is happy to have meetings about meetings. They want someone who will take 6-12 months to make a decision that could be made in like 2 weeks. They want someone who ignores reality and is just supposed sing like snow white while you work. Or any of the other old time disney princesses. They want someone who is not strong, who cannot feel empowered to make decisions or want to keep things moving forward.

Good morning, invisible founts of erudition, visiting me in my trusty laptop. Happy Sunday to you. I hope your day is smooth and easy in every respect, and provides respite from pressures of life. Today is The Day to finalize packing up. We leave early Wednesday morning. All the talk of cooking and baking makes me miss my grandmother, my mother's mother, very much. She was an excellent scratch cook with no recipes at all but an uncanny feel for food of every type. My mother was, as well. With 5 kids we went through food very quickly but we always had ingredients. It was New England food: boiled New England dinner; chowders - corn, fish, quahog; Swedish pancakes; chili; spaghetti; lentil soup; Sunday roast with broccoli and mashed potato; muffins and puddings; scalloped potatoes with hot dogs or kielbasa; blueberry teacake; turkey; checken; oatmeal. It's been raining and rainy. Yesterday I got an aptly named fishing boat coming in to harbor, but there was no sun and precious few tiny dinosaurs at the beach. I like the name of this boat.

Home and bathed. Thinking about putting a load of clothes in the washer, but I think it's going to be an early night.
