From various comments on fb from melanin challenged boomers, it’s the end of civilization as we know it.
I liked it.

I'm not big into Rap or Hip Hop but I enjoyed it. I didn't recognize everyone on stage but I did most of them. I was going insane trying to remember Mary J. Blige, I heard the one song at least 3x a day on the radio during high school. Couldn't remember her name to save my life.

They could have done without Kendrick Lamar.

I liked it. I posted elsewhere that we could barely hear the singing. I don't think it was my tv.

Both DH and I liked it! I'm not big into rap, but it hit me in the feels because of my age and when all the songs came out (DH is 42, I'm 36).
I really liked the sets as well.

I liked it. I posted elsewhere that we could barely hear the singing. I don't think it was my tv. I also had a problem with the sound mixing. I wasn't sure if it was because we streamed it or what. I'm usually disappointed by the halftime show, so I took a shower when it started and only saw the very end. I think the only really good halftime show that I ever enjoyed was Prince.

I liked it, but I felt that they all held back some to make sure no one out shined everyone else or steal the show. Having them all try and do an old fashion rap battle and not hold back I think would have been better.

I loved the extended halftime. Gave me time to fix dinner and not miss any of the football game.

We both loved the show and DH said it was the best he's seen in years. The staging and choreography were amazing. I agree that the sound was somehow off, with the performers barely audible. Blige is one of our favs and we have a lot of her music. I used to not appreciate Eminem, but his more recent work is wonderful. I personally like my music (and other art forms) within a framework of environment and social commentary and the hip-hop and rap genres reflect both. Like Swamp, I've seen a lot of ugly on FB and local news sites. I'm not surprised because I've lived through our local livestock show's musical performances opening up to GASP, Hispanic and Black performers! This year's lineup, while still predominantly country, includes Ricky Martin, Los Tucanes, Bun B, Journey, Khalid, Gwen Stefani, and Marshmello. Somehow I'm thinking the sun will still rise in the east

It was good. Thought DR DRE looked a little winded. Snoop seems to be a guy who just does not age. Fifty cent I did not recognize until he was upright! Mary K killed it imo.
I do not mind the dancing, as it is what it is, and I was young once upon a time. Rock and roll was the devil's music to the older generation of my youth.....but I do care that so many youngsters sit at home seeing it. I understand many of them know what it is about, but SuperBowl attracts a wide swath of American families who might not appreciate seeing it thrown in their younger children's face. Yep, just a newer version of dirty dancing...... I just wish I could perform a fifth of their dance moves these days.....I would be on the ground 15 seconds into a dance,

I enjoyed it, especially knowing the Snoop just bought Death Row records, so he will be able to cash in on any new royalties generated from new audiences listening to the old school rap.
If they would have done all new music, I wouldn't have been as impressed, it was a nice trip down memory lane.

I liked it.
For some random reason Mister and I watched Prince’s half time performance again on YouTube, maybe last year. I think he will forever be the GOAT for the Super Bowl half time show. Prince singing Purple Rain in the rain….. awesome!
I’ve heard there was a lot of nastiness about this year’s show. No surprise there.

I enjoyed the show. I asked DH what he thought last night, he said he thought it was good.

I liked it. As tractor said, it was a nice trip down memory lane. I told my husband before it started that I bet 50 Cent shows up. I had hoped for a Dre/Cube reunion, but they probably could not have done any NWA songs due to censoring. And I have always had a girl crush on MJB.

I didn't dislike it, but there were a lot of halftime shows I enjoyed more. It was a love letter to LA and LA based artists. I missed a good portion of it and agree a couple of the entertainers were under-used. The box thing kind of confused me, as I did not watch the whole thing from start to end. It felt like Barbie's LA dream house at the men's Superbowl. I liked what little I saw of the performance. Came out for part of Eminem's set as I personally like that song. Wish they had picked more than one female performer, especially since she did not get to do much IMO. I'll probably appreciate it more later when I have time to watch whatever made it to YouTube. And ditto on Prince and other performances. I watched some pre shows as background noise and one of them replayed some of the Superbowl performances.

That was also iconic because it is dangerous to sing in the rain with all the electronics. I had forgotten one of Beyonce's Super Bowl performances ended with a power outage. Prince just rolled with it, and part of me thinks that's the Minnesota in him.

Didn't watch it. Will never willingly watch one. Think all halftime shows are wildly overblown, overdone pieces of crap and would happily get rid of them forever.

I guess I'm one of those melanin challenged boomers, although all my favorite music comes out of the heart of Africa. I just hate rap. These are 'musicians' who wouldn't know a c-sharp from an f-flat. It's just a lot of angry yelling while maintaining a death grip on their genitals.
Billy Preston predicted this.
I got a song I aint got no melody I'm gonna sing it to my friends

From various comments on fb from melanin challenged boomers, it’s the end of civilization as we know it. I liked it. I know I am older than you, so I would like to tell you something. Back in the late fifties and much of the sixties, country music was looked down on in the northern metropolitan areas. Hayseeds! Farmers! Rednecks! Hicks! Look at country and western now. Myself, I do not listen to much rap. Not my cup of tea. Kids and grandkids do, so we hear it but does not mean we look down on it. Yes, I do realize others are a lot more vocal about it, but times change with the years.

And spoken word set to music thankfully has evolved, but I have my limits for angry music no matter who does it and in what style.

However I thought the show was great, and I appreciate what snoop abs Dre have contributed culturally. You also don’t pearl clutch about how the show was offensive to whites, or it is “sexual anarchy”. Yes sexual anarchy was a quote tweet from Charlie Kirk, an old white guy.
