I'll be so happy when this is done. Starting to struggle a bit from the intensity. MPL $17,646 of $27,000 (65%) as of 6/24/2022will your fat raise help . Help me get there a little faster, but I've put most of my raises into my 401K, so income doesn't go up. In fact, it goes down because I'm still paying SS on the entire amount.

That will help with your fafsa plans i think.

I just don't think I can do it anymore, especially if it jumps that much...unless I work a ton of OT, I'm only taking home $200/week. With 20 hours OT biweekly it goes to about $325.
FAFSA doesn't matter for me the next few years. 2022 was just my "overkill" year just in case DS goes for a 5th year.

Nooccar: Update
| 9/12/21 | 6/27/22 | Goals | EF | $7000.00 | $12,000.00 | $12,000.00 | House | $7,613.54 | $10,044.31 | $10,000.00 | Travel | $1,221.44 | $7,391.24
| $8,000.00 | Total | $15,834.98 | $29,435.55 | $30,000.00 |
This was my last regular paycheck for this school year. Now I'll be using my summer savings account for income until school starts up in the fall. I just ordered a dishwasher (that I hope doesn't end up on back order, or worse canceled) that will be paid for from my house fund. I will probably adjust the total in the fall when I reset my goals. I will need to get back into the habit of using one. I haven't had a functional dishwasher for 20 years.

Welcome Sealy! Great progress so far. Nooccar - pretty close to your goal and significant savings over two years esp on educator's income. Good job!

I was expecting a huge paycheck from Job 2 this month, and of course nyet. Last month I had the same issue with Job 1. I seriously don't get how these places think it's not OK to pay their adjuncts in a timely fashion every month. I know WILL get paid eventually, but WTF?! In the meantime, I had to take 1K out of savings for next month. Because of this crap, I'm now planning to either retire later or work more than I'd initially planned post-retirement.

I'm sorry debthaven I've heard adjuncts get treated very poorly. Yes, you should be paid timely.

We were all supposed to get raises June 1st, but still not gone through. Will be retoractive. I assumed that after the 2nd paycheck in June I just didn't get a raise, so I'm releived at least to be getting something! and no real communication around this either. we will all get 2% COL, no merit for anyone. With 5 - 8% inflation maybe higher? Don't strain yourselves on the staff appreciation there, lol!

I complained about the non-payment to my boss at Job 2 today. She and her boss are inquiring as to why I (we? not sure) weren't paid for the first set of orals in May. Today I asked a few colleagues if they'd been paid for the May orals ... and to my astonishment, nobody knew! I asked three people, and NONE of them had even checked their payslip! I was floored. In other news: - I WAS finally paid for the Job 2 Open Day I did in January! Everyone but two of us were paid in February. For some reason, S and I weren't paid, and we had to complain and chase it up, repeatedly, for many months. So I was finally paid in June for the Saturday I worked in January! I'll be sure NOT to sign up for next January's Open Day!

boo hiss! If they ask again, rather than straight out refuse, can you have part of you deal being a 1% per month late fee for payment?

I live at my fiance's taking care of his house because he is on a temporary job in GA. I have no bills but food, toiletries, paper products, gas, and car insurance. Saving as much as I can. I have other savings for my sinking fund each month too.....car maintenance, tires (we use snow tires in the winter), vacations, Christmas and gifts. SO yes, I am saving quite a bit every month although gas is killing me because I commute 65 miles to work and then back again each day.

That's what we are here for, to lift each other up! On savings, but also, elsewise. In many aspects of life, I see only my downfalls. Early training on that. But I've learned to listen when other see me from a nicer POV

so - my raise finally came through! My employer match on 401k will increase $8.73 per pay period. And I am vested..... , so a little bit of free money always helps.

Oh how I miss adding to savings! Today's task is to total bills for next 2 months and make a transfer OUT of savings to the checking...ahhh, it is surely an adjustment to go from accumulating cash to depleting the cash!

Update Goal #1 - EF $10,087.44 7/5/2022 ($0 1/1/22, Goal $10,000)
Goal #2 - Car fund $7796.86 7/5/2022 ($0 1/1/22, Goal $25,000)
Goal #3 - Wedding and Honeymoon -$10k total $1000.70 7/5/22 ($0 1/1/22, Goal $10k)
Still plugging away on Goal #2. Not a lot of change on Goal #3, about $100 per month. Teachermom So I had money sitting in my savings to cover my student loans from the sale of my house. I had applied for the PSLF a long time ago and was denied any forgiveness. They said I wasn't in the correct plan, so my payments didn't count. With the new adjusted guidelines, I reapplied. They are counting past payments they denied. I need 120 payments, so far they are counting 90 and still adjusting. I have 7 for this year so far (you have to reapply yearly). That means I need 23 more payments and the rest is forgiven!! I retire in 36 months, so I can just make payments for the next 23 months and the rest will be gone forever! So now, I needed to make some decisions on savings. I transferred the $9k I needed to fully fund my Goal #3 - wedding and honeymoon account. Transferred other money to goals I haven't been tracking here because I didn't think I would get to them yet. Still going to keep building my new car fund. Here is my update: Goal #1 - EF $10,087.44 7/5/2022 ($0 1/1/22, Goal $10,000)Goal #2 - Car fund $7796.86 7/5/2022 ($0 1/1/22, Goal $25,000)Goal #3 - Wedding and Honeymoon -$10k total $10,000.70 7/5/22 ($0 1/1/22, Goal $10,000)Teachermom

I'm not updating as often even though I'm still plugging away. Distracted by work and have gone down the scary rabbit hole of college costs as DD13 enters Freshman year. The numbers are frightening. Calculators have our EFC at $63k/yr. Good gravy. Seems all of our liquid savings is fair game for her tuition according to FASFA. I read somewhere that only $9500 is 'protected' that doesn't even make sense for an emergency fund these days. I acknowledge that it's totally a first world problem. Given our track record of saving $30k the last 3 yrs, I think we can safely set her tuition budget at $25k cashflowed + 6.5k loan and shoot for some merit in the $10-20k range which should put us in good standing at some schools. Trying not to get overwhelmed and just take it step by step. We have 4 more years to save and will do so. Difficult to justify spending more than $100k on college though. Was sure hoping that bubble would pop before we got there esp since we paid our dues getting stuck in overpriced mortgage in 2006 so have paid our dues. Azucena $15,173 of $30,000 (51%) as of 7/15/2022

There's essentially no asset protection allowance anymore. It's been shrinking for years and now it's basically gone. However, EFC is driven mainly by income (20-30%). Parent assets are 5.6%, student assets 20% and student income 50% after the 7K student income protection allowance.
