Boy, they sound like parents of the year material. The parents had purchased the handgun used in the shooting as an apparent Christmas present, according to the prosecutor.
On Monday, the day before the shooting, the teen's teacher caught him looking up ammunition on his phone, McDonald said. The school then tried to contact his mother via phone and email, but she never responded, according to the prosecutor.
Instead, McDonald alleged that Jennifer Crumbley texted her son saying: "Lol I'm not mad at you. You have to learn not to get caught,"
On the morning of the shooting, one of the boy's teachers found a note he had written and found it "so alarming" that she took a picture of it, McDonald said.
The note included drawings of a semiautomatic handgun pointing at the words "the thoughts won't stop help me," a drawing of a bullet with words "blood everywhere," a drawing of a person who appears to have been shot and was bleeding, and a laughing emoji, according to the prosecutor.
The note also allegedly included the words "my life is useless" and "the world is dead."
Upon finding the note, the teen was removed from class and his parents were called to the school for a meeting where they were told they had to get their son into counseling within 48 hours, the prosecutor said. They "resisted the idea" of bringing him home from school after the meeting, McDonald said, so he returned to class.
Neither parent asked their son where his gun was or if he had it with him that day, she added. link

Tell him he has to learn not to get caught when he’s caught looking up where to buy ammunition for his gun while at school? Too bad this kids went off on his fellow students. Would have been better if he used his new toy on mommy and daddy. Maybe they can get a family cell at the jailhouse.

Ok now the mom and dad, who previously said they would turn themselves in if the got indicted, have gone AWOL. Not talking to their attorney anymore either.
The sent their fugitive team, the FBI and the US Marshals after them.
They need to flee to Texas, where they will no doubt get Parents of the Year for fully sharing the right to bear arms with their kid.

Just another example of responsible gun owners So amazing isn't it. I just can't fathom the level of recklessness.

Skimmed an article that recommended the public do not approach them if they see them.

They have been captured hiding out in an empty industrial building in Downtown Detroit. I wonder how many homeless they had to displace to find a sleeping spot.
Either way, they will now face some time in separate cells for many more years. I doubt that's good for maintaining a strong marriage, although it would be an interesting study...

OK, I know what I should have said is "screw you all, it's my right to have as many guns as I want that I can hand out to whoever wants one, kill or be killed" 😊 But, I stand by what I said, can't we all just get along? I am fine with responsible gun owners having all the guns they want. I would just like a little proof that you are a responsible gun owner **before** you have possession of all those guns.

Yeah because a lot of the guns used in crimes are stolen from legitimate owners. If people just started keeping them in gun safes not only would their kids not have access, we’d have fewer guns for criminals. It doesn’t seem like such a big ask to me.

If you keep it in the safe, how do you continue with the fantasy about a good guy with a gun protecting his home and family

The family which kills together are imprisoned together (though in different facilities).

Their lawyer claimed they weren't hiding. I am sure that an empty industrial building in Detroit in December is a very comfortable place to stay.

Santa, bring ammo’: GOP congressman and family pose with guns for Christmas photo days after school shootingRepublican congressman Thomas Massie has sparked outrage for posting a Christmas photo of his family posing with a trove of firearms, just days after four students were murdered in America’s deadliest school shooting since 2018. The Kentucky congressman shared the family portrait on Twitter on Saturday, along with the caption: “Merry Christmas! ps. Santa, please bring ammo.” Mr Massie is seen posing with his wife and members of their family in front of a Christmas tree in a holiday card-style image. When we have people in responsible positions, like a Congressman, this stupid and insensitive, how can we expect normal people to act sanely? Most of the guns in that photo should only be in the hands of military personnel.

I'm all for outsourcing Congress to Mexico, pay them $6 an hour and no benefits. We'd have better results than we have now!

They are ludicrously happy, posing with their mega-guns. But linking it to Christmas, a Christmas card family portrait as it were, nominally the holy day celebrating the birth of their Lord Jesus? Their version of "Christianity" is absolutely bonkers. And then there's the enormous insensitivity to do it immediately after another mass shooting in a school...

If you want to win a GOP race in my bright red district you better take a lot of pictures of yourself armed with a large gun, wearing a flannel shirt and ball cap, looking tough. Otherwise you’ll be accused of being insufficiently supportive of the 2nd amendment, which makes you a commie and a Nancy boy.

Going back to the original topic: I saw reports on Twitter of tons of social media threats to schools across the country following the Oxford shooting, prompting districts to close or go remote.
I'm nowhere near Oxford, but there were about a half dozen districts just in my region of NY on Thursday/Friday that had independent threats affecting schools, including both the districts immediately to the east and west of our school district.

[ Every time I see this picture, all I see is death - and not in the usual "death as entertainment" way - but in the death as in loved ones are grieving and in pain that will never truly go away. That juxtaposed with a Christmas - just adds to the pile of "proof" that the Christian god loves human suffering and wants more human suffering and that the god is indeed evil. I'm pretty sure we've seen celebratory pictures of armed civilians with a religious symbol or a religious theme to them -- in third world countries. How is this picture American

How is this picture American I think what one family does has nothing to do with any proof about God. The tree behind them is decorated like any secular tree. Many people who say they identify as Christian, seem to follow little if any of the Christian faith. Its just people posing with guns because they think it makes them cool.
