www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/lifestyle-buzz/new-parents-wearing-masks-get-kicked-out-of-texas-restaurant/ar-AAOCC2W?ocid=msedgntpA couple were kicked out of a Texas restaurant last week after they refused to take off the masks, which they say they were wearing to protect their newborn immunocompromised baby back home.
Natalie Wester and her husband, Jose, went to Hang Time, a restaurant and bar in the northern Dallas suburb of Rowlett with a few friends on September 11, when they say staff members told them they could not wear their masks indoors.
Wester said she tried to explain how her son is immunocompromised, when a waitress told them that if they had a problem with the policy they could leave - which they did.
Wester and her husband then sat down at a table, ordered some drinks and an appetizer, she said, but about half an hour later, her waitress sits down next to her, saying 'Our manager told me to come over here because I am nicer than he is - but this is political, and I need you to take your masks off.'
'She said that the mask "doesn't work, is like using a chain-link fence to keep out mosquitoes and doesn't give people enough oxygen,"' Wester recounted in her post.
I find it amusing that someone can say it doesn't let enough oxygen in, yet believe its not good enough to screen out the virus. I guess those oxygen molecules get stuck on the chain link fence? What do you think?

It's my body my choice you can't tell me to wear a mask.
It's your body MY choice it's my right to say you can't wear a mask.
Pick a fucking lane.

People have entirely too much time on their hands and not enough responsibilities/brain cells if they think that making sure people DON’T wear masks is a good use of their resources.

If the restaurant manager wants to ban masks, I guess that’s his right as a business manager, but I think this couple need to make sure this incident gets widely publicized so other mask wearers can steer clear.
I certainly wouldn’t want to go there.

What do you think? I'm pretty sure that the oxygen molecule is several thousand times smaller than the virus.
I remember a professor at my alma mater using a similar argument in the nineties arguing that condoms couldn't protect you from HIV. He repeated the same BS for several years and I find it remarkable that his classroom ceiling never filled up with helium-filled condoms.

A mask wearer is not a protected class. If a the restaurant requires no mask and you want to wear one, it's time to move on. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should do it.

These are the same people who want to ban anyone wearing a headscarf.

if someone demands that I don't wear a mask, and I get covid (at least in part) because of it, can I sue that person in civil court?

I sure hope so. But the burden of proof might be difficult to establish. Swamp?

I sure hope so. But the burden of proof might be difficult to establish. Swamp? Merica - you can always sue. Do you have any chance of winning? That is the real question. In this situation, unless you were forced to remain in that environment, I would struggle to find in your favor. dondub 's point is also very valid.

Stopped overnight at a motel in Georgia. On the front door of the office was a large sign stating (as close as I can remember) You accept all risk that by entering thess premises you may become infected with covid, and per state law the establishment cannot be held liable. That may not be word for word but pretty much covered the statement intent. Maybe Kadee could tell us if this is true?

By the way, looking at the guy's beard, I am not inclined to believe he is protected properly.........that said, I probably would not eat at this establishment as it makes me wonder what corners they might be cutting there.

Preventing people from taking what they feel are necessary precautions may make you liable. If you prevent someone from wearing a mask and they get infected, it would be an interesting test case. If you let them mask, and they get sick, I agree

I’m convinced the pandemic is culling the herd. Too bad there will be collateral casualties Not fast enough. That is harsh by both of you. You feel the same way about teachers, healthcare workers, and doctors who refuse the vaccine? These are educated professionals. Then you have Biden excusing the postal service from getting the vaccine............. If I was adding maybe you too could be collateral damage, via the postal service, I am sure you would pipe in rather harshly.

And yes, if they are not getting it for a non-medical reason, I think the same thing. They should be part of the solution. No matter how much you want to spread the blame around, the biggest impediment to getting vaccinated is political, and you can superimpose the election results on vaccination rates and get a very good overlap. The vaccine resistors are overwhelming republican. Own it,

Never knew the Republican party was so full of minorities. In truth many Republicans are vaccinated. Many anti vaxxers align with Republican party but are not part of the party. They are not registered as Republicans. They just hate democrats more. Yes, politics play the number one role, but I would guess, religion on the conservative side is a huge number two reason. United airlines just fired 600 employees this week for no vaccination. Were they all white Republicans? Now school systems and hospitals are going to do the same thing. Are they all white Republicans?

Are they all white Republicans? Hispanic rates are nearing white American rates, over 70%. 90% of Democrats are vaccinated. 55% of republicans are vaccinated. I guess you just do not want to believe it. Of the 15 most vaccinated states, all but 1 voted for Biden. Of the 15 lowest vaccinated states, all but 1 voted for Trump. Idaho and Montana(not known for their diversity) are in the middle of a miserable surge from delta. Given the percent of the population, white republicans are far and away the group most responsible for the poor rates in the most republican states

Lots of good data here. I do not see it broke down by ethnic group in each state for a true political decision Trumpers versus the world. As you can see from what I posted about NY State there is a problem with minorities receiving the vaccinations.

Lots of good data here. I do not see it broke down by ethnic group in each state for a true political decision Trumpers versus the world. As you can see from what I posted about NY State there is a problem with minorities receiving the vaccinations. And again, the states with the lowest vaccination rates are ID, WY, and MT. Overwhelmingly conservative and white. No comment about the rates of republicans vs democrats I quoted. The states with the lowest vaccination rates are in the south and mountain west. Your continued insistence to highlight minority rates is an attempt to distract from the truth. COVID is rampaging through states with low vaccination rates, which are white, conservative, and republican. None of what you have posted changes that. And if you look at the bar graph where rates are broken down by ethnicity, the rates are not that far off.
