ABC has an article (can’t link on my phone) that the judge has set a hearing on holding Trump in contempt of the gag order. Trump claims he was only defending himself from viscous people.
Judge also warns Trump if he doesn’t show up for the trial he could be jailed.

50% of the jurors said they could not be impartial. Yeah, I think if you are on this jury, your days will be numbered if they don't rule Not Guilty.

50% of the jurors said they could not be impartial. Yeah, I think if you are on this jury, your days will be numbered if they don't rule Not Guilty. let's hope that most of the jurors don't think that way. from AP: Around 32 potential jurors remained after Monday's session, according to a pool reporter in the courtroom. They included those who were already questioned and not excused along with those who still face questioning by Merchan on Tuesday. Another panel of potential jurors will be brought in after the first group is completed, the judge said. keep in mind that people far more vile than Trump have been convicted by juries before. and what good would it do Trump to kill them AFTER he is convicted? he really needs to kill them BEFORE he is convicted. if it were me getting selected, i would love the chance to decide this case. but i am weird that way, i guess. i have had a good life, and i don't need a "future" in the US. in fact, i would quickly depart the US as soon as it had ended. buh bye!

In the hush money case, trump was hit with 34 felony charges of falsifying business records. Surely one count can stick. It only takes one guilty conviction to brand trump a convicted felon.

“It looks like the judge does not allow me to escape this scam. It’s a scam,” Trump said
yes, it is a scam that landed him in court. glad he is finally coming to terms with that.

i wish he had said it in court. Give him time. The infant has no self control. Listened to Pod Save America (leftist pundits) they said that Trump has shown an ability to contain himself when necessary and cited depositions. He just has to realize how important it is. Their take is he will keep going until he gets truly slapped and then he will straighten up. Right now being obnoxious keeps him in the news and he loves that.

Thirty-three percent there. First 6 jurors are chosen for Trump’s hush money criminal trial; 12 more still neededNEW YORK (AP) — The first six jurors for Donald Trump’s hush money trial were chosen Tuesday after lawyers grilled members of the jury pool about their social media posts, political views and personal lives to decide whether they can sit in fair judgment of the former president. The panelists who were sworn in are an IT worker, an English teacher, an oncology nurse, a sales professional, a software engineer and a corporate lawyer. Twelve more people still need to be picked before opening statements begin as early as next week in the Manhattan case accusing the Republican of falsifying business records to cover up a sex scandal during his 2016 campaign. The trial, which began Monday, puts Trump’s legal problems at the center of his closely contested race against President Joe Biden. It’s the first of Trump’s four criminal cases to go to trial, and it may be the only one to reach a verdict before voters decide in November whether to elect the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. They are up to 7.
They are looking for a total of 18 or something like that. I would think they would seat extra alternates - for reasons I won’t say out loud.

i am a little surprised that this trial is only slated to go 4-6 weeks. that seems short, given the witness list and the gravity of the proceedings.

A good friend of mine was an was alternate juror on the Scott Peterson trial. She was appalled to hear Peterson and his lawyers are trying to get the conviction overturned.

"This is a trial that should never happen. It should have been thrown out a long time ago," he told reporters.
it WAS thrown out a long time ago, you moron. it was "un-thrown out" a little over a year ago.

I was reading something - might also have been Haberman? That during his time in the WH he would schedule ‘executive time’ for hours every morning to apply the skin bronzer and fluff and spray the bouffant - but now, he’s got to get all that done before court starts every morning. Plus add in the early morning rants on Truth Social and no wonder he can’t keep his eyes open.

one should always assume that if Trump accuses someone of something, it is something he does.
so, i am guessing speed and nodding off are part of his thing.

"I should be right now in Pennsylvania, in Florida, in many other states — North Carolina, Georgia — campaigning," Trump said Tuesday. i got a great idea, then! plead guilty to all charges, and then you will be released awaiting sentencing!

Or jet right out after adjournment, hold a late evening rally wherever, jet back for the next day in court. I'm sure you have the stamina, right?

If the Feds declined to prosecute Trump on fraud charges, how can Bragg prosecute him on a on the same fraud charges? And the NY statute of limitations has passed? I'm not a lawyer so not sure which applies to Trumps case. I thought all this happened in 2016 so the clock has run out: "An action based upon fraud; the time within which the action must be commenced shall be the greater of six years from the date the cause of action accrued or two years from the time the plaintiff or the person under whom the plaintiff claims discovered the fraud, or could with reasonable diligence have discovered it". Or this one.
"For falsifying business records to a second degree, a conviction will result in a Class A misdemeanor. All misdemeanors in New York have a statute of limitations for two years. On the other hand, falsifying business records in the first degree is a Class E felony. A felony offense statute of limitations is five years".
