Do you think he (or the GOP) has enough power to kill it, or that there won’t be enough evidence to prosecute, or that a grand jury would never indict him? Or for another reason? i think he will weasel his way out of it with a negotiated settlement.

If this is a criminal charge and he accepts a plea deal by accepting a lesser charge would’t that still give him a criminal record and wouldn’t being a felon prevent him from running for office in 2024?

The Daily Beast found texts from a GA GOP county chair and an election board member showing they were plotting to allow pro Trump outsiders to access the county’s election computers.
A team of computer forensic specialists flew in/ drove down from Atlanta - Trumps team also included this group when they organized a plan to seize, collect and retain and analyze election equipment.
Should be good to know for the Georgia lawsuit against Trump.

Not surprising. Not surprising at all. Fourth Trump golf course accused of breaking federal law: report
Adding to former President Donald Trump's legal problems, Forbes reports that there have been multiple instances of misuse of the Presidential seal on his golf courses, a single case of which that carries a penalty of six months in jail. According to Forbes' Zach Everson, a recent photo posted to Instagram shows the presidential seal displayed prominently in the fairway at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, with a caption that reads, "45th President 45 yards from hole on 18.” As Everson notes, not only is the use of the seal in this manner prohibited, but it is the fourth Trump golf course to be in violation of the law, as it is also displayed at Trump golf properties in the Bronx, New Jersey and Jupiter, Florida. According to18 U.S. Code § 713, "Whoever knowingly displays any printed or other likeness of the great seal of the United States, or of the seals of the President or the Vice President of the United States, or the seal of the United States Senate, or the seal of the United States House of Representatives, or the seal of the United States Congress, or any facsimile thereof, in, or in connection with, any advertisement, poster, circular, book, pamphlet, or other publication, public meeting, play, motion picture, telecast, or other production, or on any building, monument, or stationery, for the purpose of conveying, or in a manner reasonably calculated to convey, a false impression of sponsorship or approval by the Government of the United States or by any department, agency, or instrumentality thereof, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both." According to the Forbes report, the Trumps are likely aware that they are breaking the law, with Everson writing, "In 2018, a podcast named 'Trump, Inc.' from ProPublica and WNYC, uncovered a batch of markers similar to the ones that have appeared recently at Trump properties. At the time, the Trump Organization blamed the incident on diehard supporters and quickly got rid of the markers. "The plaques were presented to the club by a small group of members, who are incredible fans of the president, in honor of Presidents’ Day weekend," the business said in a 2018 statement to the podcast. "They were temporary and have since been removed." Forbes reports that the manufacturer of the seals, Eagle Sign and Design in Kentucky, did not respond to questions about who is ordering them. i would love for this case to carry through to it's logical conclusion. Trump still thinks he's president. the conclusion of the case would state otherwise.

Judge rejects Trump lawsuit challenging ban from Twitter
A San Francisco judge tossed out former President Donald Trump’s lawsuit challenging his permanent ban from Twitter. U.S. District Judge James Donato said Friday that Trump failed to show Twitter violated his First Amendment right to free speech. Free speech rights don’t apply to private companies and Trump failed to show Twitter was working as a state actor on behalf of Democrats, the judge wrote. “The amended complaint merely offers a grab-bag of allegations to the effect that some Democratic members of Congress wanted Mr. Trump, and ‘the views he espoused,’ to be banned from Twitter because such ‘content and views’ were ‘contrary to those legislators’ preferred points of view,'” Donato wrote. “But the comments of a handful of elected officials are a far cry from a ‘rule of decision for which the State is responsible.’ Legislators are perfectly free to express opinions without being deemed the official voice of ‘the State.'” Trump sued Twitter, Facebook and Google’s YouTube in July 2021, claiming they illegally censored him. The platforms suspended Trump after the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, in which his followers violently stormed the Capitol building in an attempt to block Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s presidential win. The companies cited concerns he would incite further violence. The ruling comes as Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest man, is in the process of purchasing Twitter for $44 billion. The deal has raised questions about whether, Musk, a self-described free speech absolutist, would reinstate the former president. Trump, who has continued to repeat lies about his 2020 election defeat in speeches, has started his own social network, Truth Social. He said last week that he wouldn’t rejoin Twitter if given the chance. The suit had sought to reinstate Trump’s account, which had roughly 89 million followers, and those of five others who claimed they were also censored by Twitter. The group had sought unspecified damages and class action status on behalf of others removed from the platform. Legal experts had predicted the lawsuit would fail but suggested Trump would milk it for political purposes. Trump’s political action committee immediately began raising money after the lawsuit was announced last year. The lawsuit had also sought a declaration that Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act was unconstitutional. The act says providers such as Twitter can moderate services by removing obscene posts that violate their standards and cannot be held responsible for content posted by others. Trump had only shown a “vague and speculative allegation” that he believed he would not have been banned if Twitter wasn’t granted immunity by Section 230, Donato said. Donato gave Trump another opportunity to amend his complaint. Trump’s lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Judge rejects Trump lawsuit challenging ban from Twitter Ahh, but the soon to be owner of Twitter says he will allow Trump to join. And the founder of Twitter says banning Trump for life was the wrong thing to do. Your god is a hypocrite. Trump’s Truth Social Is Banning Users Who Post About Jan. 6 Hearings, According to ReportsThe irony is rich: Truth Social, Donald Trump’s Twitter copycat claiming it is “free from political discrimination,” has reportedly banned users who posted information from Thursday’s congressional hearing on the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol — in which the former president is a key focus. That’s according to several posts on Twitter by users who claimed Truth Social was censoring them. Reps for Trump Media & Technology Group, which owns and operates Truth Social, did not respond to a request for comment. Travis Allen, whose Twitter bio describes him as an information security analyst, on Thursday evening posted a screenshot from the Truth Social app that said “Account suspended,” and he wrote: “My Truth Social account was just permanently suspended for talking about the January 6th Committee hearings.” He added, “So much for ‘free speech.’ This is censorship!” Allen did not provide details about what allegedly led to Truth Social kicking him off the platform. “Seeing a lot of folks getting banned from Trump’s Truth Social for posting updates about the January 6 Committee hearings,” Max Burns, communications director for Democratic New York State Assemblywoman Yuh-Line Niou, tweeted Friday. “Apparently free speech has its limits even in Trumpland.” Also Friday morning, another Twitter user reported, “Just put out my first post on Truth social and they deleted it. Real freedom of speech champs there.” Truth Social’s terms of service state, “We reserve the right to, in our sole discretion and without notice or liability, deny access to and use of the service (including blocking certain IP addresses), to any person for any reason or for no reason… We may terminate your use or participation in the service or delete [your account and] any content or information that you posted at any time, without warning, in our sole discretion.” (Twitter’s terms of service include similar language.) In the U.S., under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, internet platforms like Truth Social have legal protections for their content-moderation decisions — a carve-out that Trump unsuccessfully sought to revoke when he occupied the White House. Twitter permanently banned Trump in the days after the Jan. 6, 2021, riot citing the risk of ongoing violence after he posted a video praising the violent mob seeking to overturn the 2020 election. Billionaire Elon Musk, whose $44 billion bid for Twitter is pending, has called Twitter’s ban of the ex-president a mistake and a decision he would reverse. nope. but it shows that Truth Social is not about the Truth. it is about accretion of power for its titular leader. i just checked, and the stock for that company has fallen 75% in the last quarter.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is scheduled to appear before the J6 Committee tomorrow (Tuesday, June 21). Watergate prosecutor: Georgia case could ‘send Donald Trump to prison’A prosecutor who worked on the Watergate case against Richard Nixon 50 years ago said on Sunday that a Georgia election interference case is the most likely to send former President Trump to prison. “I think that’s enough. If you’re asking me which of the cases right now, which one is going to send Donald Trump to prison, that’s the case,” Nick Akerman told MSNBC on Sunday, referring to a January 2021 call between Trump and Georgia’s secretary of state. “If I had to put my money on one prosecution that’s going to go forward here that would send Donald Trump to jail, it’s Georgia,” Akerman, a former prosecutor with the Watergate Special Prosecution Force under Archibald Cox and Leon Jaworski, said. “No question about it.” Fulton County in Georgia has convened a special grand jury to investigate Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in the state. The case centers on the call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R). Trump, who had asked Raffensperger to “find” 11,780 votes to overturn President Biden’s victory in the state, has described the phone call as “perfect.” “My phone call to the Georgia Secretary of State, with many other people, including numerous lawyers, knowingly on the line, was absolutely PERFECT and appropriate. YES, it was a PERFECT CALL,” he said in a statement emailed late Sunday. The Fulton County probe comes as the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection is holding ongoing hearings this month about the events that led up to a pro-Trump mob storming the U.S. Capitol. So far, lawmakers have painted a dark picture of the violent assault on the Capitol and democracy, which they say was led by the former president’s rhetoric that the 2020 election was stolen. Last week, they began showing evidence that many members of Trump’s inner circle repeatedly told him there was no evidence the election was rife with fraud. They also showed his efforts to pressure then-Vice President Mike Pence to refuse to certify the election results, which Trump knew was illegal because he had been informed so by his advisers. In Georgia, the investigative panel began hearing from witnesses this month, including Raffensperger. The special grand jury will ultimately recommend whether county prosecutors should prosecute Trump criminally for election interference. Akerman, whose work probing an illegal break-in at the Democratic National Committee’s headquarters in 1972 substantiated ties to Nixon’s reelection campaign and led to the former president’s resignation, also said on MSNBC the Nixon case occurred in a vastly different political climate than Trump’s. “All of Nixon’s aides were indicted, they were convicted. The only person who didn’t go to prison was Nixon, because he was pardoned,” Akerman said. “There was accountability in the end.” Akerman said the “real question” is whether Trump would be held accountable criminally. While Republicans initially defended Nixon, they had a change of heart when recorded tapes and evidence presented a solid case. He said because Georgia prosecutors have tape-recorded evidence of the phone call between Trump and Raffensperger, they also have an extremely strong case. “There’s a three-year felony in Georgia that Trump has violated. Prosecutors love tape-recorded evidence, because you can’t cross-examine it,” Akerman explained. “What’s significant with those tapes is — when you put it into the context of all the evidence the Jan. 6 committee has uncovered, you put that together — Donald Trump has zero defense in Georgia,” he added. Watergate prosecutor: Georgia case could ‘send Donald Trump to prison’

I’ve always wondered what he means by a ‘perfect’ phone call.
And does he really think we would believe he wouldn’t say anything potentially criminal because lawyers were on the phone?

7 Trump Allies Subpoenaed in Georgia Criminal InvestigationRudy Giuliani, Lindsey Graham, John Eastman and several others in the former president’s orbit were subpoenaed in the election meddling inquiry. Seven advisers and allies of Donald J. Trump, including Rudolph W. Giuliani and Senator Lindsey Graham, were subpoenaed on Tuesday in the ongoing criminal investigation in Georgia of election interference by Mr. Trump and his associates. The move was the latest sign that the investigation has entangled a number of prominent members of Mr. Trump’s orbit, and may cloud the future for the former president himself. The subpoenas underscore the breadth of the investigation being conducted by Fani T. Willis, the district attorney of Fulton County, which encompasses most of Atlanta. She is weighing a range of charges, according to legal filings, including racketeering and conspiracy, and her inquiry has encompassed witnesses from beyond the state’s borders. The latest round of subpoenas was reported earlier by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. A subpoena is not an indication that someone is a subject of an inquiry, though some of the latest recipients are considered at risk in the case, in particular Mr. Giuliani, a personal lawyer for Mr. Trump who has emerged as a central figure in the grand jury proceedings in the Georgia investigation. Mr. Giuliani spent several hours speaking before state legislative panels in December 2020, where he peddled false conspiracy theories about corrupted voting machines and a video that he claimed showed secret suitcases of Democratic ballots. He told members of the State House at the time, “You cannot possibly certify Georgia in good faith.” Ms. Willis’s office, in its subpoena, said Mr. Giuliani “possesses unique knowledge concerning communications between himself, former President Trump, the Trump campaign, and other known and unknown individuals involved in the multistate, coordinated efforts to influence the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere.” Though the subpoenas were issued Tuesday, not all had necessarily been received. Robert J. Costello, a lawyer for Mr. Giuliani, said, “We have not been served with any subpoena, therefore we have no current comment.” Others sent subpoenas included Jenna Ellis, a lawyer who worked closely with Mr. Giuliani to overturn the 2020 election results; John Eastman, the legal architect of a plan to keep Mr. Trump in power by using fake electors, and Mr. Graham, the South Carolina Republican who called the Georgia secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, a fellow Republican, days after the election to inquire about the rules for discarding mail-in ballots. Not a Trump lawsuit, but trouble for his media buddies. www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-06-21/fox-corp-loses-bid-to-toss-dominion-suit-over-election-claimsA judge allows a lawsuit by dominion against Fox to continue, saying that Rupert Murdoch and his son may have acted with actual malice in allowing comments they knew to be false to be aired on Fox. In another article (which I can’t find now) speculated that this kind of financial loss would seriously impact Fox - but it will likely bankrupt OAN, which doesn’t have the resources Fox does. Can’t work up any regrets for either of them. Spout bullshit because your audience likes bullshit leaves you subject to lawsuits from the companies you screw over. I’m sure they can milk the MAGA heads for some pity donations.

Trump secretly left his social media company's board shortly before federal subpoenas droppedDonald Trump removed himself from the board of his social media company just weeks before the company was issued federal subpoenas. The former president was removed as chairman of the Trump Media and Technology Group, along with five other board members, on June 8, records show, and the Securities and Exchange Commission issued a subpoena to the Florida-based company on June 27 and the a grand jury in the Southern District of New York issued another on July 1, reported the Herald-Tribune. The investigation appears to be related to the proposed $1.3 billion merger between the media company and a special purpose acquisition company called Digital World Acquisitions Corp., whose directors were served subpoenas seeking similar records to those sought from Trump Media, which issued a statement pledging full cooperation. However, that statement did not mention Trump -- who had a licensing deal with the company to use his name -- was no longer chairman, but still listed former Rep. Devin Nunes as chief executive officer and businessman Phillip Juhan as chief financial officer. The other board members removed with Trump were Kashyap Patel, a Nunes ally who served various roles in the former president's administration, Donald Trump Jr., and former Trump assistant Scott Glabe. SPACs are blank-check companies formed to raise money to go public with the intent to find a company to merge with, but they are prohibited from finding a partner before going public, and the SEC is investigating whether Digital World Acquisitions and Trump Media held premature talks about such a deal. Timing is everything. Trump fraud probe testimony delayed over Ivana's deathEx-president Donald Trump's deposition in New York's civil probe into alleged fraud at his family business has been postponed following the death of his first wife, a justice official severything. Trump and his eldest children, Donald Jr and Ivanka, had been due to start testifying under oath in New York Attorney General Letitia James's probe on Friday. But a spokesperson for James said the depositions had been delayed because of the death Thursday of Ivana Trump, who was Donald Jr and Ivanka's mother. "In light of the passing of Ivana Trump yesterday, we received a request from counsel for Donald Trump and his children to adjourn all three depositions, which we have agreed to," the spokesperson said in a statement emailed to AFP. "This is a temporary delay and the depositions will be rescheduled as soon as possible. There is no other information about dates or otherwise to provide at this time. "We offer our condolences to the Trump family," she added. Ivana Trump died aged 73 at her home in Manhattan. Police are investigating whether she accidentally fell down the stairs and the city's medical examiner is due to determine the cause of death. Had trump been the host of the Biggest Loser show he would have been the winner by default. Trump responds to Pulitzer rejection of demand to revoke reporting awardsFormer President Trump on Monday cast the Pulitzer Prize board’s rejection of his demand to revoke awards given to The New York Times and The Washington Post as “running cover” for “the biggest reporting failure in modern history.” The board earlier Monday said it would not fulfill multiple requests by Trump to rescind awards to the staff of the two newspapers in 2018 for reporting on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election because it saw no reason to do so. “The Pulitzer Board has taken away any shred of credibility it had left with its ‘response’ regarding the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting, which was awarded to The New York Times and The Washington Post for blatant fake news,” Trump said in a statement. “Instead of acting with integrity and providing transparency, the Pulitzer Board is running cover for the biggest reporting failure in modern history: the fake Russia Russia Russia collusion hoax,” he added. Trump then suggested that the only Pulitzer the two newspapers should be awarded was if a new category called “disinformation” was created. “The truth is that the 2018 Pulitzer Prize was handed out for reporting that merely parroted political disinformation—disinformation that we know was fabricated by foreign operatives and my political opponents,” Trump said. “If the Pulitzer Prize has become a blatant acknowledgement of false, liberal political propaganda, then the Pulitzer Board should just say so,” he added. The board said it conducted a review and found no reason to revoke the news outlets’ rewards. “The separate reviews converged in their conclusions: that no passages or headlines, contentions or assertions in any of the winning submissions were discredited by facts that emerged subsequent to the conferral of the prizes,” the board said in its statement, adding, “The 2018 Pulitzer Prizes in National Reporting stand.” Trump said that he would “continue doing everything possible to right the wrong caused by the 2018 Pulitzer Prize,” adding that he would do the same when it came to the Jan. 6 committee’s investigations into his involvement in the Capitol riot.
