We need to create a ‘everything he touches turns to shit’ thread. The real estate firm Trump uses is getting thrown under the bus for violating the rules for Trump. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/judge-says-real-estate-giant-broke-rules-for-trump/ar-AAWFusD?li=BBnb7KzRather than actually create true real estate valuations for Trumip’s property, they wrote down they were worth whatever Trump said they were worth, which varied depending on what Trump whether Trump was avoiding taxes or requesting loans. Once, they allowed Trump to simply triple the square footage of his Trump tower condo to inflate the price, because I guess square footage is not really a scientific measure but subject to whims. How the DA is investigating the real estate firm for lying. Lay down with dogs, get up with fleas.

he is the worst businessman i have ever seen. which shows you how far money and privilege can take you.
i didn't have a lot of respect for Herman Cain as a human being, but he was a far better businessman than Trump.

Trump settled the lawsuit where he was accused of funneling inauguration money into the Trump International Hotel.
$750,000. Trump, Inc and the former 2017 inauguration committee will jointly pay the fine.
Not to worry though, somehow Trump will get the RNC to cover the cost.
The settlement came with no admission of guilt.
Article in Raw Story but I’m guessing it doesn’t get much attention elsewhere, although you would think a president’s company agreeing to pay nearly a million bucks in fines would. I guess for any other President it might.

Trump organizations agree to pay $750,000 to settle lawsuit with DistrictD.C. Office of the Attorney General alleged organizations illegally used nonprofit funds donated for inauguration to instead benefit Trump and his family The Trump Organization and former president Donald Trump’s presidential inaugural committee on Tuesday agreed to pay the District $750,000 to settle a lawsuit the city filed alleging the organizations misused nonprofit funds to benefit the former president and his family. The city’s Office of the Attorney General filed a lawsuit in 2020 in D.C. Superior Court alleging the inaugural committee, a nonprofit corporation, coordinated with Trump’s family to overpay for event space in the Trump International Hotel in downtown Washington and even paid for space on days when it did not hold events. Lawyers for the District also accused Trump’s organization of improperly using nonprofit funds to throw a private party on Jan. 20, 2017, for Trump’s children — Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric — which cost $300,000. The city also alleged the Trump Organization, the inaugural committee and the Trump International Hotel misused $1.1 million. D.C. Attorney General Karl A. Racine said the settlement enables the city to “claw back money” Trump’s inaugural committee misused. “After he was elected, one of the first actions Donald Trump took was illegally using his own inauguration to enrich his family,” Racine said in a statement. “We refused to let that corruption stand. No one is above the law — not even a president. Nonprofit funds cannot be used to line the pockets of individuals, no matter how powerful they are. Now any future presidential inaugural committees are on notice that they will not get away with such egregious actions.” Nonprofits such as Trump’s committee cannot use funds to give private benefits to its leaders. Trump was not formally an officer of the inaugural committee, but Racine has asserted that for the purposes of the lawsuit, Trump and his family should still be treated as its leaders because they exercised control off the books. Lee Blalack, counsel for the inaugural committee, in a statement, described the attorney general’s claims as “baseless” and said the group settled to avoid litigation costs, which would have been covered by its insurance company, but could have exceeded the agreed-upon settlement amount. Blalack added that if the case had gone to trial, the organization would have “prevailed based on the evidence.” Trump organizations agree to pay $750,000 to settle lawsuit with District

Chump change and he is still golden. All this emotion spewed here and he escapes again and again. The New York investigation is also about going belly up very soon. Politics....... That was the NYC investigation. The NY state investigation of trump is on going and not looking too good for trump. NY attorney general's office says it's nearly done unraveling Trump's 'Russian nesting doll'New York (CNN)Lawyers for the New York State Attorney General's Office said they are nearly finished with their civil investigation into the Trump Organization, after taking steps to unravel the real estate company's assets that they described as being as complex as a "Russian nesting doll." They still want to search two cell phones belonging to former President Donald Trump and the laptop and desktop of his longtime executive assistant Rhona Graff, but investigators told a judge this week they're moving quickly. "The process is near the end," Kevin Wallace, senior enforcement counsel at the New York State Attorney General's Office, said Monday. A third-party firm hired to search the Trump Organization's files had identified 151 custodians, or people or entities, that might have documents sought by the attorney general's office, but Wallace said they are focusing on the "most important outstanding pieces of information" because the clock is ticking for it to file a lawsuit. The statute of limitations for various laws under consideration goes back several years, but the tolling agreement with the Trump Organization that paused the clock expires on Saturday. Even as the agreement expires, it could still be several weeks before the attorney general's office decides its next step in the investigation. The comments came during a court hearing Monday, when New York state Judge Arthur Engoron held Trump in civil contempt and fined him $10,000 per day for failing to comply with a subpoena for documents relating to New York's investigation into the Trump Organization's finances. (Trump appealed the order Wednesday.) Lawyers for the New York State Attorney General's Office provided a glimpse into their investigation, which has spanned three years, after the judge asked them to explain what is taking so long and where it is heading. "Given the upcoming end of the tolling agreement we will likely need to bring some kind of enforcement action in the near future to preserve our rights," Wallace said. He noted that before they file the attorney general's office has agreed to meet with the Trump Organization attorneys and "allow them to make their case" and discuss what any "appropriate resolutions might look like." In addition to the tolling agreement's expiration, evidence may become stale and memories may fade, Wallace noted. "Counsel is in favor of moving as quickly as we can." The civil investigation has been hanging over Trump for several years. He has been focused on the investigation that threatens his family business, calling Attorney General Letitia James "racist" and accusing her of pursuing him for political gain. Rest of article here; NY attorney general's office says it's nearly done unraveling Trump's 'Russian nesting doll'And Georgia isn't looking too good for trump either. A special grand jury was picked to probe Trump's actions in the 2020 Georgia election

Chump change and he is still golden. All this emotion spewed here and he escapes again and again. The New York investigation is also about going belly up very soon. Politics....... The money isn’t the point. The point is that we had a president who grifted the whole four years he was in office, and people like you, his supporters, shrug that off. The inauguration committee takes in donations from people who want to help celebrate a new president getting elected. Sure some donations came from big corporations, but small dollar donors like my SIL, so happy that Trump got elected, sent in their fifties and hundreds as well. And Trump saw that as his personal slush fund, there to siphon off. Ivanka arranged to charge more than the regular market price for hotel rooms no one stayed in. She rented meetings rooms at greatly inflated prices - and three a private Trump celebratory dinner that cost tens of thousands of dollars - all paid for by the suckers who sent their bucks into the inauguration fund. That doesn’t bother you even a little bit? Can you name another president who so blatantly stole donor money starting with the very first days of his term? It’s not how much he stole. He’s the fact that he was perfectly happy to send his princess over to line the Trump Inc pockets with sucker money - and no one seems to care, not even the suckers that donated the money. Sad.

Imagine if you had a natural disaster where you lived and talked about it on this board, and several kindly posters sent you money to help with the recovery.
Imagine then pocketing that money and keeping it for yourself.
I can’t think of a single board member, regardless of political leanings, who would consider doing something so shitty. Stealing from donations has to be one of the most soulless acts.
And Trump does it repeatedly- from the inauguration fund, from Trumps own company charity, from a charity one of his sons ran- and that gets shrugged off as chump change.
It’s a red flag - anyone who does it should never be trusted. And yet 33% of the voters just don’t care.

Judge rejects Trump lawsuit challenging ban from Twitter
A San Francisco judge tossed out former President Donald Trump’s lawsuit challenging his permanent ban from Twitter. U.S. District Judge James Donato said Friday that Trump failed to show Twitter violated his First Amendment right to free speech. Free speech rights don’t apply to private companies and Trump failed to show Twitter was working as a state actor on behalf of Democrats, the judge wrote. “The amended complaint merely offers a grab-bag of allegations to the effect that some Democratic members of Congress wanted Mr. Trump, and ‘the views he espoused,’ to be banned from Twitter because such ‘content and views’ were ‘contrary to those legislators’ preferred points of view,'” Donato wrote. “But the comments of a handful of elected officials are a far cry from a ‘rule of decision for which the State is responsible.’ Legislators are perfectly free to express opinions without being deemed the official voice of ‘the State.'” Trump sued Twitter, Facebook and Google’s YouTube in July 2021, claiming they illegally censored him. The platforms suspended Trump after the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, in which his followers violently stormed the Capitol building in an attempt to block Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s presidential win. The companies cited concerns he would incite further violence. The ruling comes as Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest man, is in the process of purchasing Twitter for $44 billion. The deal has raised questions about whether, Musk, a self-described free speech absolutist, would reinstate the former president. Trump, who has continued to repeat lies about his 2020 election defeat in speeches, has started his own social network, Truth Social. He said last week that he wouldn’t rejoin Twitter if given the chance. The suit had sought to reinstate Trump’s account, which had roughly 89 million followers, and those of five others who claimed they were also censored by Twitter. The group had sought unspecified damages and class action status on behalf of others removed from the platform. Legal experts had predicted the lawsuit would fail but suggested Trump would milk it for political purposes. Trump’s political action committee immediately began raising money after the lawsuit was announced last year. The lawsuit had also sought a declaration that Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act was unconstitutional. The act says providers such as Twitter can moderate services by removing obscene posts that violate their standards and cannot be held responsible for content posted by others. Trump had only shown a “vague and speculative allegation” that he believed he would not have been banned if Twitter wasn’t granted immunity by Section 230, Donato said. Donato gave Trump another opportunity to amend his complaint. Trump’s lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Judge rejects Trump lawsuit challenging ban from Twitter

Federal Grand Jury looking at Trump taking classified documents to Mar A Lago.
Apparently people very rarely get indicted for mishandling classified documents though.

One of the worst ones I read about they decided to fine him instead of making the issue visible. So Trump will likely pay a fine if they charge him.

I think what was originally in the news a few months ago was that the DOJ was investigating- apparently they decided there was enough’there’ there to take it to the grand jury. Of course we don’t know who they think dropped the ball on maintaining control of the classified info - who put it on the moving van.

So I thought this grand jury wasn’t much, but maybe it is. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/investigation-trump-s-handling-classified-documents-huge-n1295419According to this, DOJ wouldn’t have bothered bringing this to the grand jury if they didn’t think they could pursue criminal charges. And they’d have to feel like they had enough proof to overcome Trumip’s two most likely defenses - 1) some low level clerk collected the documents or 2) I’m the president, I can decide what’s classified or not. You won’t think it would be worth trying to show that, right? Only the speculation is that Trump had stored those 15 boxes in the private Trump quarters at the WH - and possibly for YEARS. Possibly, in reviewing what documents he kept, he might have been putting aside documents that he thought he could sell for a PROFIT. If they can prove that, Trump might go to jail. And IMHO, sounds exactly like a scheme he would do.

Trump loses appeal, must testify in New York civil probeNEW YORK (AP) — Former President Donald Trump must answer questions under oath in New York state’s civil investigation into his business practices, a state appeals court ruled Thursday. A four-judge panel in the appellate division of the state’s trial court upheld Manhattan Judge Arthur Engoron’s Feb. 17 ruling enforcing subpoenas for Trump and his two eldest children to give deposition testimony in Attorney General Letitia James' probe. Trump had appealed, seeking to overturn the ruling. His lawyers argued that ordering the Trumps to testify violated their constitutional rights because their answers could be used in a parallel criminal investigation. “The existence of a criminal investigation does not preclude civil discovery of related facts, at which a party may exercise the privilege against self-incrimination,” the four-judge panel wrote, citing the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. Message seeking comment were left with lawyers for the Trumps and with James' office. The Trumps could still appeal the ruling to the state’s highest court, the Court of Appeals. James, a Democrat, has said her investigation has uncovered evidence Trump’s company, the Trump Organization, used “fraudulent or misleading” valuations of assets like golf courses and skyscrapers to get loans and tax benefits. Thursday's ruling could mean a tough decision for Trump about whether to answer questions, or stay silent, citing his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. Anything Trump says in a civil deposition could be used against him in the criminal probe being overseen by the Manhattan district attorney’s office. At a hearing prior to Engoron’s Feb. 17 ruling, Trump’s lawyers argued that having him sit for a civil deposition is an improper attempt to get around a state law barring prosecutors from calling someone to testify before a criminal grand jury without giving them immunity. A lawyer for the attorney general’s office told Engoron that it wasn’t unusual to have civil and criminal investigations proceeding at the same time, and Engoron rejected a request from lawyers for the Trumps to pause the civil probe until the criminal matter is over. Last summer, spurred by evidence uncovered in James’ civil investigation, the Manhattan district attorney’s office charged the Trump Organization and its longtime finance chief, Allen Weisselberg, with tax fraud, alleging he collected more than $1.7 million in off-the-books compensation. Weisselberg and the company have pleaded not guilty. Trump loses appeal, must testify in New York civil probe

Judge dismisses Trump's lawsuit, allowing NY probe to go onNEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge on Friday dismissed Donald Trump’s lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James, rejecting the former president’s claim that she targeted him out of political animus and allowing her civil investigation into his business practices to continue. In a 43-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Brenda Sannes wrote that case law bars federal judges from interfering in state-level investigations, with limited exceptions, and that there wasn't evidence to support the Republican's contention that James, a Democrat, was proceeding in bad faith because of their differing political views. Sannes, who was appointed in 2014 by former President Barack Obama, a Democrat, said James had a legitimate basis for investigating Trump and his company, the Trump Organization, and that Trump failed to show that recent court proceedings seeking to enforce subpoenas on him were “commenced for the purpose of retaliation.” James' public statements about Trump “make clear that she disagrees vehemently with Mr. Trump’s political views,” Sannes wrote, but Trump and his lawyers failed to demonstrate any connection between her opinions and how the investigation has played out. "The fact that (James') public statements reflect personal and/or political animus toward (Trump) is not, in and of itself, sufficient,” Sannes wrote. James heralded Friday’s ruling as a “big victory” over a “frivolous” lawsuit. Sannes’ decision came a day after a New York appeals court ruled that Trump must answer questions under oath in James’ probe, upholding a lower-court ruling requiring him to sit for a deposition. “Time and time again, the courts have made clear that Donald J. Trump’s baseless legal challenges cannot stop our lawful investigation into his and the Trump Organization’s financial dealings,” James said in a written statement. “No one in this country can pick and choose how the law applies to them, and Donald Trump is no exception. As we have said all along, we will continue this investigation undeterred.” Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, questioned Sannes’ justification for dismissing the lawsuit — singling out, by name, the legal precedent at issue — and said they would take the matter to the 2nd U.S. Court of Appeals. “There is no question that we will be appealing this decision,” Habba said. “If Ms. James’s egregious conduct and harassing investigation does not meet the bad faith exception to the Younger abstention doctrine, then I cannot imagine a scenario that would.” Trump sued James in December, resorting to a familiar but seldom successful strategy of litigation in an attempt to end the three-year investigation, which James has said uncovered evidence Trump’s company misstated the value of assets like skyscrapers and golf courses on financial statements for more than a decade. Harvard law expert predicts GA has enough evidence against Trump for pressuring Raffensburger to ‘find 11,000 votes for him.’ - he thinks the charges will stick and Trump will be indicted. I wasn’t aware that Trump also threatened Raffensburger with criminal action if he didn’t provide him with those 11,000 extra votes. www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-georgia-indictment-predicted-legal-expert-laurence-tribe-1711018I wonder where they would pull the jury pool from? The Atlanta area, which is very diverse, or across the state? State as a whole would have a lot of voters who wouldn’t indict Trump for literally shooting someone on Peachtree street, live on camera and with the Atlanta 1st Baptist church choir as witnesses.

Do you think he (or the GOP) has enough power to kill it, or that there won’t be enough evidence to prosecute, or that a grand jury would never indict him? Or for another reason?
