you didn't answer the question.Β if Trump were in the WH, and Biden was facing 88 felony counts, would you be taking the position that it was an unjust political persecution? there is zero evidence to back up your final assertion.Β there is STRONG evidence that the only reason Trump is running is to lessen his odds of getting held to account.Β have you considered that? As I said above, I would side with Biden if the roles were reversed and faced malicious prosecution. Bullshit.

for those of you interested in the SCOTUS case, i recommend watching this: i have found Popak to be right almost always. and i think he is right here. this will be referred back to either appeals or Chutkan. i hope it goes back to Chutkan for reasons i will give later. Not sure who they tipped their hat to after the argument, but it was a great analysis of how they tipped their hand during the argument.

Cheer up Rip - if the Supreme Court sides with Trump and says it is legal for a President to do anything as long as it is for the good of the country - Biden can have Trump murdered and the Don wonβt have any legal troubles - and neither will Biden. No War of the Roses here. Enter the era of the war of the (wo)men in Black - aka the Secret Service. Though the advantage goes to Biden as he, as Commander in Chief, has quite a bit of additional manpower at his disposal.,

If itβs so easy to create a malicious prosecution case that they have so many against Trump, why hasnβt the GOP been able to fabricate a case against Biden or Hunter and the criminal Biden syndicate? Not a single one? And how is it Georgia, usually a very red state, allow a case against Trump, if these are so easy to manipulate? There has to be a majority GOP slant in their state DOJ. And why did usually red Arizona file cases against the fake Trump electors, but not against all the hundreds of thousands of fake votes the Dems must have cast in 2020?

By the way, speaking of lawsuits, Hunter Bidenβs lawyers are launching a big lawsuit against Fox News for a prolonged campaign of misrepresenting facts about Hunter, and displaying intimate pictures of him.
Once Dominion won against Fox, Hunterβs lawyers decided to get busy and try their luck, too.
I wish them well. A few more mega losses and maybe Fox will fold.

That is it exactly not so sure. if it is true, then this election year will be nervewrackingly close. if it is NOT TRUE, it will be a blowout. i know it is hard to think about the future. so much is unpredictable in life. but imagine a world where "presidential candidate" and "convicted felon" are in the same sentence. imagine a world where people get to talk about the verdict, and how it was arrived at, and why. imagine a world where the caustic truth erodes away at the golden idol. that is what 2024 looks like, in my crystal ball. the great thing about the court system is that EVENTUALLY it gets it right. whether that happens in time remains to be seen.

There is no story on the Breaking News page of CNN about the Trump trial resuming. Wonder what he will do to "fix" that?

There is no story on the Breaking News page of CNN about the Trump trial resuming. Wonder what he will do to "fix" that? Donald Trumpβs hush money trial set to resume Tuesday as prosecutors continue to keep their plans secret
CNN The third week of the Donald Trump criminal hush money business fraud trial will resume Tuesday with the Manhattan district attorneyβs office continuing to be secretive about it its plan of attack. Prosecutors are expected to pick up questioning of Michael Cohenβs former banker Tuesday morning. Itβs unclear what other witnesses will take the stand this week β Prosecutors have been tightlipped on their witness order, blaming Trump for his unpredictable public comments. In court, they said they would not give Trumpβs legal team much in an effort to avoid subjecting witnesses to Trumpβs social media wrath before they take the stand. Trump fined $9000 for violating gag order. Want to bet we see a storm of social media posts that will require another contempt hearing? Maybe he can get to $100k

Judge holds Trump in contempt, fines him $9,000 and raises threat of jail in hush money trialUpdated 9:03 AM CDT, April 30, 2024 NEW YORK (AP) β Donald Trump was held in contempt of court Tuesday and fined $9,000 for repeatedly violating a gag order that barred him from making public statements about witnesses, jurors and some others connected to his New York hush money case. If he does it again, the judge warned, he could be jailed. Prosecutors had alleged 10 violations, but New York Judge Juan M. Merchan found there were nine. The ruling was a stinging rebuke for the Republican former president, who had insisted he was exercising his free speech rights. Then, I believe there will not be a final ruling in this case until after the election, so that if Biden tried to take advantage of such a ruling, they could turn around and say it is unconstitutional.

i want to take a moment to point out that we are talking about these protests EXACTLY the way we talked about the VietNam war during the time they happened. by the time i was in high school, we had a slightly different perspective on those protests.

Meh, there is a couple of months between the election and the inauguration. If Biden should lose (shudder) he has those months left to dispose of the problem, for the good of the country, and he would be fine - doing his duty as the sitting POTUS. Take any criminal case against him to the courts and delay, delay, delay. He is old enough that this should keep him out of prison

Trump recently refused to stipulate to some normal stuff like whether or not a transcript (that he has already reviewed) is a transcript of a former proceeding. So instead of just admitting it, the prosecution has to call in people from the transcription company to authenticate it. And then he bitches that the trial is taking too long.
And, of course he's now bitching about his lawyers. They aren't aggressive enough, they won't do what trump tells them to do, and they're too expensive. I'm shocked.

Apparently, trump has now been convicted of criminal contempt of court by the judge. The $9,000 is the fine for the criminal contempt of court conviction.
First time a president, past or present, has been convicted of a crime.
