Only in a true emergency. Need to make lunch and only 2 pieces of bread left.
And the TP goes over. We are not savages

Natures Own Honey Wheat is our usual bread. I've also been getting Pepperidge Farm 15 grain thin slice lately. Only white bread is an occasional loaf of French or Italian to have with spaghetti.

We're almost out of bread right now. We have less than 1/3 loaf of whole wheat. We usually have a loaf of whole wheat, whole grain, and bagels or hot dog buns or hamburger buns. DH eats a lot of bread. He loves his sandwiches!

We save the ends, and use them as an ingredient for meatloaf. If I'm just STARVING, I put on a thick slab of peanut butter, and eat.

The answer is, of course, over. You're welcome.
Nope. If you have a cat, that roll will be confetti all over the bathroom in less than 5 minutes if 'over'.

I thought it existed to keep the rest of the slices fresh! J/k, but I only eat it as a last resort, and I rarely finish a loaf of bread. I buy really good bread (Ezekiel) and it's not cheap. I keep it in the freezer so it doesn't go bad. The heel is my favorite slice. Sometimes I cheat and eat the slice on the other end before I finish the rest of the loaf.

We have a cat. Put roll over. Amazingly, we do not have that problem. Clearly an incredibly smart cat

I don't eat the heel. DH can't stand that I won't eat it, so he eats it. He hates to throw away food. That was my dad. He made sandwiches with the heels because we kids would not eat them. Sometimes, the heels were all that was left of the store-bought loaf of bread.

I only will buy white bread when I am in the mood for a PBJ sandwich. PBJ sandwiches on rye bread don't cut it for me. ETA: White bread only for peanut butter, bacon and Miracle Whip sandwiches. Feel free to flame the use of Miracle Whip. I just don't care.

Yum! Now you've got me thinking of a ham on rye sandwich. While I'm cooking something else for dinner.

PB&J on dark rye or pumpernickel. Strawberry preserves and extra crunchy PB.

Yum......now I need a Ruben! I’ve not been to the pub in Seattle in a year now, and I miss it. They make a marvelous Ruben.

I love a good Reuben with corned beef and sauerkraut on rye. Russian dressing too.

Go gourmet with a jar of good preserves/jam/jelly and another spoon!

I have 1/2 loaf of homemade (bread machine) bread. 1/2 whole wheat, 1/2 all purpose flour. My fridge was on the fritz for 50 days (took that long to get the part) so haven't kept much food around that needed cold storage. My garage was my fridge during that time. Thank god it is finally fixed.

Of course I eat both ends of a loaf of bread. It's the very best part, the gift of the Maillard reaction. Yum! Umami. Or maybe I mean oishi?

I wouldn’t want to expose myself to my own germs But the whole jar is mine all alone

Can’t finish in one meal out it goes. Fraid of germs also.

Food waste (and waste of any kind) makes ma sad. And what does it do to your grocery bill? Couldn't you put some peanut butter and jelly in dishes, eat from those and save the rest? If you don't need the extra money freed up by wasting less food, I bet the local food bank can. I understand the concern about food going bad but most things I prepare last for a week and by then I've eaten them. Condiments practically last forever.
