I have officially met all of my savings goals for the year! I'll keep working on my husband's supplemental retirement accounts to use the tax advantage aspects of those accounts. Other good news...I finally got my letter that stated my raise from my promotion. It was the same as my last one -- 8%. But, even better is my college gave all faculty a 2% across the board raise and some got a merit increase. So my total raise was 10.5%!! I'm thrilled! I hope everyone is doing well.
Hi, I had to get out my calculator on this one. Your tag line seems to be right, but your Total line on your chart is not. You have your goal column total as $75,900 but it's actually $69,000, and your Savings as $70,400 but it's actually $75,900. I think so, anyway... I believe the $70,400 number in Savings was last month. Am I right?

Seriousthistime: Oops! I filled out the table wrong. Good catch. Yes, my goal # is $69,000. I saved $75,900 this year. I went to my original post and updated the table.

Update: nooccar:
| 9/12/21 | 10/9/21 | EF | $7000 | $9000 | House | $7613.54 | $7770.68 | Travel | $1221.44 | $1492.57 | Total | $15,834.98 | $18,263.25 |
$1000 of the EF is not savings from this pay period. I neglected to include it in the starting amount. It is a consolidation from another account I closed this week and moved to my main EF. That credit union had recently been taken over and the new institution changed the terms of the account. I was not willing to comply even though the interest was very good. It was a pain to contact them to get it done but now it's done.

Seriousthistime:
I have goal totals in my head but no date set for them yet. My income can vary, so it's hard to set a date. I'm also waiting for the increase in retirement withholding to impact my take home pay. It can take them awhile.
My budget is low & posting here helps keep me from budget creep. My primary goal is to get the EF back to where it was at $12,000 before I pulled money out to finish paying off my mortgage. Then I will decide how to split the savings at that time between the various accounts I'm listing.

nooccar, to complete the chart and track your progress here, you only need a total $$$ goal (like azucena has) or sub-goals (like I have). A date for the goal to be met is something we keep in our heads, and maybe post about. The date is not something we put into the chart.

seriousthistime, okay, I guess I was thinking that these were goals for the end of the year. Thanks for the clarification. Here is the chart with a Goal column.

Nice! So your 10/9/21 tag line would be nooccar, 10/9/21, $18,263 (Goal $25,000) or some variation like this.

A couple of payday deposits this month. Closing in on 2021 goal Azucena $29,102 of $30,000 (97%) as of 9/30/2021Welcome @noocar! I hope the savers board motivates you. I like the accountability.
Payday update along with child credit deposit -> total $1795. DH got a $500 retention bonus, so we put half into his spending account. This is also his first check with his raise and included some overtime. Winning! I just sent emails yesterday to a couple of local handymen to see if they can do some small jobs around the house. If I can find someone, we will spend down some of the excess. Thinking ahead to next year's goals too.
Azucena $30,897 of $30,000 (103%) as of 9/30/2021

After some posting and reading over on the YM board, I'm going to revamp my list a bit. Rather than have a 3-6 months savings and a Home Improvement savings, those will be New Flooring and Savings Tracker Bucket. I won't be tracking the Bucket. It's just for when my bank does it's every-other-day transfer from my checking to this account. When it gets up near $100, I use it towards my CC or whatever. I also made my Roth goal the equivalent of maxing it out every year until age 72. I'm still going to track the rest so here's the updated list with my amended goal. Item | Goal | Current | New Flooring | $4000 | $807.14 | CD | $1005 | $1001.65 | Funeral Travel | $1000 | $385 | TSP | $5000 | $1156.84 | Roth IRA | $162,000 | $4015.17 | RO IRA | $60,000 | $15,994 | Annuity | xfer in 2023 | $5451.89 | Total | $233,005 | $28,811.96 |
Nidena 10/21/2021 $28,811.96 (Goal $233,811 WIRS10 of 2021)
I don't know if any other adjustments are needed but here's my last update line: Nidena 7/30/2021 $26,045.08 (Goal $145,000.00 WIRS20 of 2020)

I also made my Roth goal the equivalent of maxing it out every year until age 72. Are you planning on working until 72? I thought on the other thread you were talking about retiring in your 50's. You can't contribute to an IRA without earned income.

You can't contribute to an IRA without earned income. I don't know when I'll actually stop working. It definitely isn't in my 50s though. I feel like so long as I'm able to earn a wage, I'll keep doing so, even if only part-time or something. One year at a time, one day at a time.

Azucena $30,897 of $30,000 (103%) as of 9/30/2021
Payday deposit. Offset some by a plumbing issue that cost $1k. DH was pissed that it cost so much, but it could have caused significant damage and it didn't. I consider it maintenance, feel fortunate to easily write a check and move on. Haven't had any response to my handyman inquiries to refinish our stairs. Don't have extra time to send out more emails right now. Sure am getting tired of looking at the carpetless wood right next to our new beautiful basement flooring. Lessons learned that we should have completed the project all at once even if it cost extra.
Projecting fwd thru yearend, set a stretch goal of $35,000. Will skim the extra $5k into 2021 Roth. Time to start thinking about next year's goals and projects.
Azucena $32,450 of $30,000 (108%) as of 10/29/2021 Stretch goal $35,000

I did increase my 401K with-holding to max it (can't do the catch-up). I didn't think I could do it this year though I've done it all these years. But by doubling it for the remaining 5 paychecks (bi-monthly pay checks) I will be able to max it. So my disposable income reduced a bit and I had to draw $25 from savings for regular expenses. I hope to not do this for Nov/Dec. Annie7 9/30/2021 $68,800 (Goal $101,000)

I removed the Auto Maintenance which was done. Added in DS2's final tuition and Basement repair after Ida. I don't expect to get to the goal this year and that's ok. I'm assuming I won't need the roof replacement until 2023 and so might have some time to save for that. OK, I'm ready to start tracking my Savings goals. I will be spending most of the savings when I need to. I will tweak things as I go along. Annie7 3/31/2021 $29,200 (Goal $76,000)

As predicted, my travel savings took a big hit this past month, and the amount currently in that account is exactly what I need to pay for the last installment of the vacation rental which is due this month. So that account will be a big fat $0 at this time next month. But that money was saved to cover expenses like this, so I am good not being able to end the year having met my goal. I have had a LOT of travel expenses this year, mostly not for pleasure but for family support and care. I have been able to cash flow most of it. Has anyone begun to think about 2022 goals? Here's something to consider... will you do more of the same, tweak it, or completely revamp your goals and savings pattern?

So close nikiz628 ! How is the subbing and the company going? seriousthistime are you still buying a place near your grandson? Don't fret about that zero ... it's FABULOUS that you were able to help your children and grandson out so much, AND cashflow most of it!!! That's what savings are for, right?! We save on what doesn't matter to us so we can spend on what does! Good question about 2022 goals ... I had initially planned to retire in January 2022 but then decided to stick it out for another year. Part of me regrets it but too late now. So I am torn between continuing to work as many hours as possible and slowing down. When I decided to stick it out for another year, I told myself that I would work as much as possible till I reach retirement age, and then I'll slow down. That happens this month. So I WILL slow down as of Jan, but not as much as I'd like. I requested another class, then regretted it ... But since I requested it, if it's offered, I'll take it. We are NOT high earners but we'll be fine ... we own our home in a VHCOLA, plus a rental. The reno loan for that rental is in my signature. It's 10% of the value of the apartment.

So close nikiz628 ! How is the subbing and the company going? I haven't picked up any sub shifts since my kiddos had COVID. Mostly because there just haven't been any openings. I have 2 days next week, and 2 days the following week scheduled though. The business is going CRAZY good. I am swamped. My first vendor event is on Sunday, so I've been prepping for it like a madwoman.

The contract is conditioned on the sellers finding a new place, and so far they have not done so. The interest rate lock ends December 27. The contract closing date is December 30 with an extension, if we all agree, to January 31.

Gosh, I hadn't even thought of it yet. On one hand, same as last year? On the other - am I going to retire, then you really don't save anymore. Unless you have income form pensions, ss, etc. that is greater than your expenses, which will not be my situation - I will start to draw from accounts. So - tbd?

That's fabulous nikiz628 ! I still don't know if I'll have that extra class next semester or not. I thought I'd find out last week but it seems they are late with the staffing. Hopefully this week! I don't really care either way, although doing it would obviously be better financially. I just want to know!!!

Rukh O'Rorke [2] Multiyear MM/stocks Goal $ -335.24 (Start=$11,066.31 / Goal=$20,000) 22/26 paychecks for 2021. Not sure if I am in time for smilies, think I may have missed a paycheck update too, but this is uptodate. Edited to add: I have a long way to go for this year! Despite things going well, I may not make all my goals, which seems, not right but will see how it goes for the countdown. Do have a few RI projects before years end, already nearly done with xmas shopping since they gave a lot of warnings about supply chain effects on holiday shopping.

Saving Plan for 2022I've started to think about it. I'll be retiring from teaching in June. (Technically I'm doing what's called "Separating from Service" because I won't start drawing my pension.) Because of that, I only have until my last paycheck to make any more savings contributions. I think my last paycheck will be at the end of August 2022. At the rate I'm currently saving $3K per take home paycheck I should make my $100K goal in only 3 years when I thought it would take 5 years. Maybe I'll treat myself to one more trip to Norway with my dad with whatever I can save above the $100K.
