Article on cnn suggested that impeachment would remove his power to pardon others, at least those involved with the impeachment crimes.  Anyone know if that’s true?

Jacob Anthony Chansley, the man wearing a bearskin headdress during the US Capitol siege, has told the FBI he came to Washington earlier this week “as a part of a group effort, with other ‘patriots’ from Arizona, at the request of the President that all ‘patriots’ come to DC on January 6, 2021,” according to a narrative from investigators in his court record.



Chansley had called the FBI the day after the attack Wednesday and confirmed to them he was the person in the photos in the vice president’s chair in the Senate, the court document said.



His voluntary disclosure to the FBI is the strongest wording in court filings yet indicating coordination between followers of the President that led to the violent and destructive overrun of the Capitol, and how much they sought to follow Trump’s prompts.



No conspiracy charges have been brought related to the siege.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday Democrats are prepared to move forward with impeachment next week if Trump doesn't resign, and Trump is beginning to mull who would represent him in a Senate trial.

Giuliani, Trump's personal attorney, is expected to represent him, the sources said, and Trump is also considering hiring Dershowitz, a controversial attorney.

Dershowitz initially declined to comment to CNN, saying, "I don't talk to CNN, I sue them."

He knew about the rally, certainly.
He probably had a good idea of the level of organization and number of threats of violence.
Did he know that Trump refused to call in the National Guard to defend the Capitol?
Did he know that the Capitol Police had no specific plan to deal with the insurrectionists, beyond holding the door open for them?
How much of this was a surprise, and how much did he expect?

Having watched the speech, and the apparent emotion...I don’t think that’s just about the electoral vote.  I think he had an inkling of the broad shape of the train wreck.
