Should have gotten 33 years, the max. Twenty-two years though does send a message. I like how the less than max can be used to undercut complaints about the length of sentences.

The steps look good: Kelly sentenced Ethan Nordean and Joseph Biggs, two of the far-right organization’s top lieutenants, to 18- and 17-year prison sentences, respectively. Zachary Rehl, a local Proud Boys chapter leader, was sentenced to 15 years behind bars, while Dominic Pezzola, a low-level member and the only defendant acquitted of the seditious conspiracy charge, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. link So if it is up to 22 years at Tarrio's level, what is appropriate for those with even larger roles?

Even if there is no conviction nor jail time, Trump's place in history is written. That is what we might have to accept as satisfying.

What the hell was John McCain thinking when the powers that be convinced him to select Sarah Palin as his running mate. Sarah Palin On Insurrectionists' Prison Time: 'What's The Use In Being A Good Guy?'GOP firebrand Sarah Palin said Tuesday the prison time recently given to insurrectionists in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack “makes the good guy think, ‘What’s the use in being a good guy?’” (Watch the video below.) The interview with Newsmax’s Eric Bolling severely downplayed the prominent roles of Proud Boys gang members Zachary Rehl, Joe Biggs and Ethan Nordean. All received double-digit sentences after being convicted of seditious conspiracy for planning, encouraging and orchestrating the siege. Bolling characterized their participation as “nonviolent” and suggested they “could have simply been charged with trespassing or vandalism.” He also spoke of the Christmases they will miss with their families. Palin ― a former Alaska governor, 2008 vice presidential candidate and recent loser in a Donald Trump-endorsed bid for the House of Representatives ― echoed conservative whitewashing of the attempted coup as an example of a biased justice system. “It’s so disheartening, the examples that you’ve given, Eric,” Palin replied. “It makes the populace lose a lot of faith in our government, and that’s an understatement. Unfortunately, what this leads to, when we recognize the examples that you just gave, the two-tiered different justice systems that apply according to politics, you know, it makes the good guy think, ‘What’s the use in being a good guy? We’re gonna be punished, you know, we’re picked on, is what we are under this system.’” Rest of article here: Sarah Palin On Insurrectionists' Prison Time: 'What's The Use In Being A Good Guy?'

Plus she's a "firebrand" that gets the whackos excited. She was the test waters for candidates like Trump and MTG. She attrached the more extreme sides of the party that likely were turned off by McCain and his willingness to work across the aisle.

I would like to see a library 100 years from now to see the space dedicated to all the Trump related books. I’d like to see if the titles are along the lines of ‘How Trump Destroyed the Union’ or if they’re more like “How Democracy Barely Survived Trump..”

i must have pulled a VERY OLD version of the NPR overview of the J6 cases. here is yesterdays:
Number of people charged, federal: 1,139
Number of people who have pleaded guilty: 656
Number of individuals who have had jury, bench, or stipulated bench trials: 139
The number with mixed verdicts: 41
The number convicted on all charges: 96
The number acquitted on all charges: 2
Number of people sentenced: 618
The percentage of people sentenced who have received prison time: 64
The median sentence for those who received prison time, in days: 120
The number of cases dismissed: 7 federal
so we have 9 dismissals or acquittals, and 618 sentenced. note that the average prison time went from 30 to 120 days. the heavier hitters are getting sentenced, now. this should scare everyone who has NOT been sentenced yet shitless.

The federal election interference trial has been set for March 4, 2024, while the Manhattan trial is expected to start March 25, 2024. The classified documents trial has been scheduled to begin May 20, 2024. Willis has indicated that she wants a trial to begin on October 23 of this year, but it is unclear if the judge will grant her request. Asked if he would testify at those trials, Trump told Hewitt, "Oh, yes, absolutely," adding that "I look forward to testifying. At trial, I'll testify."www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-preparing-for-a-risky-move-at-his-own-trials/ar-AA1glj8S?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=9f12255ace3b41e7b4e2712ad79c8bc3&ei=89Here's a laugh to start your day!

was reading more closely into the sentencing......Tarrio pleaded for mercy - said don't take my 40's away from me....looks the 50's could go downt he crapper too. What are the options for early release? And how likely are these numnuts to get out early on good behavior, or the like?

this is why i think Trump will lose. it is the GLACIAL erosion of support. it can barely be noticed, unless you are reading page 3 and 4 of the polls. but it is there.

I watched the newly-public security camera footage from January 6. I saw things I hadn't seen before — including eerie scenes of lawmakers fleeing for their safety on one of the darkest days in American history.*House Republicans have begun to make January 6 security camera footage publicly available. *I signed up for a 3-hour appointment, where I watched the footage in an obscure conference room. *I watched as lawmakers fled for safety — and banded together — while rioters besieged the Capitol. More than two-and-a-half years after the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, House Republicans have begun to make security camera footage from the days surrounding the riot more widely available. There's been plenty of controversy — and distortions of the events of that day — in the meantime. When Democrats controlled the House, they resisted releasing the entirety of the footage, arguing that doing so would be compromising to the security of the US Capitol complex. Even so, certain clips have made their way into documentaries about that day and played a prominent role in the public hearings staged by the January 6 committee last year. When Republicans retook the chamber, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy granted then-Fox News host Tucker Carlson exclusive access to the footage — resulting in the broadcast of a distorted narrative of the day's events that angered even fellow Republicans. But now, the Committee on House Administration has opened up access to the footage more broadly, allowing reporters, certain non-profit groups, January 6 defendants, and those who were injured during the riot to view the footage. I decided to take them up on it. Here's how it went, and what I saw. Rest of article here: I watched the newly-public security camera footage from January 6. I saw things I hadn't seen before — including eerie scenes of lawmakers fleeing for their safety on one of the darkest days in American history.

And another one: InfoWars host sentenced to 60 days in Capitol riot caseOwen Shroyer, a right-wing conspiracy theorist and InfoWars host, was sentenced to 60 days in jail on Tuesday for his involvement in the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.
Shroyer pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of entering and remaining on restricted grounds in June 2023. He did not enter the Capitol building itself. At least he knew he shouldn't enter the building.

The GOP knew. www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2023/11/mitt-romney-retiring-senate-trump-mcconnell/675306/“Romney sends his text: “In case you have not heard this, I just got a call from Angus King, who said that he had spoken with a senior official at the Pentagon who reports that they are seeing very disturbing social media traffic regarding the protests planned on the 6th. There are calls to burn down your home, Mitch; to smuggle guns into DC, and to storm the Capitol. I hope that sufficient security plans are in place, but I am concerned that the instigator—the President—is the one who commands the reinforcements the DC and Capitol police might require.” McConnell never responds.“ From Romney’s new book.
