I doubt it. That isn't a decision that can just be made and executed. That is a big deal. but we've had plenty of people in charge in America look the other way for trump. He didn't do any of the stuff he's done alone. He's had help from his administration the people he appointed. the only reason trump has any sort of power as president is because people under his command will obey him (for what ever reasons they have). To the best of my knowledge if enough people would say "no" they certainly could have blocked some of this. This is a BIG F@CKING DEAL!! Leave the code with a mentally unstable person or change it?? No brainer!

Lin Wood on Parler saying get the firing squad ready, that Pence goes first. If any of us said such a thing we'd already be on the inside looking out through bars. He really needs to be imprisoned, even if its a 24 hour or whatever day hold they can manage. I'm not a Pence fan, but he does not deserve being the target of unhinged delusional people with guns.

From the New York Times: OPINION Trump Is to Blame for Capitol AttackThe president incited his followers to violence. There must be consequences. President Trump and his Republican enablers in Congress incited a violent attack Wednesday against the government they lead and the nation they profess to love. This cannot be allowed to stand. Mr. Trump’s seditious rhetoric prompted a mob of thousands of people to storm the U.S. Capitol building, some breaking onto the House and Senate floors, where the nation’s elected representatives had gathered to perform their constitutional duty of counting electoral votes and confirming the election of Joe Biden as president. It is fitting that some carried the Confederate flag as they attacked the seat of American government and forced the suspension of congressional debate. They shattered windows and broke doors, clashing with overwhelmed security forces as they shouted their support for Mr. Trump and their defiance of the lawful results of the 2020 election. One woman was killed. The nation’s leaders were sent scurrying for shelter. Explosives were found in the Capitol and multiple locations around Washington. Pro-Trump protests also shut down statehouses around the country. Mr. Trump sparked these assaults. He has railed for months against the verdict rendered by voters in November. He summoned his supporters to gather in Washington on this day, and encouraged them to march on the Capitol. He told them that the election was being stolen. He told them to fight. He told them he might join them and, even as they stormed the building, he declined for long hours to tell them to stop, to condemn their actions, to raise a finger in defense of the Constitution that he swore to preserve and protect. When he finally spoke, late in the day, he affirmed the protesters’ anger, telling them again that the election was stolen, but asking them to go home anyway. It was the performance of a man unwilling to fulfill his duties as president or to confront the consequences of his own behavior. The president needs to be held accountable — through impeachment proceedings or criminal prosecution — and the same goes for his supporters who carried out the violence. In time, there should be an investigation of the failure of the Capitol Police to prepare for an attack that was announced and planned in public. Mr. Trump sparked these assaults. Well yeah it's different when it is your lily white ass that might get shot instead of all those brown/gay/female liberals. It has nothing to do with them being courgeous or heroes or whatever is the news wants to call these people. It all has to do with cowardice. They were willing to follow Trump right up until it was expected they might have to die for him. If this hadn't happened not a single one of them would be doing what they are doing right now. F*ck all of them. Explain this to your future grandchildren when they read about it in history books. Defend the choices you made.

While this was happening Trump was ‘unresponsive’ to his staff because he was so pissed at Pence he couldn’t see straight. The one person who apparently can usually get through to him, Jared, was flying home from the Middle East, This sounds exactly like what the 25th amendment was supposed to protect us from. Think about this - what if he decides declaring martial law is the only way to stay in office, and decides to nuke Iran? They need to pick him up and shut him safely away for the next month at least.

If they really did threaten him with the 25th, I suspect there are enough people ready to do it when that "one more thing" happens. If he tries to declare martial law, he will be immediately removed. Too many people have walked away from him now.
Now I kinda want it to happen. That would be a suitable ending to this shit show.

And sure, a lot of people have broken rules FOR Trump, but who is going to break such a giant rule AGAINST the sitting President. This isn't changing someone's lunch order or rescheduling a trip. I hear that when Nixon quit the transition of the nuclear codes was a big problem. It is required they are right next to the President, but the outgoing and incoming President weren't in the same place. I think invoking the 25th would be easier and more successful than trying to just remove the football.

I'm surprised his anger hasn't given him a heart attack yet.

Pence refused to violate his oath to uphold the constitution, and it’s incomprehensible to Trump, who is amoral. I have to think Pence had his lunch with Trump the other day where Trump instructed him to overthrow the election, and pence thought ‘fuck this shit’ (or the PG alternative) because he’s gone AWOL ever since. For instance, Trump didn’t want to send in the national guard, Pence overrode him and sent them in. He’s done with Trump I think.

Some dude from Oklahoma that was in the same safe room as Pence told NBC that he's known Pence for years and never seen him that mad and hear him be pissed that trump did this after all pence has done for trump.

In which case Pence is an even bigger fucking idiot than I already thought he was. Trump has loyalty to one person - himself. The SECOND you don't agree with him, and aren't willing to fall on the sword for him, you are of no use. How many times have we all seen that play out over the last four years?

I think some people get caught up in the adrenaline and drama rush that is life close to Trump. They stop really thinking except for pleasing Trump. Maybe some day Pence will write a book, but for now he's been very good at hiding his thoughts and great at parroting DT talking points.

I don't get why he was pissed at Pence for a situation he himself set up. I think he's just angry that his bullying tactics aren't fully working as expected. I'm surprised his anger hasn't given him a heart attack yet. I think he's pissed because all of his attempts at overthrowing the election (and the government) - his attempted coup has been thwarted by people said 'no' to him. Pence was just the most recent to not go along with his attempt to overthrow the government. I guess Pence could have refused to count the electoral votes. Not sure what would have happened at that point.. maybe someone else would have stepped in and finished the "ritual" of the count. It wouldn't have changed Biden/Harris being sworn in on Jan 20th. trump has an "army" of sorts - they are armed and ready to go. Perhaps if Pence had objected - but nothing changed - it would lend even more credibility to fringe groups and the 'army' would get bigger. who knows. TBH: All trump needed was for enough politicians to go along with MORE than just lip service to his "voter fraud" accusations. If any of them had produced "evidence" - possibly manufactured by underlings who had pressure applied to go along to get along - we'd be a very different world right now. All trump needs is for the military to take his side. trump's got 70 million Americans who wanted him to be president. Theoretically, nearly half the US would sit back and let trump overturn the election and the constitution. That's why I see this as treason - trump has been asking people to do things to overthrow our government. He set the stage with all his cries of voter fraud well before the election (it's a lot easier to willingly go along with a lie if lots of people have already heard it and are receptive to it...) trump is pissed because he worked so hard and so long to set the stage for coup and then enough people didn't go along with it. I'm guessing the political parties have taken note of which positions of lower order power need to be in one's pocket to actually make a coup attempt like this work in the future.

There is a secret service agent that is within a certain number of yards of him when he is away from the white house. He carries a briefcase that has a bunch of stuff in it, including the codes. It is called the nuclear football, and you can Google it to find out all about it.
