Husband better watch out because I think I may leave my wife for him!
Damn, Mayor Pete has been killing it on the news channels lately and every word is so well crafted and the delivery wrapped in such a fashion that you cannot help but be impressed!
Carl Buttigieg has a nice ring to it doesn’t it? Too bad the rumor has if he could not connect with black people!

I just listened to Chasten's autobiography and think they are doing ok so you might be out of luck I think there are some unanswered issues about race and police in South Bend that had people questioning him. I love him, but agree he needs to address the question.

He’s going to land a nice cabinet job, if the election goes right, IMHO.
He had a good future, if he had good follow through.

Now I don't know whether this is true ( TheHaitian maybe you can comment) but I have read that part of his problem connecting with African Americans comes from greater resistance to acceptance of homosexuality in that community? If that is true there is not much he can do about that.

If that is true there is not much he can do about that. Yes. Today, all seven of the historically African American Protestant denominations--the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, the African Methodist Episcopal Zion (AMEZ) Church, the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church, the National Baptist Convention, USA, Incorporated (NBC), the National Baptist Convention of America, Unincorporated (NBCA), the Progressive National Baptist Convention (PNBC), and the Church of God in Christ (COGIC)--still view homosexuality as "an abomination" and do not see it as an acceptable "lifestyle. go.gale.com/ps/anonymous?id=GALE%7CA182047170&sid=googleScholar&v=2.1&it=r&linkaccess=abs&issn=15481867&p=AONE&sw=wI worked with a lot of black people, from the Caribbean and Africa. their views on homosexuality were archaic at best. However, their views didn't hold a candle to the views of people from the Middle East.

I've enjoyed his presence this round. I hope he stays in national politics. Carl, try and let your wife down easy.

I saw him on a talk show early in the process and really liked how intelligently he spoke. I really hoped he would remain in the race before the Democratic primary in WA, but he dropped out by then. We need more politicians like this.

He's got a husband and kids. Back off you home-wrecking hussy!
This is the sour commentary of a similarly crushed-out person with a considerably worse shot than yourself. Yeah, I'm impressed with the guy too.

I would've preferred Mayor Pete over Joe.
Only problem is that unfortunately, I don't think a gay man is electable as POTUS at this moment in history.
Too many homophobes, bigots, and religious kooks who'd never allow that to happen.

Not necessarily. For example, the Muslim population may vote against a gay candidate purely on religious beliefs.

Not necessarily. For example, the Muslim population may vote against a gay candidate purely on religious beliefs. So you consider American Muslims to be “religious kooks”? Ugh... You said those I referred to as religious kooks already vote R. I said not necessarily. American Muslims (as in, not religious kooks but who tend to lean left & D) may vote against a gay candidate purely on religious beliefs. It was an example of how not everyone who is anti-gay already votes R.

I saw a clip last night where someone was asking him if he’s ready to talk family values given his marriage and he was like, know what my marriage has never resulted in? Paying a porn star for sex... so yeah, let’s talk family values.

Too many homophobes, bigots, and religious kooks who'd never allow that to happen. I was reading an article and it was talking about how they think the problem isn't that people wouldn't vote for a gay president (afterall look at how the polls have changed regarding support of gay marriage etc) is that too many people THINK he can't win because he's gay and then don't vote even though they have no problem with it. A self fulfilling prophecy in part thanks to our winner take all voting system.

OT, but Pete and Chasten don't have kids yet. I'll be interested to see where Pete lands in the next administration, if Biden wins.

I think a lot of the issues for him are his lack of experience. Mayor of a mid size town, and I believe was for a short period of time, were not enough. Would be much better with state level leadership, or national positions.
And I think what would help with the issue of his sexual orientation is to continue to take leadership on issues other than LGBTQ, so he will eventually become seen as a candidate who happens to be gay, rather than a gay candidate.

That’s not ‘leaning left & ’ in my purview. *sigh* I just said "not religious kooks". American Muslims (who are not religious kooks) tend to lean left and Dem. Islam is pretty strict on how it views homosexuality. Thus, when faced with a gay Dem candidate, American Muslims may very well determine that they cannot in good faith vote for that candidate for religious reasons. I think you know very well what I'm saying. Any further misinterpretation on your part is pure gaslighting. Are you wanting someone to attack so bad now the standard MAGATs are on the down low that you'll go after anyone? If so, I suggest you sign up for Twitter. There's a never-ending supply of them there.
