I just listened to Chasten's autobiography and think they are doing ok so you might be out of luck  


I think there are some unanswered issues about race and police in South Bend that had people questioning him.  I love him, but agree he needs to address the question.

Now I don't know whether this is true (TheHaitian maybe you can comment) but I have read that part of his problem connecting with African Americans comes from greater resistance to acceptance of homosexuality in that community? If that is true there is not much he can do about that.

I worked with a lot of black people, from the Caribbean and Africa. their views on homosexuality were archaic at best.
However, their views didn't hold a candle to the views of people from the Middle East.

I saw him on a talk show early in the process and really liked how intelligently he spoke.  I really hoped he would remain in the race before the Democratic primary in WA, but he dropped out by then.

I was reading an article and it was talking about how they think the problem isn't that people wouldn't vote for a gay president (afterall look at how the polls have changed regarding support of gay marriage etc) is that too many people THINK he can't win because he's gay and then don't vote even though they have no problem with it.

A self fulfilling prophecy in part thanks to our winner take all voting system.

I'll be interested to see where Pete lands in the next administration, if Biden wins.

I think a lot of the issues for him are his lack of experience. Mayor of a mid size town, and I believe was for a short period of time, were not enough. Would be much better with state level leadership, or national positions.

And I think what would help with the issue of his sexual orientation is to continue to take leadership on issues other than LGBTQ, so he will eventually become seen as a candidate who happens to be gay, rather than a gay candidate.

I just said "not religious kooks".  

American Muslims (who are not religious kooks) tend to lean left and Dem.  Islam is pretty strict on how it views homosexuality.  Thus, when faced with a gay Dem candidate, American Muslims may very well determine that they cannot in good faith vote for that candidate for religious reasons.
