Guess I value my time more or else don’t want the inconvenience Also Black Thursday sales lines are (to me) weird But early voting was specifically designed to eliminate long lonrs People are eager for change and want to get their vote in. I will wait a week or so after early voting begins in my state. Will also vote in the middle of the week during early afternoon. Hopefully the lines will be short.

I guess they really want COVID that bad? I swear, if you had told me 3 years ago that people would be willing to die for Trump, I would have told you that you were a flaming idiot. But, here we are. Cults are what they are, I guess. If anyone ever wondered how 6 million Jews died in the Holocaust - this is how it starts.

Glad that our service men and women stationed around the world will have an increased chance that their votes will count.

So more problems in NJ. Local north jersey paper reports that multiple people have received 2 mail in ballots. Due to registering with SS # then registering at motor vehicle where license # used, or when name us changed,e.g., maiden to married Plus ballots sent to former residents Election official was quoted, we can’t fix this because there are 2 separate systems (can’t link) What a complete mess this year’s election will be for president, senator, congress and local. It’s making many people angry because we didn’t have a voice in the decision to only have mail in ballots and most feel going to polls won’t be worse than going to grocery store.
I’ve received only blah, blah, blah form letters when I’ve contacted governor, senators, election board, etc

Just sent in my application for absentee ballot today. I'm glad to have the option. I was going to vote in person, but cases are rising more in my county, and I didn't want to be stuck in a long social distancing line under these circumstances.

Yes, extended times for their ballots to arrive back after Election Day. With more mailed ballots this year, it can take longer for the ballots to be mailed out to them. It can take an extended time to get ballots to them and thus they can't necessarily get them back into the mail early. Plus they can take longer from far flung locations to get back to the counting centers.

Get ones that are for former residents, return them indicating that.

My mother is one of those people. She's been doing delivery this entire time vs. risking death. She shouldn't be able to vote or should be forced to put her life at risk? I lived in CA all my life and for the last 20 years voted by mail as an absentee voter. Most rural living people do since the weather is bad in Nov and the poling place can be an hour's drive away. This entire conversation is stupid. There is ZERO main-in ballot fraud, except anywhere in Trump's head and the Faux News propaganda.

A ditch equals a river. So a gully must equal an ocean in trump Bizarro World. Got it. Not to mention the actual fact that there were no ballots found in the lost mail in the ditch. Those were a figment of Trump's narcissistic brain. Mail does get lost. We once had a bag of it get misplaced in a mail hub and the entire town's mail was 3 weeks or so delayed. I've never heard of it landing in a ditch though... It's not like it's onions in an open truck rolling off at the corners...

Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Arizona all have had no excuse mail in voting for years. They won't be doing this for the first time, so they won't have that "new process" risk.

AZ has been 75-80% mail-in, so not an insignificant number of ballots. We are a state that counts ballots as they arrive (after they get verified). And we are going to have 3 weeks of early voting. There is a real possibility we will have real counts the night of Nov 3.

And then there is the truth as to what they were told: The Bergen County Board of Elections knows which voters received the wrong ballots, according to Hogan. If a voter already sent in an incorrect ballot and then sends in a corrected one, only the corrected one will be counted, he said. If a voter sent in an incorrect ballot and never sends in a corrected one, the county will not count the congressional race vote on the incorrect ballot, he added. link

As far as the USPS goes, Monday we had a substitute for our regular carrier and I got the mail for my nextdoor neighbor on one side, which I put in his mailbox. Today, my nextdoor neighbor on the other side brought my mail which was delivered to HIS house on Monday, including our bank statement and important insurance documents. The carrier stuffs one bundle of mail in every box, regardless of the name/address on it. I have TWO address markers, 5-6 inches high. But when you are on the phone and not looking, it doesn't matter if they are 12 inches high.
Do I expect anything better from my local P.O. during election time? Nope!
We will try to utilize the numerous drive-thru sites, surrendering our unopened mail-in ballots at that time. If that fails, we are committed to voting in person indoors, although masks are not required here and I'm sure many will not wear them. Our choice, of course.

Other states aren't necessarily having any problems. Mail in ballots in NJ are new, we aren't say Washington state. Plus in our state, most of the ballots are done by county. Our population is pretty mobile, so we are going to have more issues than less populous states and states where people move much less often. Every time you move into a new county here you need to make sure you are registered to vote in the new county. I've never registered to vote through the DMV. When I renew my license or registration the NJ MV requires both my SS# and driver's license #. Makes me curious as to why that wouldn't be the case for registering to vote as well. The important thing really is to vote only once whether you get two ballots or not. If you vote twice you risk facing charges, paying fines, and having your vote not count at all. I disagree with jersey girl on the mail in ballot decision. Since the future of Covid could not be accurately predicted for NJ in November I think it was wise to send out mail ballots to everyone. Does not take away the option to literally show up at the polling place and dropping off that envelope or voting provisionally. Giving choices to every one and tracking that sounds like too much overhead given people were doing things during the outbreak to plan, so I'm OK with it. I will walk in my ballot prior to election day, hopefully much sooner than I did for the primary.

Unofficial ballot drop boxes popping up throughout the state worry elections officialsPromoting such boxes — which have been found in Los Angeles, Orange and Fresno counties — could be a felony. In a photo posted to social media last week, a young man wearing a mask with Orange County congressional candidate Michelle Steel’s name on it is holding a mail ballot and giving a thumbs up next to a box about the size of a file cabinet labeled “Official ballot drop off box.” The post, from Jordan Tygh, a regional field director for the California Republican Party, encouraged people to message him for “convenient locations” to drop their own ballots. The problem is the drop box in the photo is not official – and it could be against the law. The California Secretary of State has received reports in recent days about possible unauthorized ballot drop boxes in Fresno, Los Angeles and Orange counties, agency spokesman Sam Mahood said Sunday evening. Reports place such boxes at local political party offices, candidate headquarters and churches. Unofficial ballot drop boxes popping up throughout California worry elections officials

Technicality, but PA has had absentee voting for years (excuse needed) and no-excuse mail-in voting was only approved last year. Who could have predicted the first year of no-excuses mail voting would happen during a pandemic?!?! Lol. I dropped off my ballot this past Saturday, my husband decided he will vote in person (and never applied for a mail ballot). I'm happy we finally have the choice in Pennsylvania.

Add Colorado to the states for all mail ballots. I was shocked when I move here that Iowa didn't have it.
