One of my favorite comic series ever. They did a good job with it on tv. They also did a pretty good job with Watchmen.

We tried a few series, and landed on Haven. It's a little dumb, but holding our attention so there's something to it. Sort of reminds me of x-files.

I just finished with 11 seasons of "Heartland", which takes place on a ranch in British Columbia. Extended family, the main character (Amy) has a gift for working with troubled horses. I'd also classify it as "family". I was a child of the 70s and my values are pretty liberal but when I watched Grey's Anatomy I swear that every possible combination of 2 people (well, maybe not ALL the same-sex combinations!) ended up coupled in the on-call room with the door locked. It got old after awhile. In Heartland, people fall in love, break up, get married, etc. but there's no heavy breathing. I also enjoyed "Never have I ever", about a HS girl of Indian extraction living in the US with her widowed mother and trying to balance family traditions and expectations with life in a HS in California. Just started "Offspring" about an Australian OB-Gyn with a colorful extended family. I don't miss cable at all!

Don't get me wrong, I thought breaking bad was great. I loved the first season. After realizing I hated every character in it in the second season, I realized I didn't want to continue watching it. I watch TV for entertainment, and an escape. That was not it for me. I never really got into the office, but the afterlife show started getting an office-like vibe. It was sad, but sort of a comedy. I did learn some new British slang, so that was cool. I fell in love with Jesse! When my daughter was telling me about the show, to get me to watch, I was no way watching a show about junkies. Who knew I'd fall in love. Lol Jesse? The Disney one where the parents abandonrd half a dozen horribke bratty kids with a young "nanny" that was kinda a wreck? I think it is the only show I forbid my daughter from watching.

Lol, no. Jesse was the main character in Breaking Bad! Ah. I thought you hopped to a different show. I was wondering how any adult could feel passionately enthused with that drivel that Disney did.

I stopped watching Grey's Anatomy after 2 seasons. I got SO tired of Meredith. She was way too whiny for my taste, and I agree, everyone sleeping around with one another got a bit ridiculous.

You might like Sweet Magnolias and Virgin River on Netflix. Watched all available episodes of both- thanks! I also enjoyed "Dead to Me". I asked my sister, who's a doctor, if they really bicker over their dysfunctional personal relationships while some poor patient is lying on the operating table with his or her thoracic cavity open and was relieved to be told no.

My boys liked the first karate kid movie. We just finished the second half tonight. I like to find movies like this that I can share with them from when I was a kid, especially when they can see the origin of things like, "wax on/wax off". It's weird to go back and see these movies after all these years. Writing/production styles are so different these days. Have you watched Cobra Kai yet? I started it a couple of days ago and really enjoy it.

Disney plus family friendly - pick of the litter - about how they train guide dogs for the blind - unlikely animal friends - animals like owls and cats who are best friends - Jane Goodall - any of their nature series have been good except Hostile planet which was kinda dark which makes sense given the title - onward - artemis fowl
Watching Grey's Anatomy for the first time. Like it and it's keeping me entertained but as I hit season 11, I find myself laughing as they stretch for tragic plot lines. It's 16 seasons of 20-24 episodes each and not kid friendly given all the on-call room scenes mentioned earlier, so it's a night time commitment.
West Wing is likely next.
DH and I watched Alone and the last Alaskans but had to stop because the isolation was bumming us out.
Not sure if you can find it but Madame Secretary.

I know this thread is about Netflix shows but if anyone can watch Amazon Prime movies on TV, may I recommend The Vast of Night. Pretty good flick.

I stopped after a couple of seasons because I just can’t with Frank. He was pissing me off. And for some reason when, I don’t remember his name..... the red head boy that’s gay..... ran off with that baby, when he had that meltdown, for some reason it upset my nerves so much I had tears in my eyes. I still don’t know why it touched me like that. But that was when I stopped watching, although I’ve seen pieces of episodes since then because DBF was watching it.

Found a show on Amazon this weekend - the Goes Wrong Show.
It's a BBC comedy about local college drama department that does plays that get televised on BBC. Since they are amateur productions, the actors are bad, the stage hands mess up, and the props are very cheap. My favorite episode is the Tennessee drama called 90 Degrees (supposedly the temperature in Tennessee, but the stage hands misinterpreted the directions and made some of the stage sets at 90 degree angles. If you like slapstick and dry British humor, you'll like it. (Some parts are on Youtube).
Oh and the Christmas episode is good - Santa gets drunk and one of the elves gets stuck in the chimney.

I know it happens, but very rarely like this.

One of the characters in the series was played by Zelda Rubinstein. Zelda was the medium in the movie Poltergeist. If you recall Zelda, she was an extremely short person. In the series, the character Zelda played went missing. She was eventually found in a chest freezer in her home, frozen solid. She had fallen in. Zelda was picked out of the freezer by one of the police officers. While holding Zelda vertically with her frozen head above the officer's head, the officer accidentally bumped her head against a ceiling beam and knocked her frozen head off her body.

I've been watching Raised By Wolves. It's excellent. www.cnn.com/2020/09/03/entertainment/raised-by-wolves-review/index.html"Raised by Wolves" might be the year's most original series, an audaciously cerebral science-fiction concept that covers so much ground in the premiere it's hard to imagine where the show can ultimately go. Produced by "Blade Runner" and "Alien's" Ridley Scott -- who also directed the first two episodes -- it's uneven in places, but by virtue of its risk-taking joins the alpha tier of the streaming pack. Created by Aaron Guzikowski ("The Red Road"), the premise defies a simple description. But it's hard to escape the sobering real-world echoes of humans being forced to establish colonies beyond Earth, having ruined the planet not because of climate change as much as unfettered tribalism, and war between believers and atheists.

I remember liking Picket Fences! I remember nothing about the show except that I liked it. Maybe I'll see if I can find it one of these days. The sweetie and I have such drastically divergent tastes in TV (anything he puts on makes me literally filled with anger, and anything I put on makes him complain-y) that the only things we can manage to watch together appears to be House Hunters Caribbean version and Elementary. So that's all I've got going on. And the nightly news with David Muir. Not winning any pop culture trivia over here, for sure!
