Good Morning! I'm 146.2 this morning. Did not reach my goal of 145, but did go down 4/10 of a lb. Easter weekend was full of desserts, candy, and soda. Trying to be good this week, but there are leftover strawberry muffins and coconut cream pie in my house. I have a mini vacation, this Thurs thru Sun off of work. I'll probably be moving a lot more, but also eating snack foods. I wish the weather would get better, I hate being stuck inside.

beth- as long as you are not just swinging the littlest bell you can find- yes it counts- some of those bells are HUGE!
I am stuck. But the doctor's scale says I weigh 2 pounds less than the one at home!
Tomorrow will tell.
I can't wait until this reno is done. I have to wear this stinkin ankle brace again until we are done because the doctor found out (because DM told her) that I was climbing on stuff. She is afraid I will re-break my ankle. She said if I break it a 4th time at this weight (I have broke it once at my normal weight and twice since putting on weight) they may not have a choice but to "surgically reinforce" it. That means rods and pins to keep me from breaking it again. Yuck.

Beth: Standing uses more muscles than sitting so just by standing for long periods of time you are better off than sitting! A trick my first trainer taught me is that whenever you are standing if you alternate standing on one foot with knee slightly bent it uses almost every muscle in your leg. It tones the muscles in your legs, helps you with balance and stabilization AND helps you get in a little workout wherever you are. So try doing that while you are ringing the bells!! I do this whenever I am in line at the bank, or grocery store or talking on the phone. You don't have to raise your "off" foot really high and draw attention either...just lift that foot enough to put the weight on one leg and hold it for a minute (or as long as you can and build it up from there) at a time and then switch. Trainer kicked my butt tonight but I made it the whole hour. Tomorrow's spinning class is in jeopardy...we will see how sore I am from today. Workout with the trainer again AND weigh in on Thursday!! Great googily moogliy!

Weigh in this morning was 161ish. I really need to make the investment for a digital scale as I hate not being able to get an accurate number with the one I have. Anyone have any suggestions for an inexpensive but reliable one? I really don't want to spend more than $30. Did not have much progress this week but I blame all the Easter goodies (I just couldn't help myself) that and I have been sick since Saturday so it has been very difficult to eat healthy. Trying to get back on track today. Hopefully the nice weather holds out and I can go for a quick walk/jog when I get home since DH and DS will not be home until late.

Yep, I have one of the Weight Watchers digital scales, the most basic model. I bought it at Target. LOVE IT! I've had it probably close to 10 years now and have had NO problems with it. I think I've had to replace the battery once! Not sure what they sell for now, but I know it wasn't very expensive.

I weighed in at 154.2. Slightly up. I'm hoping that now that the holiday is over and everyones back on a schedule I can watch what I eat a little more. Should have a little more time to workout now too. Feeling a little discouraged, but still very determined to drop some pounds, look better, and feel better. Good job to the losers.

Thanks ladies. I mainly play the medium sized (middle octave/register) bells but we're practicing for a concert and I got stuck with the middle and lower octaves so it's bigger bells. I'll try to remember the standing thing HC. I don't have the world's best sense of balance so if I do that while playing the bells I'll have to be very careful not to take out the entire handbell choir!
DH picked up a scale at Target a few months ago. I think the brand is Taylor. It's just your basic digital scale. I don't think he paid more than $20 for it. We'll see how long it lasts though!
I'm at 185 this morning. Down 1 lb. Yay! And we're almost out of sweets from Easter so the temptation won't be there much longer. ;D I did up my speed and duration on the treadmill this morning. 25 minutes/1.25 miles. It's progress.
Good luck on the brace mizbear. Better to be safer than sorry in this case.

I've got good news and some eh news... I was weighing myself in the morning and according to that i am down to 208ish It's hard to see the little lines!! BUT I decided to join weight watchers and last night was my first meeting. I weighed in there and I'm at 213.8. I am going to go by the weight watchers number from now on. The meeting was not what I expected and the "leader" didn't do a very good job telling me what I needed to do except that I needed to buy a calculator to figure out my points. I thought it was all about weight loss, not making money!! OH well I'm going to try it and see what happens. I'm going to check craigslist or online for a cheap calculator. Anyone know of a good place?

My official weigh ins are Thursdays after personal training. I couldn't help myself today and jumped on the scale before my shower and I was UP 2.6 lbs. I am SO disappointed. I admit I haven't been perfect with my eating habits this week...and a few Easter candies made their way to my study desk...but I thought I was at least maintaining. I will do better today and tomorrow and see what this week's official number is. I really REALLY want to be at 189 or less but the 180's elude me!!! Beth: You can practice the standing trick anywhere, anytime.

mom2- I agree with saveinla- Go with an inexpensive dollar type calculator that fits in your purse so you can tally your points at your meals. I also believe there is a WW app for eating out if you have one of those type of phones. I went up to 192.6 this weigh in, but I ate out yesterday with my mother and we had to eat where she could eat after having dental surgery- I couldn't find anything on the menu there that wasn't fried! I know my weight will go back down in a couple days. Scales- I have a taylor that was bought years ago when they first started putting the fancy water/fat scales out and it was $50 then- the same scale is like $30 now. We just replaced my DGMs 25 yr old (yes it really was) digital with a large number digital that cost $25 I think. I believe it is a WW. I like both of them. Blenders- my blender right now is a black and decker and it does have the glass carafe. It is a newer model- maybe 5 years old tops. We bought it when I killed my grandmother's old Oster. Someone mentioned Vita-Mix- - If only money grew on trees.... I am a kitchen supply junkie. When putting batteries in your scales, do you use regular or LiIon or NiCad? A lady at the groery store told me that LiIon batterie last longer in the scale, but my uncle said that with a scale it eats te batteries because it is holding memory and constantly off and on.

I have never heard of these calculators before. Anyway I checked Amazon and it looks like there are new ones from 40$ on. Maybe they will be lower or free on CL? There are a ton of online calculators, but unless you have a web enabled phone, you will not be able to use those all the time.

I am 5'2 and 125lb which would be fine, except I gained 5 lbs since buying my wedding dress and the wedding is in 2 weeks and two days. So I am going to cut my food, change the kind of foods I eat (no more chocolate, cut the sodas) and start working out. I did a little but of weights yesterday and 15 minutes of walking. I walked a half hour twice yesterday as well.

Weigh in today is 176-ish. Disappointed to gain a pound, but with Easter I'm not surprised. Happy though otherwise. I actually went for a walk this weekend and my physical therapy is really helping my back pain so I think I will be seeing more activity in the near future since I'll have less pain to deal with! Thanks for all the recommendations for scales! Thanks for asking poohbiscit! I went to Bed Bath and Beyond the other day and was just overwhelmed. The last time I bought a digital scale if you stood on it 3 times in a row within 5 minutes you'd get 3 different numbers! I'll have to check into some of the brands you ladies recommended so I don't end up with the same problem next time.

So I hopped on the scale again this afternoon before getting in the shower, and I was at 153.8, down .4 from this morning. I have noticed morning/evening fluctuations before too. Is there a "best" time of day to weigh yourself?
I have a Home Best scale. I got it at Sears, I think it was $19 on sale. Been good so far.
Anyone interested in a Loser smiley list? If so, I can put one together.
It is snowing up here, again, all day. It beats the tornadoes down south. Keeping our friends down there in my thoughts and prayers.

WW calculators proper are not normal calculators because you put in he fat, calories, protein, etc and they give you the points value, however, for meals where you know the points value, a basic calculator will work. When my grandmother did WW, she carried a cheat sheet of her favorite foods or wrote down her packed lunch points. She knew what she could eat at most places to make it easy on herself.

My weight is 163.8 -- still the same. I was at first a little bummed that it hadn't gone down, but I did measure myself and I am shrinking a little, even though the scale doesn't reflect it.
Still want to get to 163.6 asap -- that'll put me into the BMI "overweight" category instead of the BMI "obese" one. I know it's just a number, but for some reason it seems like such a milestone to me.

I try to weigh myself in morning, after I've peed and before I eat/drink anything or put my shoes on. I know better than to weigh myself daily but I did it anyway and this morning I was back up to 186.5. It's probably the pizza I had for dinner shortly before bedtime last night... I really hate Wednesdays right now. A typical one is this: I get up at 5:40, exercise, shower, dress, deal with the kids, drop them off at dcp, go to work, go to handbell practice, pick up kids (my Dad watches them during bell practice), get home around 7pm, put DD to bed (DH does DS) and finally get to eat dinner around 8pm, then crash around 9pm. I should be done with bells after the concert on 5/20, until Sept, which will make things easier.

Good thing I keep exercise equipment in the apt.
Not a happy Bear- part of my weight gain may be hormonal- it's time for my shot and now the insurance doesn't want to pay until it's just about too lat for the blasted thing!

I'm down 0.8 this week! I'm at 191.0. I have a wedding this weekend, but I'm going to take it easy on the adult beverages and avoid the cake. We're also going to do some sightseeing (the wedding is in New Jersey), so I plan to get in lots of walking.

Anyone know of a good place? Mom2-4 Monkeys: Have you tried Weight Watchers online? I only do online, and it's $17.95 a month. I really don't know if you can access the site while you're paying for meetings. You can calculate points there, and track. There are a ton of recipes, a "guidance" articles, for lack of a better term. Also, like other posters have mentioned, if you have an Iphone or Android phone, there are WW calculator apps for free. You can even access the website from your phone. I hope that helps! And I hope you all don't mind that I kind of butted-in. I've been following this thread for tips and inspiration, but I don't have much to post.

I did WW online a few yrs ago and loved it! It really helps you stay on track with all of the different areas to keep tabs on such as: food intake, water intake, and exercise. It does all the math for you. I'd be doing it again if I hadn't decided to pay for the gym membership, I can't afford both. I weigh tonight...wish me luck. In my defense (apparently I think I need one), I am a bit bloated from PMS. BUT.....I had NO moodiness, irritability, crankiness, feelings of total poundage gain to where I had to wear my yuck pants, no sore muscles or cramps. Exercise!!!!! It could just be the answer! All of the above have been haunting me once a month for years...who knew?

I always used my shampoo to wash the rest of my body while in the shower. It was just easier to lather up my hair and use the extra suds on my body instead of soap. Then I saw the words printed on my shampoo bottle “for extra volume and fullness”. No wonder I can’t lose weight! Now I’m using my dishsoap in the shower. It’s guaranteed to remove fat and other unwanted deposits that other soaps leave behind! Saw this on another forum. Thought you guys would enjoy it as well.

After my training session on Tuesday, I was too sore to go to spinning on Wednesday AND I didn't make training tonight. I don't think a cat can die from muscle pain but I'm not 100% sure right now. I know its a process that I have to work through but great googily moogily... . Since I didn't have training I didn't do my official weigh in either. Next week I have to work on eating better foods (constant battle) and drinking MORE water. I am going to attempt the 5:30 spinning class tomorrow and try to work through some of the pain.

My thighs started cramping when I was on the treadmill this morning. I slowed down but still managed to do 1 mile. I'm going to work on getting more water in me. I think that was part of the problem (lack of sleep may have had something to do with this too)

Weighed myself at the gym last night (their scales put me heavier than mine at home). I am down about 4 pounds in 2 weeks. My weight fluctuates a lot, so I don't get excited until the ten pound mark is hit consistantly.
Will have to have a talk with my trainer. We did a lot of squats and lunges on Monday. I was so sore in my butt and thighs that I could barely walk for over two days. Stretching did not help. Did not get back to the gym until last night. I know I need them, but not so much that I can't do anything for days afterward.
