I'm trying to take pleasure in the little things, and not freak out. I sat on the balcony and watched thousands of Canada geese coming home, in exquisite formations. Did you know that they take turns being in the lead position so others can rest in the back of the line? I take pleasure in the fact that the calla lily I planted is coming up. I find joy in just making eye contact with my cat, and having him start singing the song of his people. But then, I don't have little kids who need to be entertained while cooped up.

What I have been looking at are the super spreader from high end people/parties. Austria ski area bar where beer pong was played by spitting the pong balls into the cups. Connecticut birthday party spread all the way to Johannasburg SA. And another party in Kentucky. The spring break partiers who think they are superpeople. This story came from a neighbor. A 4 year olds mother had just had a baby. The 4 year old went to school, came home with the flu. The flu killed her mother. The woman was 80 plus years old and had to live with the fact that she killed her mother. I'm sure there were other cases.
The story about the child who gave flu to her mom was told today by Dr Birx. It was her mom who remembered all her life how she gave flu to her mom who died Dr Birx is a fabulously competent physician and explains during the press conferences what is happening during this medical crisis so clearly and kindly

IIronically, the FB trading sites are still active. I bought a light fixture a week ago myself, but that was right before I decided to really shut this down.
Today my painter came to replace rotten wood around the sunroom windows, caulk, and paint. We had scheduled before this started. He didn't come inside, and we maintained safe distances apart.
Was it necessary? Sort of but not really. But I am one of his last two jobs, and I was a small one. He came alone to minimize social contact. He has one more exterior project at an empty house.

Today was the first entire day of our “shelter in place” order. I leave for work before DBF and when I was leaving this morning I told him I expected it would probably be weird going to work with little or no traffic. Which was true until I got to the highway. Traffic on the highway has already been noticeably lighter during my commute for the last week or so, but it didn’t seem to be fewer vehicles this morning than last week.
I was headed toward the heart of the city though, where there are more hospitals and businesses that I can see being considered “essential”. I wouldn’t think so many people would be out before dawn on a weekday unless they were headed to a job that’s considered essential. I hope not anyway.
On the weekends, I‘ve always thought the people on the roads with me at that time of the morning probably included people finally heading home from partying and hanging out all night. So now, maybe those will be the mornings that make a striking difference.

There are no English-only squirrels in Quebec, except for the black ones. They're from Toronto. I have mentioned this before. My dad used to say the dogs of France are very smart. They understand French. I once tried to teach the neighbor's dog French. It just seemed to annoy him. He liked Russian, though, for some reason and would stare at me with rapt attention if I spoke to him in Russian. Dogs are so much fun.

My next-door neighbor has multiple health problems including COPD. I know this because his back deck has been half-completed for years. If someone were to walk out of the sliding glass doors on the top floor they'd encounter beams about 8" apart with no planking to stand on. He's been pleading poor health every time we (the HOA) ask him about this. It's too cold to work out there, but when it warms up... or vice versa. His doc needs to clear him first. (What doc would let a 60-ish guy with COPD do second-floor work outside?) So... I was out mowing and he and his wife get out of their truck with multiple shopping bags- after unloading, he goes off elsewhere. Wonder what his doc would say about THAT.

And this is why the epidemic will not peter out quickly.

However, a report from The New York Times on Friday revealed, in harrowing detail, that the Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, New York, scrambled to get more ventilators while having to work with only “a few dozen.” The link includes a CSPAN video of Dr Brix's statement www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-officials-no-evidence-ventilator-coronavirus_n_5e7d3e7fc5b6256a7a27a0e6?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAJYhT11SB67BFJ5uO29MPQAl3Rczcl0JYgozkQm5dC8CskeJ0-SB7ziAK1qlSLEzHLKgJIsHtyfXLlz4_Wt5XLn9sWseLeYCxenc0zvGnDW-BCs_-OwNWpkgjCvBs21m8AvErDy8UVO2cb2zxhk1ls_9UzupuHN7bVXezi5hGHlf

I'm home. Only stuck my head out to see which neighbor H. was sitting with. Very safe social distanced. It's chilly out and my hair is wet and I allow natural drying. Doing my part. Unlike one of my golf friends who is learning Canasta. I asked online. No. Card parties just moved to homes.

The wind is blowing like crazy here. Sun out and 58 but the wind makes it feel cold.
DD and I don't even get dressed most days anymore. I need to wash our hair today, looks awful. My color is growing out, been quite awhile will see how it looks. Hubs is a pretty color, he was kind of dishwater blonde, now its blonde and silver and looks really good. Wish mine would do that. And yep at 73 he has a full head of hair. Son inherited my dads male pattern baldness and he is not happy. LOL!
I am eventually going to the basement to sew. Might take a nap first.
DD wants steak, didn't used to like it, not sure why she does now. So I am thawing rib eyes, having baked potatoes, and salad. I have bread but need to bake some, we love home baked bread, way to much. Also need to get pie crusts out of the freezer.
We are going to get fat if not careful. Trying to keep to 1 or 2 meals a day with yogurt and milk or cereal with breakfast.

My sister in law just texted me that she and her kids are still doing stuff, because illness is our body's way of strengthening our immune system, plus the blood of Jesus is stronger than any illness. When I messaged her back about how we should try not to get it so we can protect the vulnerable, she texted me Bible verses.

Just remind her that the devil tempted Jesus while he was in the desert for 40 days. And that you don't plan to give in to temptation.

When I was in the grocery store last week, all the Chiefs T-shirts and the St. Patrick's Day merchandise was in sale bins. Sadly, I think that's where a lot of the Easter merchandise will end up. I'm sure my Easter will be similar to this Sunday- Bible study with my church group vai Zoom, then an on-line service at the (almost) empty National Cathedral. It will have to do.

Hopefully you can open this link and text her the picture: You can also quote James 4:8:

Social distancing tragedy. Brooklyn woman, 86, dies after she’s knocked to the ground by stranger for violating coronavirus social distancing: police sourcesThe NYPD is investigating what might be the city’s first coronavirus-related homicide — after a woman hit an elderly Brooklyn hospital patient in the head for violating social distancing, sources said Sunday. Victim Janie Marshall, 86, died less than four hours after the tense confrontation with 32-year-old Cassandra Lundy in Bedford-Stuyvesant’s Woodhull Hospital, cops said. Marshall, who was at the hospital for a bowel obstruction, innocently grabbed a metal stand in a hallway near a bed where Lundy, a seizure patient, was sitting around 2 p.m. Saturday, police sources said. Lundy lashed out, complaining Marshall wasn’t following coronavirus social distancing guidelines, and allegedly slugged her in the head, knocking her to the ground, according to police sources. Some of the confrontation was caught on video, though no one witnessed it. Hospital police issued Lundy a disorderly conduct summons after the attack and released her, sources said. Lundy, who lives in Bedford-Stuyvesant, has 17 prior arrests, on charges including drug possession, trespass, assault and strangulation, sources said. The disorderly conduct charge was probably issued at the time of the incident but before the poor victim died.

The autopsy will determine the future charges. I imagine more charges will be filed based upon past history of Lundy.
