I'm having cheezits instead of M&Ms. That's progress, right? Um, yes? 😉

I worked out this afternoon for about half an hour then took the shower to worked around the house. Sorry if this tmi, but whenever I take up exercising regularly my period starts. Does this happen to anyone else? Like even if it’s not time for it to start?

Does this happen to anyone else? Like even if it’s not time for it to start? I have an IUD so I don't have them on a set schedule anyway but I would usually get one maybe once or twice a year. Now I get it once every two to three months. I need to get up and get moving but I'm still laying in bed. Got woken up by my 5 year old because he had to go to the bathroom and didn't want to go alone. I can't get back to sleep but I'm not ready to be up yet.

In the effort to reduce sugar and snacking, I'm making progress. I'm looking at the flip side of reduce which would be add. And adding a focus on keeping fruit and vegetable snack options stocked (also keeping boiled eggs in the fridge), and starting and ending each day with a full glass of water.

I typically weigh in on Fridays. From Jan 1 to Friday I lost .9 pounds. I'm doing well getting my walk in every day, but it is easier for me to get it done in the morning or during my lunch break. I need some new sports bras. My current ones are all too small because they were from when I ran and weighed about 40 pounds less. Even the ones I bought to wear around the house when I about 175-180 are too small to be comfortable. I'm going to get a few new ones today. I don't want to have to wait a couple of months for it to not be awful to put the sports bra on.

Good morning! So, it's a week into January, and I'm finally ready to acknowledge that the new year has begun. Since 2015, I've put on 25 pounds. It was a culmination of a lay-off in 2015, launching my two babies into adulthood in 2016 & 2019, a bulging disc in my lower back in mid-2018, a round of ICU and surgeries in the first half of 2019, not having any willpower over portion sizes and sugar consumption, and reaching age 40. At the beginning of the school year (September 2019) I had a major bout of situational depression. This combined with working at least 60 hours per week limited my cardio time also. I finally reached a breaking point this fall and decided it was okay to join a program. In late November, I started a program called Optavia. The image below is the weight loss that has occurred since starting the program.
For January, my Healthy Lifestyle plans are: ~continue with the 5&1 meal plan ~lose another five pounds by January 31 ~add cardio back into my schedule at least two days per week ~add 15 minutes of yoga back into my daily schedule
For January - March, my plans are: ~continue with the 5&1 meal plan ~reach 130lbs by the end of March (this is where I was in Spring 2015) ~add cardio back into my schedule at least four days per week ~add light weight training in three days per week

Went back to the gym to lift weights again. I hadn't been feeling much from it so far, but I did today with the 2 days in a row! I was planning on tomorrow as well, since I don't work, but now I'm not so sure.

Great job on the weight loss, Knee Deep in Water Chloe! I got on the scale this morning, and I’m down 2lbs from last week. I’m guessing it’s mostly holiday/travel bloat, but I’m glad to see it. I’ve worked out every day in 2020 so far, even if it was just a 30 minute walk. I’m so glad to be getting back into a better routine.

Weekly check in
Missed step goal by 750. I have a cold. This weeks goal will be 85000 steps, no snacking after 8:00 and get back to logging calories. After 2 weeks of very reduced hours I have to return to a regular work schedule.
1/1/19 177.2 1/1/20 165.2 1/6/20 165.2
I have joined the new Stridekick app. Not sure if there is interest in having challenges. I have the same user name.
Have a great week everyone.

Back to the gym tonight. No running for me.
We were going to go Saturday and my knee decided to suddenly hurt as I was walking up steps. Hips are bothering me too so my hip flexors decided to wait until the day I was going to the gym to pitch a fit.
Going to try the weight exercises and hope that helps. Foam rolling and a hot bath did nothing.

We'll see how many people are at the gym tonight. Thursday wasn't bad, but we were also assuming people were waiting for Monday to start on resolutions. It should be interesting tonight. There were a few new faces in my zumba class last week. A couple of them only lasted for half the class. Hopefully they try again or find something better for them.

Did my 3rd day in a row with the weights. Probably not the best way to go about this, but it's what works with my schedule. Working out at home after work the rest of the week. I only need the gym for the weight machines, and the gym is 20 minutes away.

ners I downloaded the new stridekick app too. Same username as before. I can't decide if I like the new app, but I'm so used to checking it every day that I downloaded it and am keeping up with it, haha.

my measurable goal for 2020 is to get solidly into the next size down. anything else is a bonus. I have been awkwardly in between sizes for most of this year, and it sucks to try to dress for work.
past that, I want to continue cleaning up my eating habits, drink less alcohol, and exercise more. the eating and drinking have already improves since the mooching roommate moved out. the exercising is tough while I am still commuting 2h each day. but, I will be splitting most work days to aid my pups in resetting their normal routine, which will afford me time to take long walks with them. once I move, all of the apartments I am looking at have gyms on-site. so there goes the excuse of inconvenience!

I broke down and started calorie tracking again. I didn't want to go there, but the weights caused me to gain half a pound. That's the wrong direction!

The good news is I haven't started trying to pencil whip the snack category. If I called it a snack before, it's still in that category now. The bad news is that I don't think I've hit it yet.
Sat was 839, but I didn't really eat much "real food" in the way of dinner or lunch. Which is how a typical Saturday goes, and I have to quit that. Too many snacks and not enough nutrition.

Ok, so I got it once. Yesterday was also the day I turned down an offer from DH to share his Reese's Trees with him. Success!

It sounds like that might be what your body is used to. Instead of reducing your snacks so substantially, what if you considered having six small meals?

Finally made my green juice this morning. That was breakfast. Tonight I'm making chicken and broccoli pasta for dinner.
I was at the gym last night and wearing a littleess clothing than I normally do and I'm digging the shape I'm in, but I'm trying to make it just a little bit better. Maybe one more dress size. The swelling going down after the tummy tuck is helping. I wish it would all go away already.

Went to the gym last night and did 35 minutes on the elliptical and 2 laps around the small track while I waited for hubs to finish his cool down on the treadmill. Today, my right hip (surgery side) is throbbing so bad that I wish I could just sink my fingers deep into my leg and itch down to the bone. I finally got rid of this feeling a month ago when I got back into a regular barre3 routine and now it's back. Ugh. I think it's my fault because I wore the Brooks I bought back in September that destroyed my entire fall for physical activity (that's a story), hubs thinks it's because I haven't used an elliptical in a while. I have muscle soreness and the deep pain, so I know the hip issue is separate from the general workout soreness. I don't know how to get it through his thick head that while most of my hip issues were corrected with surgery, I'm never going to be fully recovered. Since I have meetings tonight and tomorrow I will just rest and then do some barre3 Friday, and go to the gym Sunday wearing my trusty Asics (why did they change the Nimbus?!?!?! 😭) and seeing if they don't create problems.

I'm super annoyed that literally the day I was set to go to the gym, my hip flexors and all that stuff pick that day to act up.
I'm going tonight. No running though. I looked up stretches last night and will add those.
Damn desk job! I'm tempted to have the massage therapist work on it Monday but I'm also afraid I will cry. I don't think I could tolerate it very well.
It is making me sleep on my back again because the pain is worse laying on my side.

Chips, candy, whatever... 500 calories later I feel like cooking and I've eaten a meal's worth of calories already. I don't really snack at work, I have that figured out. I'm working on starting to cook when I get home and avoiding after dinner snacks and dessert. So the reduced calories in that category are a win in a couple of ways.

I gained 6 lbs. over the summer. Then joined a gym for the first time in 17 years in September. 3 of the 6 lbs. are gone, looking better, and my jeans fit again, so small progress. Yesterday was a gym day and I am sore today. I did weights, 20 minutes on the stepper, 10 minutes of running, and 20 minutes of walking.

I've been having a hard time getting myself up in the morning. I'm usually a morning exerciser, but I may need to try evenings for awhile. Maybe when it gets lighter sooner it will get easier. I didn't exercise this morning, but am going to try to fit one in when I get home from work.

WholeLottaNothin, I like to exercise in the morning as well. Which for me means before work (which begins at 8am). So twice this week I was up super early to go to the gym to work out. It's kicking my butt. It's awful. I spent over a decade as a morning exerciser, but for some reason, I just can't get it together this year. I'm already trying to convince myself that going after work next week won't be so bad (it will be TERRIBLE - January newbies at the gym, plus college students back from break, plus evenings are always jammed at my gym). Ugh. In other news, while I've been relatively good for the first 10 days of 2020, my DH just texted that he wants pizza for dinner. Ok, fine, except I went out to lunch with a coworker and ate my weight in chips and guac/queso. Sigh. I actually want pizza too, but it feels a little indulgent to eat that much crap in one day.

I mean, the guac is full of veggies and good fat, so it's not that bad. I say go for it. Just be sure to put veggies on the pizza. I'm such an enabler.

Made the trek to the gym today. We were supposed to have freezing rain turning to snow, so I was a bit nervous. The roads turned out okay for the time I was out on them. I pushed the weights at first, but started getting some numbness in the side of my back, so I went to my normal lighter weights.
I did lose a pound or so, so going in the right direction finally!
