I worked on the guest room project and organized the Christmas wrapping supplies, threw out a bunch of stuff in a box that was sitting in my closet and have a few items posted on the "free stuff" exchange group. It is progress. DH did a great job cleaning stuff out of his home office -- between my project and his project we gave away a lot of items and threw out 2 trash bags full of stuff. I donated 2 books to a community book library and plan to donate the rest of the books to a community organization that has a big book sale fundraiser. They will open their donation bins in August so I have one more month before I can do that.

Debthaven - the new house is in Kansas! I’ll be 36 this year and it’s all still very surreal to me 😃 of course the house does need work which I am VERY excited to do but I have a lot of dreams and plans. Congrats on the new house and no mortgage! I usually just lurk/read, but had to comment because I was born and spent the first 30+ years of life in (western) KS. Very reasonable cost of living; DH and I have discussed moving back someday (we still have plenty of family there), but I love the Seattle area so much. Maybe someday though... And because this is the declutter thread, I've got an entire spare bedroom full of stuff to get rid of when Goodwill opens back up.

Ok. Here's link to my pantry project: before, during and after. There's also a pic of my office - minus all the clutter - lol! I added a couple cabinets in there to hold my platters, tablecloths, extra paper towels, napkins, etc.
I'll probably take this down after a bit.

So here's the list I made in August 2019 and made absolutely no progress on. 1. Install closet organizer 2. Paint den (these 2 are left over from the last list) 3. Install new backsplash in kitchen. 4. Refinish my fridge with stainless steel contact paper. 5. Paint kitchen. (Not as big a job as it sounds, I have a small kitchen without much bare wall space) 6. Paint living room, entrance and hallway) 7. Paint my bedroom. Number 8 is more of a wish list item. If I can get vinyl planking at the right price I would like to replace all the laminate in my house. so I finally have my livingroom painted and will hopefully finish my hallway and entrance tomorrow. This has been on my list 2 years or so..

paynointerest are the air mattresses still good, or will you need to replace them? congrats on all the progress! debthaven -- your memory is incredible. I forgot that I mentioned that. I blew up the air mattresses and they all were good. Luckily I don't have to replace them.

iggy i dont know what it's called but i agree it's an absolutely gorgeous color. ds1 and ddil used it in their apartment, and so did my dear friend A who just redid her kitchen and hallway using that color. i would call it seafoam green but i'm sure there's a better name for it. eta oops i think i'm thinking of the kitchen.

Hmmm... not sure what the paint color is called. I'll see if I can find it. I do get a lot of compliments on it from everyone who comes over and sees it. I just wanted something that wasn't neutral. It made it harder to paint that trim white, though, lol.
I'm lovin' the storage cabinets I put in there. I stock up on things like toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex, detergent, cleaners, etc. Now this is a much better place to store it all. I can really stock up when I find a good price.
Today I'm going to try to tackle the weeds in my flower bed. Wish me luck.

I picked up my truck from the shop today and that was a 7 hour round trip drive! Thankfully it’s running much smoother and I get the small trailer tomorrow to pack before I leave town Friday. I’m already tired so hoping there are no more vehicle issues before I go.

yay for the truck repairs! safe trip startsmart!
i spent ages on the phone with our phone/internet provider, but a lot got done. they did a remote upgrade of our internet box, transferred the billing to dh's company, and gave me a cheaper monthly plan. yay! if the remote upgrade doesn't work we'll need to go to the store.
this week (updated)
- call phone/internet provider/thurs
- electrician/thurs - shitepile
eta: it took the electrician an hour to fix the two plugs and light switch in the guest room. he charged us 50 euros ($56). i'm thrilled! i set up the 2 night table lamps from the basement.

oh how exciting theo!!! (not the colonoscopy, obviously, lol) sorry if this is tmi but my nurse friend e told me to apply diaper rash cream generously during the prep. both dh and i get that exam regularly and it really helps. breaking my wrist and being dependent has absolutely terrified me. you may remember i agreed to work a crazy amount of hours in sem 1 to make up for the income i'm losing due to covid. i just told job 2 that i would only work a half day on mondays instead of a 3/4 day. it's still 5 days/week in sem 1 but only 4 early starts, ie 4.5 days/week. it's still a lot but it's better than 5. Hugs

Sales are holding steady in my sale group on FB, so I am continuing to unload my excess items. I went through my dresser yesterday, not so much to purge, but to just refold and neaten the items in the drawers. I found a few items that used to be TOO small that now fit, thanks to PURGING 43 lbs since January! Great news about the weight loss!

Ugh, I am sorry, TheOtherMe . If she cannot, do you have an alternate plan? No, I do not have an alternate plan because she told me she would take me. I’ve only read this far, so hopefully she came to her senses. However, at this point, I am again annoyed with your sister.

It got worked out and she drove me this morning and even brought me home. She also told me she never told me that it would depend on the time of my procedure, which is not true. I'm finally among the living again. One small polyp and good drugs.

Okay y’all are my witnesses that I will never let my dad work on my cars EVER again! Today I had to drive an hour to get my small trailer which holds the tools I’ll need and random yard stuff that didn’t fit in the POD. On the way I had to put the truck into overdrive and then it wouldn’t shift out! The truck normally runs at 1500 rpm and was idling around 4000 going 40mph which would have messed up the engine if it continued.
My gear shifter (on the steering column) was broken but usable and when I left for my Kansas road trip my dad “fixed it.” Now keep in mind I’ve only driven this truck once since I got back, it’s been in and out of the shop and I can’t drive it without registration/smog and it would pass smog until the mechanic was done with it.
Turns out my dad GLUED the gear shifter to a piece of WOOD, covered that in a METAL PIPE, then added two CLAMPS and used a roll of electrical TAPE around the whole thing. It took me and a mechanic 20 min to free it so I could press the button to stop overdrive.
I was nearly too late to get the trailer, then spent 2 hours packing it until it got too dark out, and I am so freaking exhausted. God save me from men who think they’re helping and just make my life more stressful and complicated. The only reason I didn’t have a breakdown 75 miles from home when it was 100 degrees out and I had a massive headache was that I bought a 200 pill bottle of pain meds today and could take two while I waited for the truck to be fixed.
I have 4 days of driving ahead of me and then I’ll be unpacking everything so if I don’t check in it’s due to continued exhaustion. Right now I’m sitting in front of the fan waiting for the energy to take a shower.

startsmart Sorry about what your dad did to the truck. Being in Kansas, he won't be fixing it again--I hope. Have a safe drive to Kansas and check in when you can.

Another quick check in. I have been sleeping at home since Tuesday night. Mom recognized that I was so miserably tired that I was barely functioning. By then Mom could get herself in and out of bed, she didn't like to do it by herself by could. I still have plenty of Mom duties but at least I am sleeping at home in my own bed.
This weekend I am back to painting and hope to get a lot done. My goal is to have two coats of color on the exterior but that is a stretch goal.

startsmart ugh about the truck!!! safe trip! can't wait to hear you arrived safely. TheOtherMe i'm so glad your sister came through for you, and that the procedure went well! Sharon i'm thrilled you were finally able to sleep in your own bed. Maybe since the worst is over now your siblings can step up?! finnime i looked at the maximum dose for my painkillers. it was TWICE what the doc prescribed!!! so last night i took 1.5 times his prescribed dose and slept all night for the first time in 2 weeks! i'm way under his maximum 24h dose so i'll keep doing that for now. We had E today. :-) most of the kids come Sun and stay overnight, then we have E on Mon/Tues/Wed. frankly that's too much for me now but i said yes because then they leave for the uk for 6 days for ddil's mom's 70th. this way they don't have to pay for childcare while they're in the uk, which saves them a lot. dd will come on wed. i thought today was the nurse's last visit but she'll be back on sun. i'm extremely squeamish and worried about doing the dressings myself. i'm also concerned that my students will think i tried to kill myself this summer. i decided i was being silly until dh agreed and ds2 (who graduated from my school) said the same thing. since i teach public speaking/presentations i may mention my accident/surgery in my introductory speech. i finally made my post-op x-ray and doc appts today. i didn't do Shitepile but it's still there.
