I don't know if I am going to see baby on Monday or not and I'm not happy about that. Sister told me on way to procedure that she was going from there after I was done to get tested for covid. I asked why and she said as soon as she got her test results she was going to see her grandson and stay a few days. I had her repeat that because I thought I was going on Monday. She said the second time as soon as she gets her results, she is going there.
As soon as I got home yesterday, I sent DNephew1 a text and I have not received a reply.
I will be so disappointed if I don't get to go.

Oh no TheO! i'm not clear on something. would you both be there at the same time, or just overlap for a day or so? i know how much you were looking forward to this. has she seen the baby yet? if she hasn't, my guess is she wants to see him first, on principle. i hope you get a good answer from your dn1.

Just stopping in to catch up. Hope all of you have a safe holiday tomorrow! I am keeping up with the house and getting some craft items worked on daily. Finished the second kit and will start the last one sometime in the coming week or so. I do have a few medical appointments coming up within the next two weeks or so. I still have a few that I have to schedule for annual checkups but I want to get finished with the ones on the calendar first. I am continuing to go out rarely and when I am out to combine errands whenever possible. I am also pulling items from my stash to be creative and have several item on my list to start as well as at least one started. This week I finished several bead woven bracelets as well as the kit I have been working on. debthaven -- Wishing you continued healing! Sharon -- Glad that your mom is well enough for you to be able to sleep in your own bed. startsmart -- Have a safe trip and check in with us asap! I know that there are other comments I wanted to make but a storm in looming. The wind has picked up and the rain is teeming so I will sign off now!

From how long it takes to get the test results, we would be there at the same time and I am not doing that.
I was so looking forward to it and I'm not very happy that I've not heard from my nephew.
She had a covid test earlier and spent 4 days there so I'm not sure why they were even talking about her going back--especially during my scheduled visit.
I will text him in the morning and if I don't hear back, I will just assume I am not going and order groceries to pick up on Sunday or Monday.

I got about 6 hours of painting in today, that is about my max before I just plain poop out. Not sure how the neighbors felt about the extension ladder ratcheting up and down outside their bedroom window at 7am this morning. I had talked with the lady a few weeks about that I was going to be needing to do this. Before I started painting today I made a berry cobbler with berries from my backyard. Mom and I will have some of that this evening. I also ran and emptied the dishwasher today and have started laundry for the weekend.

Some more items that were clogging up the patio were sent away with my cleaner today - along with some notebooks and other supplies. My DH wants to give away some of his stuff and I am not going to say no to that . Good luck with your trip startsmart . The drive from CA to Kansas is a beautiful one until we hit the KS border - we did that in 2 days (from Socal) but just stopped for one night in Denver.

Day 1 of driving is DONE & I am so happy to be indoors. The dogs are loving hotel life and will go out once or twice more before bed. The trailer is great and the truck is driving like a dream. I wish I could do this in 2 days like when I came out in June to see houses but with the trailer and the dogs it’ll be 4 days, easy.
My brother came over this morning when I was finishing up and re-secured my ties on the truck bed. I’d done it in near dark last night and it wasn’t too good. My 3 yo niece was the most helpful as she carried out half a case of water for the ice chest, one bottle at a time!
The most obnoxious thing so far is food, most places are still drive thru only and that’s a no go with the trailer. There’s a grocery store across from the hotel I may go to tomorrow, I need something more substantial for these long days and I keep forgetting meals.

Nice and cloudy this morning, good painting weather. I am so stiff and sore we shall see how much I can get done. At least the rest of the weekend all painting can be done on the 6 ft ladder. The extension ladder and the 8 ft ladder are both out until I get to the trim work.

I am in shock. My sister tested positive for covid. She has no symptoms. Since we were together in her car on Thursday (both with masks and our hands did not touch), I don't think it's safe to go see baby. The last thing I want to do is give baby covid. Nephew agrees. She called her other 3 kids. 2nd oldest nephew was on his way home for the weekend so he turned around and went home. 3rd nephew is working at Dairy Queen so he is probably not going to work until he gets tested. Her daughter, the nurse, called her boss and was told to check her temperature twice a day and as long as she has no fever, she can work. I never thought I would be exposed to covid. I have been so careful. And she thought her son was being silly about requiring a covid test before seeing grandbaby.

I'm sorry you were exposed when you were planning to see your great-nephew. I really hope you don't develop COVID yourself, TheOtherMe.

finnime Thank you Since she has no symptoms, I can't be mad at her. I'm very sad I can't see baby. I will be self quarantining for 14 days. My hope is masks work.

Oh no, so sorry TOM, if you were both masked your odds are good. I am starting to think we all have it... if we were only able to get tested!

She thought I was crazy when I told her we would both be wearing masks in the car. I am so glad that I insisted on masks. I'm hoping the masks save me. Here it isn't that hard to get tested. When the governor decided she was done with covid, she said anyone can get tested. We definitely have an outbreak in our community. The high school graduation had to be canceled and both the softball and baseball teams are quarantined. I live in a town of 2000 people and a test site was set up here yesterday. Yes, in a town of 2000 people. I have not been in any place in this town except my own house.

i don't understand how they can be so sure of this. did they mean IF you caught it, you'll test positive at that point? it's good that you're getting tested though.

Wishing you the very best, TheOtherMe! Good grief. Talk about an unwelcome surprise. Not a whole lot to report here, other than we did get DS's furniture ordered, and I was finally able to get new license plates here. Which means we'll have to move a bunch of stuff around in his room. Once the furniture is delivered, at least he'll have more storage space. How is the healing process going, debthaven? It's been very hot here, so it's hard to sleep. The air conditioner just isn't keeping up, between the heat and the humidity.

That is what the woman at the hotline said. She said if I caught it from my sister, I would test positive by mid-week, even if I am showing no symptoms. She said people test positive before showing symptoms.

Everything on the house that needs color now has two coats. It has been a long three days on the ladder. This morning I was smart enough to start on the hard end of the house, so fought the bushes in the morning instead of the afternoon when I was more tired. Mom knows she is on her own today. I watered all her plants really well yesterday so they can skip a day, no mail today, she will be fine. I got the back deck swept and moved my patio furniture around so it isn't jammed together for painting. Dinner tonight will be steak on the grill and a quiet evening by myself. I need to start painting the trim but think that I will clean the gutters first. The outside of the gutters needs to be scrubbed with some bleach water, they are pretty dirty and looking green in some places. The gutter guard also needs to be replaced it is years old. If I do those chores first then the fascia board will be cleaner for painting and I won't get a mess in my trim paint.

Saturday, in addition to regular chores, the master bathroom was my focus: Area rugs and shower curtain were washed and air dried Cleared off and wiped down the counter
Cleaned the mirror, hand mirror and window Dusted the towel and TP holders and window frame
Applied baking soda/vinegar/boiling water to my drain
Sprayed the shower tile Cleaned (well, half of it) the soaker tub Cleaned the scale and toilet
Swept Refilled the Q-tip holder and hand soap dispenser Tossed two expired things Added a few things to the grocery list
Restocked the TP, clean towels and washcloths
Emptied the garbage

Did a load of laundry this morning and folded it.
Since then I've been waiting for a call from gastro re: colonoscopy.
They finally called and I'm good for 7 years. I will be 77 then. If I do that one, it will be the last one. I am certain at 80 something, I would choose not to treat it.

7 years?! i'm jealous TheO lol. I'm on the 3-4 year plan. iggy great job! but have you looked into hiring a cleaner like you said?! most of the kids were here for dinner last night. ds1 suddenly decided that having us (ie me) watch E for 3 days in a row was too much for me with my arm in a brace and sleeve. so they hired a babysitter for today (one of ds3's friends) and went home after dinner. ds2 and P stayed, it was great to see them. so now we're only watching E tomorrow and wednesday this week. dd is coming tomorrow to help because i have a work lunch and there's a lot i can't do (ie put E's shoes on, pull his pants up, etc). dh has a work meeting in paris. the nurse came yesterday but she messed up. she was supposed to cut off the ends of my stitches. i told her that, she said she'd check after she redoes my dressing. she redid my dressing, checked, and says oops, you're right, i was supposed to cut off the stitches today. she said it doesn't matter if they come out tuesday, and that two weeks was a bit quick. i asked my friend E who agreed, no problem with doing it tues, and that two weeks is indeed very quick. i have a local work lunch tomorrow plus one zoom class this week, so 2h of work this week. the professor i'm having lunch with always insists on taking me out to lunch for for our last class of the school year. He lives in the next suburb but since i can't drive we're meeting at a restaurant that's a 10 minute walk from home for me.

Thanks, debthaven. And, no, I haven't looked into it. I was out for a few days last week, and then we had the 3 day holiday weekend.

debthaven This colonoscopy was on the 3 year plan (because a precancerous tumor was found at the last one but it was delayed due to covid) so I'm thrilled to be on a 7 year plan. Because of my previous history (goes back to 1999), I have probably had 15 colonoscopies. I've been told to go no longer than 5 years before this one.
