LOL. I read somewhere that they have more round-a-bouts than anywhere else in the country. I believe that completely.

I realized I may miss my deadline if I don’t work diligently on the quilt these next few days. Today I’ve been working on the 30ish rows I still need to quilt. Tonight I’ll cut and iron the pieces needed for the binding.m and with any luck it’ll be done on Thursday on schedule.
The next few days are going to be hectic work wise so I’m hopeful it’ll get done.

Worked on decluttering old computer files. I spent hours on it and barely made a dent lol. Also gathered some things for Goodwill. I don't declutter every day, but I figure if I work on it at least a few days a week I'm making progress.

Wooo hooo! despite a lot of issues with my top thread, I did get the whole quilt top stitched and squared up so I can begin adding the binding tomorrow. The binding is cut and pieced together but I still need to iron it and then pin it in place.
With any luck I'll get the binding done tomorrow after my client calls in time for my self-imposed deadline.
On the decluttering front, I have a friend who wants my chest freezer and two bins of stuff ready to go to the Goodwill. Hoping to make it out there before Friday.

My kids went thru the DVDs and have a stack of them that they no longer want to keep. I'm assuming it counts as long as it leaves my house.

In bringing stuff to Iowa, I made two trips. The first trip, the car wasn't that full but the second trip, stuff was up to the bottom part of the windows. I may have to stuff it full when I load it up for my move to Indiana. I'm going through my clothes again. Doing another purge of "don't needs". There's a Style Encore in Des Moines so I'll take the WHBM stuff there and see if I can get a bit of cash for it.

I'm very impressed startsmart! Beautiful work! You could probably get a list of clients here who would love you to make them a quilt.

Thanks everyone! I got 2/3 of the binding done before I ran out of matching thread so I’ll finish it up tomorrow.
It’s definitely an imperfect quilt so I don’t know if I’d ever want to sell them. I may do some this year as gifts but considering this one took me 4 months and 1800 pieces of fabric I’d much rather make them for me and be happy despite any imperfections.
I am really looking forward to having a dedicated sewing space in my next house with a table that’s large enough to piece on - I was measuring for the binding and this quilt fell right off the table in the dining room.

Yesterday the electrician came and cut a smaller hole than I'd feared in the ceiling to replace the wiring. It's done and now all my outlets are three-prong in the kitchen. Handyman to come Monday to fill hole in ceiling and hang new light fixture.
Today I'm turning 60. Made Swedish pancakes for breakfast and took DD to a doctor's appointment for follow up to her surgery. She has another appointment tomorrow with a different doctor, too. I'd clean the house but don't want to spend my birthday doing that. Instead will go out with DH this evening and maybe see a movie.
Decluttering and cleaning will wait for tomorrow, and the next day, and the next.

Happy birthday finnimeEnjoy your day. Don't clean house or do any work today. Enjoy your day! I'm having a new garbage disposal installed in the morning. I bought the disposal probably 18 months ago. I think I was waiting for the sink to stop draining for it to be installed. That time has come. The disposal quit working when I bought the new one.

This weekend- editing for E/Thurs- write/send elective description/Fri I'm teaching 2 summer term electives at Job 2 this year (instead of 1) so I had to design a second elective. Two colleagues (including one of my bosses) offered me theirs. Very kind and generous, but I felt I had to create my own. It's a struggle because I'm not very creative. I finalized it tonight, and sent it to one boss and DS3 for feedback. It will probably need tweaking but at least the draft is done. It's due tomorrow.
My usual elective is public speaking. The new elective is a writing workshop. I hope I don't live to regret it (in terms of marking) LOL.
ETA: DS3 wrote back, "Fantastic! Perfect list!" I'm know my boss won't be as effusive but DS3 is a fabulous writer, so I know I'm on the right track.

I have been using my SAD lamp diligently. I only have time to use it for 30-45 min in the morning (less than the prescribed time), but I still feel a positive effect.
I told DH I want a spot at the kitchen table to have my coffee and check emails before work. I cleared the table tonight but now DH's pile is on the desk. DH's paperwork STILL never ends but now it only takes about 30 min every 2-3 weeks. I did get rid of some of it tonight.
Yes I could use one of the kids' rooms but I prefer to be in the common areas. So I'll set up my lamp on the kitchen table this weekend.

I have things related to dad's death tomorrow. I'm making the call on the life insurance because otherwise the call won't get made. Way back in December, I was told to call 5 business days after the death certificate was submitted through the portal. I do not want them to sit on the life insurance, small amount or not. I happened to notice the executor appointment notice in the paper. I'm going to call the court tomorrow because if I read it correctly, it says that any person who is going to contest the will has 30 days from the date written notice is sent. I have not received written notice but I don't want to call the attorney if I am not interpreting this correctly. Otherwise, it's 4 months from date of publication. I think we still have to wait 4 months to distribute the estate funds if there is no contesting of the will because we have to wait for outstanding bills--even though we know the two outstanding bills. Once I ask the court my question, if they can't answer the question, I will call the attorney. I doubt my sister even knows it's been published. Second and final publication is Sunday, so he is using the small estate expedited process.

I'm very pleased to report that since DH was home today, he and I went through some boxes in the garage. We emptied out 3 of them, and I have a large pile of stuff by the front door, ready to go to a local charity. This time we're giving to an organization that has a store where the profits go to a nearby women's shelter. I also spent part of the day organizing some paperwork for tax time.

I declutter then we add more stuff. We just bought 9 plastic ammo boxes to put things in, they are double boxes and were on sale for $11.80 each at Sam's. Hubs is using his for power tools, so far mine will be filled with meds, across the counter and scrips. On the scrip ones, going to label what they were for and keep them for some time, hubs said you never know what we might need until we could get to a doc or something. I think he is correct.
I'm thinking a lot of my old real estate records could go, we have them in a lateral file in the basement, every single place we have bought and sold. But then, they aren't bothering anything so may just leave them there.
But so much needs to goooooooo.
