I’ve done as much painting in the office as I can (without unplugging the internet modem!) and moved the bed into place. It looks so good in there! I had to really scrub the window frame and need to hang curtains but I’m very happy with it.
Extra fabric for burp cloths and quilts is under the bed so the living room is looking more spacious too.
I made up the bed and added pillows, next is hanging some artwork on the walls. Oh and I need to clean the fan which is filthy and finish painting the fireplace.

House updates: The garage is no longer a garage but an out-building/storage room/shop. While it still has the garage doors, there is a fully livable room being built in the back half of it. We will use it as an exercise room, but the next owners could use it as a man cave, sewing room, home-school room, etc.
The painters power washed the exterior of our house this week and should be starting the painting next week on the outside of our house. We have new gates being installed next week. One set is the drive way into where we park our RV. The other two are solely for people walking through. One is next to the front of our garage; the other is at the fence between our front yard and back yard. We ordered them with arbors, so that should be fun.
I have new master bedroom shades being installed next week. After that, we'll decide if the rug swatch I brought home actually works with the master bedroom.
Schedule-wise, I've got a bit of a grasp on how I'm going to adapt my routines. I'm going to write it out tomorrow to see if it actually works. Part of the idiosyncracy is that, while my classes are scheduled from 4:30 - 7:30 Tues, Wed, Thurs, two of them will end at 6:30. The other hour is supposed to via pre-recorded video that we watch when we see fit. So, I still need to use that 6:30 - 7:30 hour wisely, but it is more flexible than I originally thought.

Lots of changes around the house Chloe! That's great news about the "evening" classes.
Job 2 put me on Zoom on Monday because not enough classrooms. (Most students who were due to go abroad didn't.) Between that and the new system at Job 1, I now only have to go into school 3 out of 4 days/week this semester. I'm happy!
This weekend
- mark 18 papers/Fri
- write 2 letters/Fri
- mark 10 papers/Sat
- see A/Sat
- back up computer/Sun
- Shitepile/Sun - rearrange serving dishes/Sun - bottle bank/Sun
I suddenly realized I hadn't Shitepiled in ages. Oops! All caught up now.

I haven't mentioned this, but we have another project ... redoing one of our 1BR rentals that has not been touched in literally 50 years (since 1970). The apartment is so old and decrepit that we hired an interior architect (one of DS2's friends). It's small but in a great location. We bought it AGES ago for retirement income "later". "Later" is now, but it needs to be completely redone.
Of course redoing it is much more expensive than we thought. We'll use some of the proceeds from that studio, but we'll also need to take out a loan. We don't have the exact numbers yet.
Hopefully we can rent it out in January, but it may take longer.

Paris has just shifted up to the next level. Higher education will have only half the students on campus at any time. I can only hope that there is a balance between my two jobs so I can alternate 2 days/week face-to-face for one and 2 days/week face-to-face for the other, rather than being on the same schedule for both (ie 4 days/week face-to-face and then 4 days/week on Zoom). Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow. This is all SO stressful.

I hope you find out your schedule soon debt.
I dusted and swept in the living room so we can put out Halloween decorations. I cleaned the windows and relocated a bunch of stuff off the ledge behind the couch.
It's a dumping ground for things we don't know what to do with. However, it's also the ceiling to the half bath and entry way closet so I can't just get rid of it.
I added a pile of previously culled clothing items to the Goodwill box. Hopefully it's accepted. I've heard conflicting reports on the community Facebook page.
I was looking for all the Halloween food network magazines to review and pull keepers. I found 18 issues of magazine titles I thought I'd purged. I guess I thought that crate was all food network. Those are in the recycle bin.
I tossed 2 worn out pairs of flip flops and a trio of stick up battery operated lights. Not bad for 90 minutes worth of effort when i didn't want to.

Veterans of America coming tomorrow to pick up. We'll have 4 boxes and bags of Stuff for them to take away. This is easy this time--as suggested here by Knee Deep in Water Chloe, I think, I've had a box upstairs and down to chuck things into as I encounter them. So the accumulation is ready to go and we'll be free of two large bags of clothing and two boxes of miscellany. About 50 items altogether. Got an email yesterday from the Board of Elections recruiter begging for people who have gotten training to sign up to work as election judges during early voting. Apparently they're really short. I'd already signed up and given my availability as pretty much the entire week. But I didn't expect to actually be scheduled for all those days! Now it looks like I will. Email also said we're being paid an extra $100/day for working during COVID-19. Still not enough to do this for the money, but it's nice.

Hang in there debthaven! The constant changes are exhausting, aren't they? We just found out our DN's college roommate has tested positive for COVID. His college fortunately has a plan for dealing with students who test positive, or may have been exposed, but it's still stressful, especially for his Mom & Dad back home. I've been going thru paperwork, & trying to get rid of more unnecessary paperwork. Garbage day is tomorrow, so that's incentive to try & get rid of just a bit more.

My new front patio is going in today. I heard loud noises at 7 AM. That is what is happening.

DH took the box to Goodwill. 48 more items are out of the house. COVID definitely slowed down the decluttering process with nowhere to take stuff. When they did reopen, the lines were wrapped around the building. They closed several times for volume of donations and once for a remodel.
We also found a spot for the two Hershey's lego sets. The previous homeowners left a shelf above the closet in the room DH uses for his clothes.

I’m working on some projects in the kitchen today! Under cabinet lighting because one overhead light is too weak when I’m cooking and it’s so good to have flexible LED strips to go around the cabinets.
Then I added another organizer to my utensil drawer and cleaned that up, moved around the coffee, tea and cups and started a basket for my bar cart.
I will use the bar cart for coffee when it arrives and have a little station in the living room to free up counter space. I don’t actually drink coffee daily so it’ll be nice to have it in one place and out of my way.
Today I need to do a second coat of paint on the fireplace and that should be mostly done! New rug arrives soon and then I’ll just need an office chair.

What a fantastic weekend! I was able to spend a lot of time relaxing on the upper deck. It's hazy here from the CA wildfires, but I didn't let that stop me. Looks like y'all were productive, too! First I focused on under the sinks. I put under my bathroom sink random items into a shower caddy I never use. Was tired of polish remover, baby powder, etc. tipping over. Out from under the laundry sink a few things were tossed, clothespins went into a clean, empty pickle jar and placed on the shelf where the w/d manual was (I've seen a similar cute idea on HGTV, not that I use clothespins, lol). The manual is now stashed under the sink. Laundry product refills are now under there as well. My old 80's Caboodle (yes, I know) was removed, emptied and contents dispersed to the garage, the not junk drawer, or garbage can. It was given a bath and air dried, and will be used to house jewelry. Again, no new organizers necessary. I can now honestly say my house has been gone through down to the last screw and nail. Oh, one of the items was my old, OLD flip phone which was successfully charged and confirmed there are photos on it that need to be transferred elsewhere. Milestone birthday party pictures? Yes, please! I ran a vinegar only cycle, then a hot water baking soda flush in the dishwasher.
After several months, I finally remembered to ask DH to use the air hose to blow out the dust from the air intake of my hair dryer. Works much better. The rear pilot light on our gas stove kept going out (woke up to a propane smell Saturday morning). I thought I had cleaned the cap set thoroughly last month. Nope. So, it's been soaking in a product a friend recommended earlier this summer called Amazing. It's available at Dollar Tree. And it's effective. You can imagine the water. About 7 items were tossed from my bathroom top drawer including a few expired unopened contacts and caps from electric toothbrush heads.
Winterized the lower deck: Put away chair cushions and arranged the furniture into a pile so DH could place a tarp over everything. Boiled and peeled eggs, prepared produce, and menu planned for the next two weeks. Next up: Clean and decorate for our annual upcoming Halloween party. ETA: I just Googled Caboodle, and it looks like they are a hot ebay ticket item, LOL! Mine is this color scheme:

I was wondering what a Caboodle was lol.
Job 1 is on Zoom all week. They say they will only tell us one week at a time. So 3/4 days on Zoom this week, which is a lot. Job 2 isn't affected by the new measures.

The old, sun-faded curtains that hung at the old living room window are in today's trash. No need to keep them.

I am very thankful for this thread. I was trying to get all my receipts together and I had a date I couldn't remember. I was able to look at my posts and texts with my DH.
We have already started the next box for Goodwill. I looked at last year's totals and we are definitely lower this year.
The cardboard/paper recycle bin is going to be heavy this week. I found some more magazines upstairs. Stashed away when guests were coming for sure.
I need to replace curtains in the two spare bedrooms and donate the extras.

I had a Caboodle i sold on FB yard sale last summer, for like $5. oops 🤣 mine was pink and purple.
today I listed the twin trundle bed and my dining room set on FB yard sale. one is in the finished basement, the other in the shed. both are disassembled, and listed for pickup. neither has a space in this new house, time to go.
today I also threw out the two pillows I used in the rental this summer, they had been in the shed. trash pickup was today, so they are the first things in the empty barrel for next week. I'm probably going to have to cut up the foam topper in order to get that to fit and still have room for actual trash bags in there. ugh.
inside the house, I've gone through two boxes of "misc paperwork" and separated for fire pit and filing when I unearth my file cabinet. hoping to get the office cleared out and set up so I can be productive tomorrow. I took a mental health day today to get my head screwed on straight again now that all the plumbing seems to be all set.

My new patio has been poured and the footings removed. It looks very nice. He curved it where it meets the grass.
I don't care what my neighbor thinks. She doesn't get a vote.
Now they have to do the landscape fabric and rock. I am guessing they are waiting for the cement to cure.

I am making good progress on the mess of boxes in the entry way. I had 2 bins of “random” which I couldn’t put away until I found them a home - today I got that down to one bin. There’s enough space on the kitchen table to organize my journals and paperwork, I am trying to unearth the foot chest so I can get my quilts out.
Since watching the Home Edit on Netflix I am embracing the idea of “backstock” and moving a bunch of stuff upstairs into a side room. Some things are nice and new for the second floor bathroom and mini kitchen and others are just overflow from downstairs.
I also cleaned up the backyard a bit before putting the trash out tonight. Next to the shed there’s a junk pile of leaves, cement, broken bricks and trash. I was able to throw away an old cushion and 3 bike tires as well as some pillow fluff which I keep unearthing.
The random cement pieces and rocks are lining the fence so my dogs don’t dig under and I am setting all the bricks near the garage so I can make a mosaic patio This week my hammock arrives and I’ll set that up to enjoy during the nice fall days!
I’ve got my birthday trip all mapped out and it’s my goal to explore some of these small towns and find cute places to shop and eat and stay. It’ll be good to have the dogs in the kennel so they don’t wake me up to pee at 5am!

The two walk-through gates are in But now the original fence looks ridiculous 🤦🏻♀️ You can see that the house is in the middle of being painted. The second gate is next to the garage will be painted also. Now I’m shocked at how dingy the green paint looks!

Today must have been gate day. They guys came today and cemented in the posts for my gates. They will return next Monday and hang the gates. I went with chain link and it will have 98% privacy slats installed. I decided on chain link because it won't rot, I won't have to re-nail boards on down the road etc.

Chiver couldn't you use the trundle bed in a guest room? Chloe the house and gates look fabulous! Love the color! Sharon good luck with the gate! We're getting a new one soon too ... ours is falling apart. It should be installed by the end of the month. Startsmart have a wonderful birthday trip! (not sure when it is) TheO enjoy the patio! Love the fact that your neighbor thinks she has a say in it lol. Wednesdays used to be my easy day ... now they're my longest/hardest day. I am exhausted. Started a load of darks when I got home. DH did the lights today.

debthaven - I kept the full mattress and box spring I had gotten from my sister for staging the last house. apparently I had the story a little wrong as to how she came to have it. long story short, I'd had zero intention of letting anyone actually sleep on it, but she set me straight on that. the 3rd bedroom in this new house is quite small, and needs to accommodate my home office. there wasn't any configuration where a trundle and a desk would fit comfortably. it's fine, I've got a queen air mattress, and there will be a huge sectional in the basement as well. plenty of space for guests
