Is there something in the air, snapdragon? We've hit a snag on the sale of our house, too. The mortgage company used an appraisal company from outside the area, and they appraised the house much too low. We can't lower the price, as we've already given the buyer a break on closing costs, so not sure what'll happen next. It is what it is. If they can't get a different mortgage company, or different appraiser, the deal may fall through.

Window company called bright and early. The crack is definitely covered under warranty. Only the glass has to be replaced. Problem is that it's a triple pane glass in the window and I do not know for certain which pane it is.
That means somebody has to come out and determine that--and show me how to take the window apart so I can clean them in the future.
Then the replacement pane will be ordered and will arrive in about 3 weeks.

I so understand the wait, hurry up we have to do this, and sign this at lightening speed and than it's wait on whatever. So nuts and really annoyed that I spent most of September expecting it to be in someone elses hands by the end of the month. So kinda annoyed and bummed and I don't want to think too hard on the financial aspect of this whole thing. That would make me cry I believe.

The shelves are finally installed and I’m loading up the books. It’s very clear that I have too many books for this one space 🤣 I am thinking that one of the upstairs bedrooms will have a reading wall so I can move some of the series up there in a few months.
For now I need to finish painting the office, organize all the office supplies and fabric (if it’ll fit in there) and decide how to organize the family photos.
Another busy week with client projects and then I can focus on my birthday trip 😃

even this Grandma could figure out that it was dinner time when he brought me his bib and started pushing the high chair up to the table. That just cracked me up Sharon !!! So cute! Oh no snapdragon ! I'm so sorry. I hope you will find another, more reliable buyer very soon! Oh no busymom ! I hope you can close. I think a lot of buyers are taking advantage of the pandemic to change their minds/ lowball. This week- bottle bank (DH)/Mon- mail absentee ballot DH kindly took my ballot to the PO, which closes at 6. He arrived at 6.02, and didn't understand why they refused to let him in. Since DH was doing me a favor, I didn't tell him that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. DH said, BUT WHERE IS THEIR SENSE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE?! I said, I bet THAT closed at 5.45! So either DH will go back tomorrow, or I'll go on Thurs.

Wishing you good house sale juju, busymom and snapdragon. My DD sold her house 3 weeks ago, for well over list price, and it appraised for the offer price. They did have to delay the closing for one week due to the HOA not getting documents to the title company in time.

debthaven I used to ride the bus with a blind woman who used a service dog. It was amazing to watch their relationship and how the dog was in charge. I could also feel the love between the woman and the dog. It's amazing to see how the service dogs help people live better lives.

Feeling very lethargic today (must be the rain!) and have 3 more hours of work ahead of me. Then perhaps I’ll get back to painting. Or sleep. It’s a toss up.

Had to leave work early yesterday due to a migraine but was 100% today and was able to get started on cleaning up MY desk. The previous occupant was asked to leave at the beginning of the month and they didn't really straighten a whole lot in their folder, uh, system. There was a "To Do" folder with email printouts from 2019 in it. I also started a "To Buy" list of office supplies. My boss writes all his folder labels. I prefer very legible labels. So much to do and it's gonna fun. Seriously. I love a good clean-up.

Today after work I managed to get the lawn mowed, the raspberries cut back for the winter, the hanging baskets dumped into the yard debris bin, and some of the lawn furniture put into the garage. It is supposed to be rainy and windy over the next few days so wanted to get outside while I could.

The painting company came out yesterday to give us an estimate for our house and garage. I'm a bit sticker-shocked, but DH says that includes replacing boards and shingles that have deteriorated. Now I need to narrow down the color palette.

I've been spending more time organizing and decluttering at work than at home. I FINALLY got the office job that I've been waiting for. It's a newly imagined position that was meant to go into effect and then Covid hit. I'm still tweaking my workspace to be as efficient as possible. Luckily I have carte blanche to buy what I need and do what I want so I'm comfortable. I'm actually finding it hard to be at a desk for most of the day but my feet are better for it. We are picking away at the home projects. I need to get motivated to finish scraping the ceiling in the spare room. Other than plastering and painting that's all that needs to be done in that room. We aren't replacing the floor in there because eventually it will be a bathroom. For now it will be a big closet when we're done repurposing the bedrooms. I think it was originally a nursery or sewing room. It's accessed by going through another bedroom. The big project is tearing down and replacing the ceiling in our current bedroom. So much heavy horsehair plaster to lug down the stairs and to the dumpster! DD, L, their 2 housemates and all their significant others are planning on helping for which I am grateful. Also it turns out that I'm not strong enough to rip up the old floorboards so that falls entirely on DH's shoulders. I'll try to get the boyfriends to pull boards if they don't die of exhaustion removing the ceiling. The outdoor painting was pushed back a couple of weeks. I'm hoping that same people can do the plastering and I need them to assess the ceiling in the third bedroom and tell me whether I need to scrape that one down to the original plaster. It was a no brainer with the other two but that one might be fine with just a skim coat of plaster. The others clearly needed a do over. For the most part I've maintained the downstairs if not to company level, at least to a clean if somewhat disheveled appearance. This is the first time in years I've worked 5 day, 40 hour weeks. It's also the first time having a Monday-Friday 8-4 schedule. So different from the rest of my working life!

DH assembled the new shoe rack while I made dinner. The second one to stack had to be ordered. I need to get it in place today.
I desperately miss my half bath on the first floor. Especially since I work from home. I don't get that back until the new steps go in from entry to main first floor. They should be done. They were dropped off to be stained several weeks ago. Then the floor can go down and the bathroom fixtures can be put in. I still need to pick paint for that room. And a towel rack and toilet paper holder. The new vanity is in my basement.
The flooring should be delivered by the end of the month.
I gathered up all of my holiday and themed cake pans and put them in one big container. They never get used because they are shoved all over the kitchen and I can't remember what I have. I would like to change that. I put the fall ones on top.
The second set of shelves to extend the pantry downstairs is working well. DH wants another set. I said next month. I know myself if I put it up on a shelf, I'm never going to sort through it.

What shoe rack did you get? A cheap plastic one I had for my DH just broke. I may do a whole new thing.

I swung by Dad's house last night and I grabbed a few things to take to storage. I also picked up and vacuumed the whole house and made sure the thermostat was at a good temp. We have rain coming in for the next few days and I don't want the house to be too cold.
Of course I left the phone in the car, noticed that the neighbors had phoned me but didn't check until I got home --- The backyard light has been on for the last few days. I will go back later this week and check the light and pick up some more things for storage. Little bits and bobs. Plus this gives me time to work on packing boxes for sell/donation and easier moving.

Been on a tidying streak this morning starting in my closet. Dresses are now hung up high so they don’t pool on the floor, snorkeling equipment is hidden away (Kansas has few snorkeling spots lol) and I am sorting the sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers trying to get everything organized.
Still folding and putting away laundry from Sunday but taking this opportunity to decide what I can donate or toss. Already threw out 5 pieces of clothing and 2 pair of shoes - a number more will be donated.
I may attempt to move in the big media center I bought weeks ago which is super awkward and heavy to move. It would be nice to set up a TV and to get all my DVDs put away.

The window tech came today. It is not a crack in my window. It's "sealant string". He took the window apart and peeled off some of the string off and said I'd have to do the rest. I told him I don't know how to put the window back up. He proceeded to tell me how to do it and left.
I am not a DIY person at all. I cleaned up the window and tried to put the window back in. I had no idea of what I was doing. So I called the place where I bought them. She told me she would call him and have him come back as I was his last stop. A few minutes later she called and said he was 10 minutes away and not happy about having to come back.
He came and had lots of attitude. First he called me and said I just showed you how to do it. Showing me does not help me. I need to do it not have somebody try to tell me over the phone when I don't know what I am doing. The attitude did not get better but the window is back together.
Now I am going to call the place where I bought the window to tell her of his attitude.

Talked to the place where I bought the windows. I am satisfied. She knew he had an attitude. I was his last stop and he was 10 minutes away from me. If he hadn't hurried and told me what to do instead of showing me what to do, he would not have had to come back.
She will let his supervisor know and she said she also will tell them he had an attitude with her. I told her I did not want him coming back to my home.

Finally caught up! Happy belated birthday, Sharon! Happy early birthday, startsmart! And I love an organized closet. And yay for installed shelves! Congratulations on the job, Malarky! Nice shoe rack, wvugurl26. Glad you have more storage options in the basement. Sorry about the window and the rude tech, TheOtherMe. While on a long layover Sunday afternoon, I took the time to do some digital clearing. Inspired by a book I just finished by Nicole Lapin, Becoming Super Woman, I went hard core. I removed a few aps from my phone, organized the ones left into folders, and now have just one screen instead of two to swipe between. I then went to Facebook and removed myself from numerous groups. I started to unlike a bunch of pages, but that task seems tedious to conduct from a cell phone. I made a promise to myself to stay off social media as much as possible, and have been sticking to it. Between the latter and having 5 days away, life is much more calm.

OMG TheOtherMe that's just disgraceful!!! I'm sure you spent a fortune on those windows and you definitely should have had better service! I'm glad you complained! If you wanted to install the windows yourself, you would have just purchased them! Glad you're simplifying life Iggy aka IG ! Covid rates continue to worsen here ... the Paris area is under new restrictions, but nothing that affects us personally. School is still 100% in person for me. I have three more rough weeks after this week. I'd be very happy for a few days online. Then both schools have a week off ... sadly for me, on different weeks.

I booked the dogs into the kennel for my bday trip. Not 100% sure where I’m going yet but I have a few ideas.
I did move in the large entertainment center today... and dropped it on my toe. It’s bloody and painful but not broken so even though my knees have almost healed from falling now I’ve got this to deal with!
The house overall does look better and I hung one of my giant canvases but dang it my toe hurts.
Tomorrow I need to hang the large mirror and move a bunch of artwork and boxes upstairs.
