This has always blown my mind when people do this. Right! I mean, you were just raving about it and now that you know what it is, it's gross? Thing 1 had a friend that lived with us for a while. One day I had this really good burger and asked her if she wanted to try it. She did and said it was good. I said "you couldn't even tell it's buffalo, huh?" The immediately spit the burger out and declared it gross. She just said it was good! Well, if I went to Indonesia or China and was eating a tasty dish, only to find out it's puppies I'm eating, I'd spit it out.

I think it is the same thing and hypocritical to condemn one but not the other. We are carnivores (most of us) and an animal is an animal. A pig is as cute as a dog and we eat pork all the time. I don't think about it too much or I'd have to become a vegetarian and I really like meat.

Do they eat puppies in China and Indonesia? I have a friend who lived/worked in China for a while and he never mentioned eating puppies so just curious. May have to give him a shout out and ask. He's been gone so long he would probably tell the truth at this stage in time.

He's been gone so long he would probably tell the truth at this stage in time. They do. In culinary terms, dog meat is normally blanched or soaked before cooking to dispel the earthier, heavier aspects of its flavour. It is then, typically, made into slow-cooked soups and stews seasoned with ginger, spring onion, rice wine and spices, although it may also be roasted, or served cold as an appetiser. The tender meat of puppies is favoured over that of older dogs.www.bbc.com/news/magazine-33283694

So your disgust is only because you are use to thinking of dogs as pets. Once you are a carnivore you have no room to judge people for the animals they eat. Excluding people, even I draw the line at cannibalism

Why is it so hard to understand that the designation of livestock and fido is completely arbitrary, a man made distinction and not all people categorise them the same. China calls fido livestock and that's just as legit as calling a cow livestock.

The funniest thing is that you would be on the opposite side of this discussion if you were talking to Chapeau's husband about eating squid. He'd be telling you how there's a difference between eating fish and eating slugs and you'd be saying no there's not, and you were just enjoying it. If you were enjoying eating the dog stew before you knew, the problem is all in your head. Just like it's all in his head. And you get frustrated with him doing it.

I have to not think too much about it whenever I eat any kind of meat. It's all disgusting if you think too hard about it.

I'm at another hotel in another town tonight and will be here through Tuesday morning. I've been traveling so much this week that I've completely gone off track on both exercise and eating. That's not a good excuse--I own that.
I did bring my running shoes, so I can go on the treadmill while here. I am going to do my planks routine tonight and Tuesday morning. I'm writing it here to hold myself accountable.
Even with all of the time in the car, my back is not too bad; I'm appreciative.
I do hope we continue the ketogenic food choices discussion in this thread. I'm also wondering if we can add a Mediterranean diet discussion. Or any other discussion about food. I have a horrible relationship with food including a problem of very few boundaries--and I don't think the fact that I don't like my food to touch is a boundary that contributes to healthy eating choices.

Weekly check in
Steps - hit goal by over 3000. Keeping this goal at 75000 for the week.
Strength exercise goal 2 days actual 1. Keeping goal at 2 days.
Food - goal not snacking after 9:00. Did not happen. This week I think I am going to track the number of days this happens.
Weight - down about a pound since beginning of year.
Have a great week everyone.

I did okay with hitting my goals last week. Especially considering I have a cold I can't shake and haven't breathed through my nose regularly or slept through the night without having to wake up and drink a ton of water to soothe my poor throat from breathing through my mouth. Wow, sorry for that run-on sentence. Anyhoo…
Did 3 days of the step - only 15 minutes each, but I raised it to 10" Planks every day - up to 1:51 regular and :35 each side Didn't do arm weights even once
This week: 3 days step - try to increase time to 20 minutes each Continue daily planks 3 days arm weights

Also laterbloomer I mentioned this in another thread, but if you're watching carbs and using artificial sweeteners, the packets of Equal, Sweet & Low, etc. have 0.9 carbs each, the liquid artificial sweeteners in the squeeze bottles are 0 carb.

I'm pescetarian and have a very bastardized Mediterranean-style diet (because hello love of burritos and pizza!). I eat fish (mainly salmon) once a week, cook with EVOO (only use butter for baking), and eat a lot of legumes and grains. Plus fruits and veggies. I haven't eaten red meat, poultry, or pork in 22 years. Some of my favorite meals are centered around lentils, chickpeas, or quinoa.

And I made quite clear that I was referring to the type of animal being consumed. You can feel free to disagree with me if you would like. I really DGAF. There are people on this board who's opinions I value. You are not one of them. What you're doing is trying to nitpick what I said because you have nothing better to do with your miserable life. You do it to everyone all the time and I'm done engaging with you. Have all the opinions you want. I quite frankly don't give a shit what they are.

Anyway. Gym day #1 for me. I said I was going to add in a 5th gym day, but I didn't this weekend as it snowed several inches. I did get some exercise in shoveling though. So I guess that counts for something.

I walked on treadmill Saturday and Sunday - 30 minutes, hills at a 3.7 pace. I hold 2 lb weights also. Did separate arm weights Sunday, will do those 3 more times this week. I will walk Monday, Wednesday, Thursday take Tuesday, Friday off.
Eating - ugh. I'm trying, unsuccessfully, to watch what I eat and how much. But I'm hungry.
