I'm trying to understand this report. According to this report that I found on the NCIS site they only denied 25,825 Unlawful Aliens. Since I assume they would deny all Unlawful Aliens, where does the 7 million number come from? Federal DenialsExactly, the 7 to 8 mil number has nothing to do with attempted gun purchases. It is the TOTAL number of background checks done by NICS since 1998. The "article" (that was never linked by the OP) was a lie and they even added a correction to it but still left the original lying title. (see my reply #9) |

I hate to seem stupid but I'm still not clear exactly what the 7 million is about. I read the link but I don't know exactly what it means. Is that just the number of undocumented folks they know about that are barred from buying a hand gun or did those people actually apply. It does seem really strange that that many people would apply knowing they would be denied. It's like the 1900 fugitives from justice listed. Does that seriously mean 1900 fugitives from justice are putting themselves through a background check by trying to buy a gun? Doesn't that tigger them being found by justice?

i am unclear on why "illegals" would even bother buying a gun, particularly in greater numbers than US citizens. anyone care to help me out with that?
It's possible they would be inclined, due to the conditions they were escaping. Just going by the hell hole descriptions etc. Actually? I doubt very many illegals would attempt to legally buy a gun, for the exact reason of the background check. They're usually trying to avoid contact with US government authority. i guess i am wondering why they would attempt to buy a gun at all. most of the workers i see around here are basically homeless. i am guessing that gun ownership among the homeless is quite low. but i am speculating. you are too, tho.
