Also, for the record, it didn’t hurt at all. Now I just have to wait until everything heals up. Just make sure to follow the care instructions the tattoo artist gave you! Makes a big difference in healing. And expect it to itch really bad for a bit.

Any swelling and redness has gone away overnight. I guess all I get to look forward to now is the itching 🙂. So far so good. I also take Benadryl on a daily basis, so maybe that will help.

I knew it! As soon as I saw this thread and the original date, I knew you were posting with news of the next tat. Now you're an addict.
Whatcha gonna do for your next one?
I've got a butterfly and roses on my leg and Jiminy Cricket playing a violin on my arm...they're both small. What's the significance? It reminded me of a Moody Blues song called "Nice to be Here" with a mouse playing a daffodil.
I know you won't believe me
But I'm certain that I did see
A mouse playing daffodil
All the band was really jumping
With Jack Rabbit in there thumping
I found that I couldn't sit still
Have a male friend who's of small stature, maybe 5'2". One day he got a wild notion that he needed a tattoo and had his entire chest covered with a Superman logo. It's so big that it took two days. Gotta wonder if his wife will even be seen with him on the beach. Ew.

I need to go back in a few weeks so he can finish up some of the shading. I’m going to keep it black, but the artist feels it will look better with at least some color in the cross.
This one sums up my life in a nutshell, two things that inspire me 🙂

That's my treat to myself for forcing my 5th type of cancer into remission and lose some weight. If I survive 2 more years and lose 35 lbs, I'm getting one! Oh, I'll be over 50 too.....
DH is horrified. But he's that way a lot about me. 🤣

I've always wanted one - long before they were cool (back when sailors and criminals were the main demographic) but have never thought of anything that I would want on my body forever. Never really saw a design that touched me. I am also kinda glad I didn't push through and get one when I was 23, because it would be weird shaped after a couple of pregnancies. Lol.
However, I saw a few that related to travel, and "forever" isn't nearly as long as it used to be. I asked my husband if he would consider one that correlates, and he got kinda excited. I'm considering one that can be added to as we go additional places. But i haven't settled yet.

... Never really saw a design that touched me. ... Find a tattoo artist, not a technician, and work with them to design something that does touch you.

Now that I have an concept, I could talk to someone about it and not make a total ass of myself. Walking in and saying "oh.....I don't know....I like the color green, but not a dark green, and not really teal, but I don't know what I want on my body............" Maybe someone truly patient would not punch me, but most people would probably tell me to narrow it down to 4 or 5 topics and then come back.

I won't get one. My late SIL borrowed Sons of Anarchy "A" then put his initials backward next to it. Then he mouthed off that that was his serial killer symbol so the police could figure it out. His grieved kids were parroting it.
The family got the design tattooed after he died.
I thought it was uncool then stupid and his remarks a warning.

Most would probably send you to the internet to get some ideas. If you google “something” tattoo you will find hundreds of images to get you thinking. I’ve always had ideas in my head and just finally decided if I didn’t do it at 50, I never would.

I got my designs off Pinterest. I had the concept but I'm not a good visual artist.
Two of my tattoos are a combination of more than one design. I brought in the pictures, described my limited vision and the artist put it together
Both look way better than they did in my head.
The third is straight off Pinterest. It was inspired by our trip to Colorado. It's a piece of rose quartz with lavender. I am impressed with the skill it took the artist every time I look at it

I'm sure you can say I didn't want it bad enough.

I've wanted one since I was 18 but only got around to it at 35.
Glad I waited. If I'd been motivated enough back then it would have ended up being something that permanently dated me like a ying yang, hummingbird or turtle.
Cause that's what everyone did back then or a butterfly.
Much more conscious now of what I'd like to look at for the rest of my life.

I’m eventually going to,get one or two more.
Right now I have the Pisces symbol on my left shoulder, with a dolphin on each side and my kids names incorporated
next I’m getting a manatee on my other shoulder. Manatees are my soul animal. They’re kinda lumpy, like to float around in warm water while snacking, but can move really quickly when they need to.
My other idea is lady justice except she’s not blindfolded. Her scales are also uneven, one side weighed down with money. Justice isn’t blind, and money matters.

Along the lines of body art, maybe, does anyone have an eyebrow piercing and where should one get it done? I know tattoo studios will do them but I didn't know if going to Claire's or whatever works just as well? I want the eyebrow piercing AND a tattoo. Tat will have to wait until I'm under 200 pounds for longer than an hour. Then I'm getting bands of bear heads. A black bear, a polar bear, a panda and Winnie the Pooh. I was thinking of them for upper arm bands but maybe I'll do them as bracelets and/or anklets. I have a stupid high pain tolerance and enough fat to cushion it.

DO NOT go to Claire's. First I don't believe they are authorized to do body piercings, second they use piercing guns which are bad, third their products are cheap which can lead to allergic reaction/infection. You want it done by a professional who will use a hollow needle and carries the proper piercings. A reputable tattoo parlor is where you want to go. Ask questions about sanitation and ask to see a portfolio before you let them touch you.

I just want to add that I never found tattoos extremely painful. I’m sure it depends when you get it and the amount of cushion you have, but I also think it depends on how skilled your artist is, too much pen pressure will hurt more, not enough and it won’t turn out well and take longer.
Mine also cautioned against too much alcohol, aspirin, or energy drinks (caffeine), he said those will increase bleeding during your time in the chair.
They’re not for everyone, but anyone who knows me considers me very conservative, but I still love my tattoos. How else will they be able to identify me when I die in a horrible blender accident?

I was told it depends on where you get it. Areas where skin is thinner tend to hurt more than areas where skin is thicker. Which makes sense.

Which makes sense. or near nerves, too. mine is simple script across the top of my foot, and I would never have expected there to be as much sensitivity there as there is. my artist had to stop twice during a flair line, to peel me off the ceiling. remembering that, I think I'm set with the one I have.

What fun! I would need to add Baloo from Jungle Book, Boo Boo and Fozzie.
