We have something here that we did not have on the old, going to be forgotten quickly zone I believe. A way to communicate privately , away from the hub and bub of the regular posters who really aren't interested in the back and forth BS, especially decisions by a Moderator. I suggest , use it , work it out and let the rest of us get on with what ever we are getting on with . Otherwise everyone is going to be jumping in here as i started to do with my two cents that are really worth less the a cent. Comprendi?
PS Possible you haven't noticed, wea re all ready soaring, high as one can be in a very short time with no help from you. Just thought I would point that out.

What in Sam Hill has been going on here? Has Mr. Stay Put been defamed in posting cold hard truths about the US education "system" and any other number of deficiencies in what was once a great country? A complete outrage that will not go unnoticed or unchallenged. Complete disgrace.

"...cold hard truths..." We have more accurate data on what the education system is doing and not doing than ever before. We have increased the percentage of the population we expect to educate to an increased level. A large part of the "problem" is due to the faulty memories of those who talk about, "Back when I was in school ...".

How hard is it to fire an incompetent teacher? In California? Get back to me when you have the answer.

It seems that homosexuality has always been a part of the military dating back to at least ancient Greek and Roman times. A prime example is the Sacred Band of Thebes organized by the Theban Commander Gorgidus 378 BC. They played a key role in the Battle of Leuctra. In those times it was believed if the men on the battle field were lovers than surely the soldiers would fight twice as hard to defend each other in battle. I believe that if someone is willing to put their lives on the line to defend their country who are we to place judgment on their choice of lifestyle or dictate whether or not they can join the Special Forces? I think I love you, ma'am. (Just kidding, I'm married anyways.) ;D Madison IMHO is the greatest American other than Washington to have served this great nation. If you haven't been to Montpelier, do yourself a favor and go. $24 million later, they have renovated it to the time when he retired.

LOL I was offered a trip there about 3 mths ago but unfortunantly had to decline. Its my understanding that Montpelier almost has a mystical quality to it. With any luck I may make it up there yet.

I accidentally found myself there in October. It had been 10 years since I was there, when the duPonts' nasty stucco was all over the East (West?) wing. It is stunning now.

Hey, I believe I have been there. Pennsylvania, correct? My good sir, don't confuse Pennsylvania with Orange, VA. That is like comparing the beaches of Biloxi, MS to Miami.

How hard is it to fire an incompetent teacher? In California? Get back to me when you have the answer. Almost impossible. Why? Because of the power, money, and political influence that the California State Teachers Union has over the California State Liberal Legislators in Sacramento...however there are of course exception for child abuse, selling drugs, and theft..

Heck, Jefferson had a bed for Dolley and James because they often visited. It is IMHO the most beautiful place on Earth. Stand on the front steps of Montpelier and you will see why his daddy built there. ;D

Mr. Burns. Just 58 more posts and you will be a full member. A man of your verbose nature (law) should easily meet the cirteria within a day or so. I know that we can count on you sir. "New Member" status just doesn't seem to fit a man of your stature and all.

Dolly and James now thats a dynamic duo. Quite the love story from my understanding. Indeed, I love her almost as much as him. There are beautiful statues of them, with him sitting and reading and her hand on his shoulder, in the back of the house. Strong woman indeed. Our first de facto female POTUS when he almost died during the War of 1812.

Really do you recall the name of the statue or the artist? I am quite fond of fine art and that happens to be a subject near and dear to my heart.

I stand corrected Mr. traelin0. I went wrong when you mentioned Dupont. That was where I was in Pennsylvania. The old factory.

Is that so Ms. madisongirl? I have quite the collection of Group of Seven paintings (famous Canadian artists I'm sure you know) and it would be my pleasure to give you the full tour.

Mr. Stay Put, you are of course correct but it still flatters me nonetheless. My existence here is day to day. At any time it could end, or mutate into an even more explosive form. It is not something that I would even attempt to predict.
