First, there were seven likes to that post, not nine. There were nine originally. I can count. The security log doesn't track 'likes' and un-likes, so I can't tell who the culprits are, but obviously somebodies are conducting a little historical revision. "Taking things out of context" only begins to describe this.... The context is right there, in the link I posted. And it doesn't change the fact that there were 9 big likes by members who don't want their taxes paying for mudhole third world countries, which they clearly don't mind calling mudhole countries. Virgil, you're a very smart person.
I know you know the difference between 'should we send a bunch of money to prop up failing third world countries when we have a lot of homeless and hungry people in our own country' vs 'should we block immigrants from Africa and Haiti while trying to recruit Norwegian immigrants?'

Lying trump is blaming Obama for the bad new embassy. But it was the Bush administration who approved the new location and building. "On October 8, 2008, the embassy announced a conditional agreement with the real estate developer Ballymore to purchase property for a new embassy site on the south bank of the River Thames in the Nine Elms area of the London Borough of Wandsworth.[17] The site lies within the Vauxhall/Nine Elms/Battersea Opportunity Area as set out in the London Plan. The proposed plan would only go forward if approved by the United States Congress and by the local planning authority.[18] The Northern line extension to Battersea will have new stations at Battersea and Nine Elms—combined with major local development. The United States Department of State announced in January 2009 that it was choosing among nine architectural firms, all "modern" and "upmarket", to replace the ageing embassy headquarters.[19] In March 2009 the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations announced that four architectural firms had been selected for the final phase of the design competition.[19] By law, the architect for a U.S. embassy must be an American firm with "numerous security clearances".[19]" Embassy of the United States, LondonApparently Trump was offended that the Americans moved their embassy out of a 'lovely old building on prime real estate' into an out of the way location.
The new embassy is heavily re-enforced, set back 100 feet from the street and with living quarters for the Marines who guard it. I would imagine the Marines are happy with the new digs, since they are the ones who have to defend it from terrorist attacks (since London has been known to have one or two of those in the past.)
But Trump doesn't know the difference between siting a hotel and siting an embassy and of course, has to stoop to fling mud once more at Obama without checking the facts, because that requires effort.
The REAL reason the trip got cancelled is the Brits are afraid of the rioting it would cause, and we all know Trump hates to go anyplace where cheering crowds chanting 'lock her up' aren't present.
Yea. It was the anti-trump riots he feared. Not like at this Bentonville, Arkansas 2016 rally:

Not shocking that the Racist-in-Chief would say disgusting racist stuff.
He was a doddering old racist when he was elected, and he's a doddering old racist now. Thankfully, this country can demonstrate that he sucks as a human being and should have his power stripped in 2020 (and in part this year at the mid-terms).
My larger concern is the GOP establishment that who are cool with Trump's racist, ignorant, and misinformed remarks. Most of them are complicit, and to be honest, I find them far more disgusting. At least with Trump we got what was advertised. I may hate that half the country are totally cool with a misogynist racist asshole, but at least we knew what we were getting.

You have to be complicit if you hope to bring in the Trumpite vote. If that sticks in your craw, you have to retire and let a real Trumpite run in your place.
Let's hope they are all of the same caliper as Roy Moore.

trump is apparently going to "help" some GOP person running in Pennsylvania. Curious to see how that plays out.

I also know posters don't 'like' a post if they deeply object to anything in it, especially if its a statement of opinion. Nobody wants their name attached to something offensive. Plus, search for permutations of the term Pres. Trump used and you'll find many prominent members using the very same language.

Not like at this Bentonville, Arkansas 2016 rally: If it is a bit out of the way..I believe I read that they are building two Subway stops at or near the building...also, decision to move back in 2008 was made for security reasons...even then this was a concern and as far as cost..since when has anything the US built or developed come in under budget or were costs really a great concern...plus since security is such a concern now I would expect a hugh many $ of this construction is dedicated to that aspect of the buildings cost.

All of which is irrelevant, since none of those posters are POTUS. This isn't about some random person calling another country a shit hole. It's about the POTUS doing it. Why is this so hard a concept for some to grasp? You'll find I'm obdurate when it comes to arguments that boil down to "Do as I say, not as I do."

Do you acknowledge there is a difference in the weight of a statement if it comes from a person in authority? That a statement from a President carries more weight than from Joe the new warehouse worker fresh from graduating HS? Or a statement from the head of a company versus a non executive worker?
When the President says something it carries the weight of the US behind it. That is very different from Jane poster from Kansas posting her POV. She only speaks for herself.

It was an inappropriate statement. Trump needs to show more restraint and diplomacy when discussing other countries. It's unprofessional and unbecoming of his office.
I agree there's an argument to be made that most people have, at one time or another, referred to a city/country/region in a negative or pejorative sense. However the president should be more diplomatic than that. The president isn't "most people."

I can't think of anything Trump would say that would cause me to say "enough is enough." I look at actions and policy more than words. There's many things I could think of that Trump could do that I would say "enough is enough" but none of that has happened yet.
People flap their mouths all the time. Even if I think it's inappropriate, wrong, and disagree with it, it's still just hot air until someone puts their words into action.

If you don't hold yourself to a standard of public speech, you don't care about the standard. Anyone who says, "I care when Haitians are offended by derogatory remarks about their country." but also makes derogatory remarks about Haiti is a liar. Does Pres. Trump's opinion carry more weight than yours? Yes. Does this mean you aren't a hypocrite if you criticize him for violating a standard your own conduct proves you don't care about? No. I'm talking to the universal "you" here.

I believe that Trump was speaking of the immigrants from certain third world countries, Why would we want them here, Since we are good on this board of scouring the internet for so obscure example to back what ever agenda we are pushing today. Here is mine for the next couple of minutes anyway. Immigrants for a third World Country that were productive citizens?? Obama's aunt! Did She ever actually work? Or did She just suck off the system? Are you aware she wrote a book? Or don’t you consider writing as “work”?

However the president should be more diplomatic than that. The president isn't "most people." But the tide has turned. Folks WANT someone that is "most people. " Look. People wanted a president that represented them. That's what they saw in Trump. That he wasn't afraid to use vernacular language. Someone who wasn't status quo. This is what they got. To me, this is more of a sad reflection on how we still think and feel in 2018..rather than Trump. Sort of OT, but I'm reading the politics of resentment...a book about how Walker has done so well in WI. The woman who wrote the book went to rural watering holes to just listen to concerns. She had to deal with sexual harassment (men "joking" about who the father of the child that she was visibly caring to scanning her, etc)..poor language, etc. The point of her book is that folks WANT this sort of culture protected. And THESE are the folks that voted Trump into office. (and in our case, Walker) So, sure...we can all be like with Trump. But that's not the underlying issue. To me, the underlying issue is the fact that there are large parts of our society that think sexual harassment, poor language, racism, and discrimination against folks because of sexual orientation is down right OK. They think it's SO OK, that they are willing to elect lawmakers that will protect this culture, and even elevate it. Until culture changes, it's just going to be SSDD.

As the country becomes more brown/Latin , and it is...can't be stopped ...birth rates being what they are...while the GOP is riding high right now by being in control of all branches of government..I am wondering, by staying silent, being afraid of repercussions from the Donalds base if they do speak out against his craziness...if it is only a short time before the GOP will be deposited in the trash can of American history..kind of like the "Whig " party...no longer relevant... Example...GOP and Trump supporters brag about how much better Trump did in minority areas vs past Republican candidates..even though still very low...can u imagine any Blacks or Latins voting for the party today? Unless they are ok with that type scenario..more important to keep their seats now..[selfish reasons.].it's time for, unless they really believe the same as our Donald, them to cut ties with our Donald, take chance with his base and condemn his mutterings and tweets... Personally I believe many of his so called base are not happy with his remarks and are looking for a way out...especially as they will be losing social services which GOP says have to go... Would like to see a poll taken to see if I am correct or not regarding support for him from his base...still as it was or a decline..or increase..who knows.

As David Leonhart pointed out in an opinion piece in the NYT today,
“No one except Trump can know what Trump’s private thoughts or motivations are. But the public record and his behavior are now abundantly clear. Donald Trump treats black people and Latinos differently than he treats white people.
And that makes him a racist.”

I grant u there are a "LOT" of people who want a vulgar mouthed leader as their POTUS.. but a lot is not a majority... As far as the use of the vernacular , the man is a amateur compared to my drill sergeant..Sgt Maul...or even myself as I gained rank... If his base is in the middle 30's ..why should they be the ones driving the way the country is going..Those types will always be here but I believe they are outnumbered now and even more so every year as the country becomes more ethnically diverse...meaning Latin and Brown to join with their black brothers and sisters.....

As David Leonhart pointed out in an opinion piece in the NYT today, “No one except Trump can know what Trump’s private thoughts or motivations are. But the public record and his behavior are now abundantly clear. Donald Trump treats black people and Latinos differently than he treats white people. And that makes him a racist.” He was that years back when he and his old man were charged and convicted in discriminating against black applicants who wanted to rent in his properties...believe his father also had some doings with the KKK too back in the day. www.inquisitr.com/2411565/donald-trumps-fathers-kkk-ties-fred-trump-named-in-1927-klan-members-clash-with-police/granted 91 years ago but still...fruit falling close to the tree...real close...man is our POTUS...
