Norweigan immigrants came to the U.S. (and Canada too) in the second half of the 19th century/early 20th century. In the U.S., they primarily settled in the upper midwest (Minnesota and Wisconsin).

I would be willing to guess that the people in those "third World" countries use terms far worse when referring to the Good Ol USA!

Oh, I'm sure that "shithole countries" is just Trump's sarcasm, as per SCP. If so , not acceptable, nor is the WHite House apologist now saying it's how he is protecting the country.. CNN is on ...Lemon is moderator..great panel and guests, David Axelrod now..and other Republicans...and many are appalled with the Donalds comments...one says he is destroying all the good the GOP has built up regarding race matters in the past decade..in one day. We know what the Donald is...feels , believes...but what about us... Some say he is just playing to his base..If so, I believe he has badly misunderstood what so many of his base believe..I don't believe all his base is raciest and love his racial comments today..I believe this is going to lose people from his base. How many..no clue but he'll lose more then gain supporters. As one panelist said regarding who we are as Americans...quoted by our former Republican POTUS...paraphrasing... "You can't immigrant to Germany and become German, same to Italy, Switzerland, France..never be considered one of them..a citizen yes but one of them ? No. You immigrant to the USA....you can become a American...Apologist of the Donald say he is looking to look out for Americans...raise income for.. It is brought out...these shithole immigrants do work...they start in many cases, especially if uneducated..have language problems..they work in restaurant kitchens..washes dishes...work on farms, slaughter cattle, chickens, pigs They work on our Golf courses cutting the grass , racking the traps...they take care of our elderly both in institutions or at home...just think of all those necessary but low skilled jobs...there u will find immigrants from shit hole country's. As another commentator said..former CIA member...worked in White Houses...is proud to call himself from a shit hole descendent..parents...father served in our military. Another brought up that 40% of admitted immigrants have a bachelors degree...not all uneducated... Personally I have worked , been over , their boss, folks from these Shit hole countries...In thinking back, can't remember any, repeat, any problems with these folks..many were going on in schools in fact...promoted many..relied and depended on them..

I would be willing to guess that the people in those "third World" countries use terms far worse when referring to the Good Ol USA! Possible some might...however, they are not the POTUS of the "Good Ol USA" I am wondering if the elected members of our Congress are going to hunker down and stay silent about this latest declaration of our Donald...thus giving to a truism....as a group, a political party..the GOP is comfortable being known as a party that is comfortable in not being a party of all the people...more comfortable being known as the party of some of the people and preferable those people should be of a lighter complexation

More raw meat for his base. Dozens of members on our board have used the exact same words when referring to various foreign countries, including some commenting in this thread (who I will do the courtesy of not naming). When Dark (Sum Dum Gai) was still here on the board, he stated at one point "This is going to sound cold, but I don't pay taxes to feed orphans in third world shitholes."--which was a statement 'liked' by almost every American contributor to the thread at that point (9 prominent members). So... while the comment may resonate with his base supporters, they certainly aren't the only ones who agree with him. First, there were seven likes to that post, not nine. More importantly, I would bet that several liked it more for the two sentences which you left out of your quote: "Taking things out of context" only begins to describe this....

I need to just leave this here. I don't remember if we were already here on PB when that massive earthquake hit Haiti, but having someone there to "find" from all the way back here in the US, I watched a LOT of CNN as they were the only ones there the whole time. and AC was 95% of it. "Sh**hole" comment from a "sh**head" person. I am not at all surprised at that. I AM surprised that there are still ANY people in this country who still try to defend that disgusting piece of sh**. The only way to take that is that those people are equally disgusting. #Sad

Our Donald said he thinks he has a good relationship with North Koreas leader...however...as far as one of our oldest and most friendly ally..Great Britain...it seems the relationship is anything but...in a way , kind of sucks... Enough so our Donald canceled his soon to be trip to the UK for opening our 750 million embassy...sending Sec of State , Tillerson, instead..... Who would have ever thought our POTUS would be uncomfortable going to the UK..another surprise happening in less then a year in office...just think of the rest of the soap opera as it goes into year two of a four year run...unless unforeseen happenings happen,.. ------------------------------------ "Donald Trump has shelved plans to open the new US embassy in London next month, according to reports. Concerned about the welcome he would receive in the UK, the President is understood to be sending US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson instead. -------------------------------------- www.yahoo.com/news/donald-trump-cancels-trip-britain-232353113.html

I consider the entire Middle East to be a shithole. I'll admit it. However, I am not the POTUS and have nothing to do with leading this country. He suggested we need new immigrants from places like Norway. You know, white folks. Hitler II is emerging more and more each day. or, not because they're white, but because we have a largely shared value system and cultural norms? nah, can't be that, better to assume rampant racism. everyone knows the Zimbabwe is every bit as civilized as norway Then Trump should have said "why don't we attract more educated immigrants who can immediately contribute to our country?"
And he should have already apologized for his unfortunate choice of words in his original comment.
You'll notice the WH hasn't apologized or tried to put a different 'spin' on this.
Trump was upsetting the racist segment of his base with all his DACA talk - plus he hadn't said anything outrageous in a good two days - do he dropped this turd in the punch bowl to reassure his white supremist voters that he hasn't forgotten them.

In the U.S., they primarily settled in the upper midwest (Minnesota and Wisconsin). My Grandparents came here from Norway (and Sweden) during that time. Of course, back then things were worse in the Scandinavian countries. I wonder how difficult it'd be, with my heritage, to go back?

Regarding his cancellation of his trip to Great Britain...now he says it's all Obamas fault...he doesn't like the new building..it was a bad deal...sale of old, building of a new one..$1.2 billion... His reason, blame of Obama....blaming wrong POTUS...it was Bush who made deal to sell old, build new....This guy is such a AH......can he do anything right...can't even get correct guy to blame for something he doesn't agree on...[wonder if his name was on the building if he would feel the same way] Most think real reason was because of knowing there would be demonstrations there against his visit, also he was not scheduled to meet the Queen...[Brits /Royals decision? If so...a downer though he has been critical of Londons Mayor handling of terrorist attacks..also disses Great Britain too] ===================================================== "Trump says his London trip is off because he doesn't like the embassy building The President, through his Twitter account, said his canceled London trip was due to his refusal to officiate the opening of the new U.S. embassy. Trump claimed the Obama administration had gotten a "bad deal" by selling the prior embassy for "peanuts" and moving to an "off location" in south London. While Trump called out the Obama administration, the decision to acquire a new London embassy site was actually announced in 2008 under George W. Bush."---------------------------------------------------------- www.cnbc.com/2018/01/12/donald-trump-cancels-london-trip-because-he-doesnt-like-embassy-building.html------------------------------------------------------------------- www.cbsnews.com/news/donald-trump-cancels-london-visit-embassy-tweet-barack-obama-britain-protests/-------------------------------------

trump's denying it now. Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump on Friday denied describing certain nations as "shithole countries" during a meeting in which he rejected a bipartisan deal on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. "The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used. What was really tough was the outlandish proposal made - a big setback for DACA!" Trump tweeted Trump denies making 'shithole countries' comment

Did we even own the old building/land? Lying trump is blaming Obama for the bad new embassy. But it was the Bush administration who approved the new location and building. "On October 8, 2008, the embassy announced a conditional agreement with the real estate developer Ballymore to purchase property for a new embassy site on the south bank of the River Thames in the Nine Elms area of the London Borough of Wandsworth.[17] The site lies within the Vauxhall/Nine Elms/Battersea Opportunity Area as set out in the London Plan. The proposed plan would only go forward if approved by the United States Congress and by the local planning authority.[18] The Northern line extension to Battersea will have new stations at Battersea and Nine Elms—combined with major local development. The United States Department of State announced in January 2009 that it was choosing among nine architectural firms, all "modern" and "upmarket", to replace the ageing embassy headquarters.[19] In March 2009 the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations announced that four architectural firms had been selected for the final phase of the design competition.[19] By law, the architect for a U.S. embassy must be an American firm with "numerous security clearances".[19]" Embassy of the United States, London

Beyond just being fucking outraged again by something insane that's come out of his mouth (I shouldn't be surprised anymore), I'm more just heartbroken remembering how Africa and El Salvador weren't shitholes, they were beautiful places struggling with a lot of things and had many lovely, hospitable, hopeful people in them. (who insofar as I encountered did not hate the US, I'll add) I don't have enough WTFs for this circus anymore.

I believe that Trump was speaking of the immigrants from certain third world countries, Why would we want them here, Since we are good on this board of scouring the internet for so obscure example to back what ever agenda we are pushing today. Here is mine for the next couple of minutes anyway.
Immigrants for a third World Country that were productive citizens?? Obama's aunt! Did She ever actually work? Or did She just suck off the system?

First, there were seven likes to that post, not nine. There were nine originally. I can count. The security log doesn't track 'likes' and un-likes, so I can't tell who the culprits are, but obviously somebodies are conducting a little historical revision. "Taking things out of context" only begins to describe this.... The context is right there, in the link I posted. And it doesn't change the fact that there were 9 big likes by members who don't want their taxes paying for mudhole third world countries, which they clearly don't mind calling mudhole countries.

The new embassy is heavily re-enforced, set back 100 feet from the street and with living quarters for the Marines who guard it. I would imagine the Marines are happy with the new digs, since they are the ones who have to defend it from terrorist attacks (since London has been known to have one or two of those in the past.)
But Trump doesn't know the difference between siting a hotel and siting an embassy and of course, has to stoop to fling mud once more at Obama without checking the facts, because that requires effort.
The REAL reason the trip got cancelled is the Brits are afraid of the rioting it would cause, and we all know Trump hates to go anyplace where cheering crowds chanting 'lock her up' aren't present.

A billion people...many highly educated...filled with natural resources...granted some countries with problems ...but also well developed countries...modern cities and yes..possible in the outer reaches some folks live in "huts"....[Have anyone traveled to very rural parts of Appalachia..Mississippi ..even depressed areas of our inner cities..] For a supposedly business oriented individual, our Donald hasn't a clue as to where are area for development...to make the $ he is so in love with. The Chinese know about this great potential for earning $...they are fully involved in investing in the continent , and in the future will earn great returns as they take over as world leaders of the world and we will be regulated to just another nation out there. Thanks Donald.....

Why is this so hard a concept for some to grasp?
