I still need to work on the tea stash....
Iggy aka IG you probably remember I decluttered a TON of tea last year. Can you bring some to the office, to give to/share with colleagues and/or clients? Or give your DH some to take to his job to share with his colleagues? I only drink tea when I'm at death's door, and DH only drinks one sort of tea. I don't remember the exact count but I got rid of some of our "extra" tea by taking it into school and making suggesting DH take some in as well. (I also forced myself to drink some lol.) At this point we're down to 5 sorts, DH's tea and the kids' favorites. That is PLENTY!

I had $10 in Kohl's cash from having hit up some sales last week for some items I needed, so I went tonight to see if I could find some items I wanted to hold me over til I'm actually in the next size down. that was a complete bust, as everything was either ridiculously large or too snug to be seen in public. guess I need to hurry up and finish getting down to the next size. so since the Kohl's cash expires Sunday, I wandered the store to see what else I might find. well, if you need sheets, the store brand 275ct sheet sets are all on sale for $24.99, all sizes. I don't happen to need sheets, but the roommate has a king sized bed. so I picked up a regularly priced $100 sheet set for all of $10.61 after sale, Kohl's cash and $5 reward. as I texted him with a pic of the receipt.... I'm good at this.

today, my Lowe's $100 gift card arrived in the mail (we can redeem kudos points at work for gift cards...) so I went and picked up the portable grill I picked out last weekend online. Surprise - it was on sale for $10 off regular price! I also picked up a bunch of other stuff since it's currently their "Spring Black Friday" sale from now til the 18th. I burned the gift card and another $100 on a bunch of stuff, including half-priced EZ-seed from Scotts. all the Scotts stuff is half off right now, and all of the garden stuff is on huge sale. so when I got home, I popped back online and redeemed more points for a $250 gift card. I'm going to have some fun with that one

Nice Job Chiver!
I dropped off a few items at Goodwill yesterday. Usually I don't stop in, but I had a few minutes to spare. For a little closure, we had a pup that was DH's when we got married. He was such a good boy. DH retained his cremains. He was in what the cremation place sent, and still in the original shipping box to us. Other pups have urns on a shelf in the office. He had a box. I found a small steamer trunk (made me sad to look at it), but, it was perfect... Trig now has better than a shipping box. It didn't cost much, but well worth the money I would have spent elsewhere. So, I guess it was money saving.

I am going no where. I am spending nothing. H. will/maybe use 10 cent off coupon for gas. Too much snow in the driveway, and he doesn't want to drive on it.
I used 6 cent off coupon yesterday for gas. I did not go to Big Lots 20% off sale after looking at my stored paper product. I don't need more.

Nice, chiver78 ! What a way to begin the outdoor party season. Aw, dogmom . Artemis Windsong What a weekend! For once I feel like we had more than just 2 days off! ~Drank some instant coffee languishing in the pantry. Expiration date was last year, but oh well. ~I drank adult beverages we had on hand, rather than stopping at the liquor store after work Friday. I just Googled what alcohols we did have, and cocktail suggestions popped up (we've done this before during parties). We also had a bottle of wine I bought a few weeks ago to celebrate a work achievement. ~Date night: It's time to start focusing on our extra square footage in the downstairs lounge. We watched a VHS movie, while playing a board game I bought DH for Christmas, eating a few snacks on hand and sipping the above mentioned wine. In the future I'd like to really start playing this up by making a meat, cheese and olive charcuterie board, thinking up theme nights, etc. ~Used 1 lb+ of the pistachios DH bought me for Christmas in cookies (YUM!), used up pineapple, it's juice, some sad looking chicken breasts from the freezer, and 1/3 jar of some aging honey in a stir fry, soaked overnight then cooked some Budget Bytes Not Refried Beans yesterday, and turned some leftover salmon into sushi last night. Frugality can be fun!

Working on taping woodwork in the living/dining room so I can paint, not hiring anyone to paint
will do it myself. This room is tough, side walls 9 ft, middle is beamed and 12 ft lots of openings all wood trimmed so each needs taped. Since I have to tape off the ends of the beam, it takes a TALL ladder. But this will save us a lot. Getting 2 walls ready, then when we move that stuff back, then hubs and I will have to move a grandfather clock and a very HEAVY china hutch on the end wall. I had nicks and some cracks to fill and sand, have that part almost done, may have to put another coat on, but going to look nice. Just routine bumps and scratches so no big deal.
I spackled and sanded today the corner in my laundry room, its where the baskets have rubbed the spackle off the corner. Once its done and painted, I have a plastic transparent corner to put over it. I may repaint that room too, I bought a gallon of paint that color. I'm thinking of putting a thin piece of plexiglass on that side wall to keep the baskets from damaging the wall.

It was a little difficult for me to lift the corners of the furniture to get them under there, but they work wonderfully. We have really heavy pine furniture from the 1970s. It is massive. DH has a bad back so I had to move all the furniture by myself. I just left the sliders underneath the corners when I finished. They are cheap enough that I bought a second set. Walmart is cheapest for these, but Lowes, etc. sells them, too.

We had one set and they didn't work right. Yep, I used to put stuff on throwrugs to move furniture.
I always moved it by myself too. We have 4 pieces that are HEAVY. One a solid wood entertainment
center, the china hutch, another hutch in my office and a 5 foot wide desk with book case on the top.
I used to scoot furniture around all the time.
We likely will try them again. All this stuff will really have to be moved whether we do carpet or
wood. Everyone is telling me I will not like hardwood, about to talk me out of something I'm not
crazy about anyway. This has been down 15 years and isn't worn out, just starting to look
crushed in some areas by the table and where we walk through to our bathroom. We had laminate all
over in our Texas house but it had individual rooms and not this open concept, I'm thinking it will
really echo in here too. So undecided.

That seems to be the latest thing with great reviews on Facebook groups. One real estate agent even mentioned that it's being put in $500k homes here.

We put vinyl in a rent house, I don't like it. We put in a type of Armstrong laminate in my kitchen
and family room in Texas, I put it down in a HUGE room and it was durable and beautiful. But it
would not look good in here as we have ceramic in the kitchen and in the hallway all the way down
over 30 ft to the bathroom.
I know there are lots of options, I just can't decide, we are almost back to carpet again. Hubs thinks I won't like anything else.

Hubs bought electrical service for his garage today, the breaker box, cut off, surge suppressor, etc.
Him being able to do electrical wiring and us living in an area where we don't have to have licensed
electricians saves us a bundle. His wiring has passed inspections with flying colors, he always exceeds
requirements. He is a fanatic on safe wiring for our rentals. The newest house we will be working on,
he has almost completely rewired and will except for a newer kitchen in it.
Tomorrow, he is putting in a new water heater for renters in a rent mobile, the only mobile we have.
It only had a 30 gallon heater, they must have run out of hot water, so he measured and can get a 40
gallon in it, only $20 more. So he will replace that for the cost of the water heater only, about $400.
He is going to tear down in 2 weeks an old house in our little town for them a real eye sore. They are
going to give him the lot for doing so. We are not sure if we want it, just helping them clean up an
entrance to the town, he is a good guy.

tonight I stopped at the dive bar to catch the end of the Sox game. I didn't order a small pizza to go (and snack on while I'm here) and will likely grab a small bowl of leftover pasta when I get home. one if the things that is still making me nuts about the regulatory inspection last month is that not only is my sleep pattern incredibly fucked up, so are my eating habits. at least as far as when I'm actually hungry.
so, $10 saved there with a pizza I don't need.

i stayed out of the Coach store. I did enough damage a few days ago to last me for years....but I did achieve buying a combo wallet/cross body bag that I need when being at the VA. I couldn't make up my mind if i wanted the ivory or black one.....so i bought them both

Safeway monopoly game: I've now also received free aluminum foil, corn, and more tomato sauce. I decided to do the "second chance" entries while watching documentaries and have received enough points for a "10 cents off/gallon" gas reward. Finally, I'm putting the little pieces on the game board, and just got all the pieces for a $5 grocery gift card, which I plan to redeem on my way home from work in the morning Not bad, especially since I really don't shop there much (one lady ahead of me in line gave me 18 tickets since she doesn't play).

Payday again already?! Where did this month go... Saved just 20% at the grocery store last night shopping the sales and using paper and e-coupons. I usually average 28%. I reviewed the receipt and realized just how much processed foods and soda (which I rarely purchase) add to the bottom line. Duly noted. But, not to beat myself up too much, I declined to use several coupons because even with the savings, the price was just too high. Speaking of coupons, I've been recycling paper to print out coupons, recipes and other things. Saved $4 off my allergy pills this morning at Wally World, and .50 each on 2 packages of TP. And, yes, I've started shopping at WW again for HBAs and cleaning/laundry supplies. I did an informal price comparison on a few items last month, and that was all she wrote. As of this morning, I've also started using their Savings Catcher again. Lifetime savings there is just over $29 apparently. We'll see. Happy weekend, everyone. ETA: Remember to check your receipts. I just realized I was double charged for a $8.97 item. Sigh. Back to WW I go....

For some reason the insurance started charging me $80 a month for premarin instead of a few months back $180
Then $170, then $160, then wham $80!! Hope they keep that up, hurrah. The doc had tried all kinds of ways to
get them to reduce it, maybe they finally read one of her memos.
I didn't go anywhere today, and bought nothing on the computer, so spent nothing. Very happy

Yesterday, the shopping "Gods" sort of fell in line. A store I sometimes shop at had a sale. Between hard goods and grocery, coupons, rewards, and sale, saved 35%. (And the full bill was under $100 for a change) Bought DH's Motor oil for two oil changes. Picked up a new set of bed sheets for our bed (we got rid of three sets a few weeks ago... worn out, torn...donated to shelter) Sale, plus 10% off, and a reward tied into the purchase) And, I even like the brand. Stocked up on laundry detergent (not free, but very reasonable) One new toy for Shelby. Some groceries. (fill in items for the week). Even got a couple items for free... (frozen peas, a head of lettuce, some rice)

I received a $100 travel voucher from United due to the lack of wheelchair assist when landing in Houston. I had to wait 1 hour before someone finally showed up and he was one of the managers...he also gave me the voucher.
On return trip yesterday, had 3 hour delay due to mechanical issues and everyone on board was given the website to receive a "were sorry" gift. The gift was another travel voucher (both good for 1 year) for $75. Definitely plan on using both.

Nothing saved here, DH and I upgraded our phones today, his was 4 years old and mine was 3...so when you add in the case, screen protector, upgrade fee, blahblah...we didn't save anything for sure. I also stopped and got myself a good pair of walking shoes, on sale for $60.

Did good today, was home, no online shopping and I cancelled my TJ Maxx card. I just got it last year for a big sale where you got money off to open one. Just don't need it, get points back on my Bank of America card and just didn't see that much sale stuff with it. The agent says when you cancel it you can never get another one. Oh really, then cancel that sucker, I don't need something like that, there are millions of cards out there if I ever want another one.
We have a Bank of America, a Sears card, and a Pennys card, and a Lowes Business card. Pennys does have good money off on sales, those are enough. And if Sears closes here will get rid of it like I did Macys. Used to be great sales at Macys too. We don't carry a balance on any of them.

Mailing in a $5 rebate form using one of the envelopes I've had for over 13 years.
I make sure to keep the bedroom light off during my morning bathroom preening routine. Saves 30 minutes of electricity at a time.
DH has begun researching on demand water systems.

I just noticed I have about $390 worth of rewards money I can get out of mastercard, will wait till its $500 if I don't need it, that will be handy to put back Not really spending today. I do need to order a part for another sweeper and I'm getting low on Estee Lauder colognes so will be getting them soon. I'm still waiting on my other sweeper piece that was $120, not sure yet what is wrong with the other one, maybe just a broken belt. I, for now, am using the Shark Navigator from the motorhome. It's a good little sweeper, just not got the long hose so I can clean out car floors and things, but ok for carpet.

I did buy a ticket to see Ringo Starr in September. I saved money because I did not buy a VIP ticket and I'm still in the 6th row. Seat next to me is VIP.

Not today so far spent nothing, but need to get come meds refilled, pretty cheap though.
And again not today, but I have all kinds of cookbooks but my favorite is an old Better Homes and Gardens dated 1968. The new and newer ones do not have some of my old recipes. I found one online to replace it, in fantastic condition. My old one had been used so much the tabs are wore off and the pages are crumbling. Where ever this one was, it was not used much. Happy Day!

I'm still trying to clear out my sinuses, but I opted to have the last of the blistering pesto pasta leftovers in the fridge rather than go back to the Thai place and spend $15 on lunch. dinner will likely be out of the options in my desk drawer, also basically free. I can't really taste anything, so why spend extra $?

I have only spent $60 since the 17th. That $25k for taxes really got me and our pockets.
