dogmom (I love your screen name!) How did the kit turn out? The "kit" for the most part turned out okay. Your ingredients were more interesting. It contained a 4# pot roast, seasoning packet, carrots, onions, celery, a few small red potatoes. DH wasn't thrilled with the amount of fat on the roast. I doubt I would buy it again. Everything was together, packaged nicely, so, just had to wash the produce and throw it in the crock pot. I think it saved me some time. I admire your menu plans. As for dinner tonight...not a clue. Tomorrow night, three ingredient chicken. (chicken, dry Italian dressing and brown sugar) Not sure of the sides yet. Dang, sorry! But I'm glad it saved you time. So important these days. And thank you for the compliment. Your supper tomorrow night sounds really good using the brown sugar. Yum!

when I leave work, I'm heading to a bar near here to catch a friend's cover band for a bit before heading home. I haven't decided if I'm going to nuke the leftovers I brought in today, or just eat there. I'm not hungry yet, so we'll see. it's pub fare there, so who knows. if I go with the leftovers, it's what's left of sauteed chicken and broccoli tossed with a packet of Knorr rice that I made with chicken stock. not awful, but super salty even with an unsalted stock.
I'll probably leave the leftovers here and have them on Monday night.

dinner last night was a bacon, onion and pepper pizza at the dive bar, with some drinks.
tonight will be football munchies over the course of a few hours. 3pm kickoff. I know we are doing bacon-wrapped jalapenos, but not sure what else.

2 banana peanut butter chocolate smoothie. 2 packs of breakfast essentials provide the chocolate and vitamins. I don't eat solid food with a migraine.

Sigh.... Just about done posting when my computer decided to restart... So this will be quick. Tonight: Chorizo, mini tots and cheddar wrapped in tortillas for DH. I'll have some on top of pork rinds and make fried eggplant. Total cost approx $6 for 4 servings. Tomorrow night: Coney Island Chili Dog Pie total cost approx $6 for 4 servings. Wed: IDK. Maybe breakfast for supper? Thurs: Leftovers Friday: Take out from? Sat: IDK yet. Sun: DH will grill or smoke something on the Traeger. Down 11 pound thanks to eating low carb.

I have been eating out of the freezer last week and into this week. So it is going to be leftovers and stir fry's with brown rice for the next few days. I haven't been grocery shopping and am holding off doing it depending on if there is torrential rain or not later this week. Though I have the feeling that I will end up going tonight or tomorrow just to make sure there is gasoline in the car.

my stomach's a little wonky from having a little too much to drink yesterday over the course of two football games. a "dinner" of chips and guacamole, with a main course of bacon-wrapped jalapenos probably didn't help matters much. I just finished lunch of tater tots and over easy eggs, dinner tonight will probably be some other greasy takeout. maybe Chinese?

I took a package of Johnsonville Italian sausage from the freezer just now. Think I'll take one, thaw it then cut it in half and grill it, then add a couple of scrambled eggs with green/red pepper and hot sauce. Voila, dinner.

I thought I had soy sauce. I don't, and I'm not going out to get some.
So my stir fry will use Santa Fe chicken and beans over carrots, scallions, corn, and cauliflower rice. Doesn't sound appetizing even to me. But it will be zero Smart Points on Weight Watchers FreeStyle, and I need it after the overeating I did this past weekend and the no time for breakfast/no time for lunch high-calorie snacking I did at my desk today.. I do have some fresh herbs to add, so maybe it won't be as boring as it sounds.

I'm not feeling great today and just wanted soup. In the mood for an Asian soup bowl.
I dressed up some ramen soup with sautéed onion, chicken, garlic, ginger, scallions, sesame oil, soy sauce, oyster sauce, red pepper strips, touch of lime, and topped it with hardboiled egg, avocado slices and cilantro.
I already had the cooked chicken and hardboiled eggs, so it took no time at all.
It was pretty good.

dinner tonight turned into some wings of various flavors from the hot bar at the grocery store near work, then half a pint of "oatmeal cookie" Halo Top ice cream a little later. some of the flavors are not playing well together in my tummy, hopefully I can fall asleep pretty quickly. ugh.

I boiled extra raviolis now for lunch, tossed in a bruschetta topping. I'm going to bring that to work today, with a Caesar salad. but I will likely end up nuking some soup with the salad so I don't have raviolis twice in the same day. although, I am meeting some cruise friends for drinks after work, so maybe it is a good idea. lol...

yeah, idk. Scotch eggs are definitely coated in bread crumbs before frying, and bubble and squeak is called that b/c the cabbage squeaks as it cooks the second time. maybe 'gaff' has something to do with the family? maybe cooking traditions within the family? I've got nothing, sorry. although, now that I'm on a keyboard and not Tapatalk, I can tag gs11rmb as she's from over there, albeit not Ireland specifically. maybe she can help?

I think it probably means home-made. Gaff is slang for house. Iggy aka IG - I'm Scottish not Irish (although I do have an Irish name ) and if you're looking for something Celtic-like for your winter birthday dinner, I make an absolutely delicious steak and ale pie!

gs11rmb , thank you for the explanation. Makes sense. My BFF part Scottish and I'm part Irish, so it's a joke between us the fact we're not supposed to get along, LOL. And, yes, it would be an honor to feature your dish at my party. I'm all ears if you want to share the recipe here, or via PM.

Iggy aka IG - here you go... foodnessgracious.com/steak-ale-pie/If you can find a chocolate ale you should buy it! I've managed to get it a couple of times from Whole Foods. If not, get a really good rich stout. Don't cheap out and get a $3 Guinness. Also, make sure you use the chuck roast steak and don't buy stew meat that's already been cut up. Finally, the Scots and the Irish get along just fine... well, apart from the sectarian eejits (you've learned two new slang words today)!

I just made meatballs are in the oven baking, now I'm enhancing a jar of home made spaghetti sauce. I think this winter is going to see me going through all my home canned goods. Not sure I can do a garden this year, will just kill me to have to go "boughten" but going to happen if not this year in the coming years, damn. DIL loved my frozen corn, we went through all of it already unless there are a few packages hiding in the big freezer. So angel hair spaghetti, I need to rustle up some salad with this too, may just use cabbage instead of lettuce, both are equally good. Need to see if I have any Texas toast left in the freezer. DIL did give me ideas on making sauces etc taste better with more spices and veggies added in.

do Scottish people actually take that shortcut in speech? sounds like something someone who isn't Scottish would say.

Monday night and tonight mustard glazed chicken from a Hello Fresh recipe. Sides of rice and roasted sweet potato, red onion and zucchini. Cost maybe $10?
I definitely need to get some squash and zucchini in the freezer this summer when people are giving it away. $1.99/lb is a killer.
Wednesday I'm going to make the black bean pulled chicken.
Thursday night will either be leftovers or a restaurant we like near the airport as we have an early Friday morning flight.

Hell, they're cheaper than Aldi.
