We had a good savings month in March! We paid off the balance of our Disney Resort (includes lodging, tickets, dining package, and photo package). The remaining money we need to save is just spending, gas, extra food expenses, etc. We leave on April 27th and it can't come soon enough!

Savers,
The end of the month draws near. Saturday is the last day of the month. Sunday is Easter.
To give everyone a chance to get in their last updates of the month, I'll do the smilies on Monday evening, April 2.
Lots of nice updates I see here. Keep up the good work.

Still plugging away. Met my Emergency Fund goal today and on track to meet my "Olivia" savings (Olivia is my pup so that savings is for her vet care) by mid-April and my Christmas savings by the end of April. And then it will be a bit before meeting the rest of my smaller goals. I feel really good about it though! I hope everyone has a wonderful Passover and Easter weekend! idlechatter 3/30/18 20,224.25 (Goal $28,350) Savings Account | Goal | WIRS Start 1/31/2018 | 3/30/2017 | Difference from WIRR Start | % Met | Remainder to Save | Emergency | $5,000.00 | $4,019.49 | $5,000.00 | $980.51 | 100.00% | $0.00 | Car | $1,400.00 | $1.11 | $1,400.00 | $1,398.89 | 100.00% | $0.00 | Christmas | $1,200.00 | $0.78 | $1,050.00 | $1,049.22 | 87.50% | $150.00 | House | $1,000.00 | $0.47 | $0.47 | $0.00 | 0.05% | $999.53 | Other | $1,000.00 | $0.30 | $0.30 | $0.00 | 0.03% | $999.70 | Olivia | $1,000.00 | $701.08 | $952.22 | $251.14 | 95.22% | $47.78 | Dad | $5,000.00 | $904.60 | $5,000.00 | $4,095.40 | 100.00% | $0.00 | 401K | $12,750.00 | $875.42 | $6,821.26 | $5,945.84 | 53.50% | $5,928.74 | Total | $28,350.00 | $6,503.25 | $20,224.25 | $13,721.00 | 71.34% | $8,125.75 |

I have been lazy lately, with the inspection going on. I haven't played cards since apparently the 11th of March. oops. Fixing that situation today, I am putting another $12 into the pot with three more cards - Ace of clubs, 2 of hearts, and 2 of spades. ETA: I just found the Ace of clubs in the cup with the cash, so I messed up something somewhere. I'll knock out the 2 of diamonds today (also $4) to keep the total number the same. $226. total for 2018 = $910 chiver78 $226

Finnime 3/30/2018 $1,105.25 ($32,000)I took out all of my quarter 1 goals as they have been met and largely spent. Other money from my settlement is now penciled in for retirement. The new goals are incremental and what I would like to get to over time. My emergency fund has been defined as the daily/weekly savings. That helps me mentally keep it sacrosanct. The Finland fund is new, for next year, when I hope to go with my DSis on a family vacation.

2/23/18 Azucena $1,816 of $25,000 (stretch $35,000)
Payday with a bit of savings, also finished paying most of Destin vacation next month.
Bonus net was almost $20,000 so given that my savings total for March is a bit embarrassing.
Rough numbers: We planned to spend $6000 on home improvements but that actually came out to $8000 because there were unexpected problems. $6000 went to fulfill our pledge for the new school building. $4000 for a down payment for a cruise this fall.
The bonus was higher than expected because it came during a promotion year. This is a career milestone type promotion so we decided we deserved to splurge a little. The raise will leave some room in the budget for additional savings which we may split off for more spending this year since we've been running a tight ship. Still debating what to do. In some weird ways, it's tougher to have so many options.
$20,000 - $8,000 - $6000 - $4000 = $2000 for savings
3/31/18 Azucena $3,998 of $25,000 (stretch $35,000)

This has been a busy month for us. Our 1st ever budget in February went great, but we truly fell off the rails again in March. DH got a part time job that brought with it close to $800 in initial expenses, although it was for clothes, licensing fees, tools of the trade, etc. And, we decided to bump the baby up from 2 to 3 days of preschool a week, for everyone's sanity, for an extra unplanned $400 in expenses in March. Potty presents for our super-stubborn almost 4 year old was another unexpected big chunk of change. We will come out ahead in the long run, but March was painful. I tweaked my savings goals to match my actual expectations for the year. By 12/31/18, I should have saved and/or spent for its intended purpose, almost $51,000. That is nuts! But, doable, especially now that DH is working. We don't NEED the money, but it will get us to our goals sooner. Our main focus at the moment is to pay off the minivan by July 1st. (And to NEVER have a car payment again, but, one thing at a time!) Once that is done, I will go back and start filling the other accounts - taxes first, as we'll have school taxes due in September. When I get a minute to think, I want to go through all of my expenses for March and do a compare/contrast again what I budgeted and where we ended up. Some of the difference was unavoidable, but I am going to try to be extra strict this month to cover the overage from last month. Here's to spring (even though we had snow this morning!) and new beginnings... And continued efforts to better ourselves.

On a positive note, we have our new HSA account up to $2250, but I have not counted that in savings.

Hello Savers, Some of your updates don't have a clear tag line, and others don't have a tag line at all, so if your numbers or smilies are not accurate in this post, please let me know when you amend your post and I will make sure to get the correction in here. One or two of you amended your goals, and I may have missed that as well. Just let me know and I'll do an update. Thanks for your patience.

3/31/18 Azucena $3,998 of $25,000 (stretch $35,000)
Actually forgot today was payday, that's how crazy it's been these past couple of weeks. Also forgot to turn my 401k contribution back on so my paycheck was $800 more than it should have been. I turned 401k off each year to get more of my bonus in cash. Figure it doesn't matter since I then reset 401k % to max by end of year.
4/6/18 Azucena $6688 of $25,000 (stretch $35,000)

Snapdragon 4/09/18 --- $ 13,417.55 / $ 18,700 -- Update
Car/House $ 2501.91 / $3500
Savings $ 4010.22 / $4000

I needed to adjust my totals a bit but things are going fine. I got my water heater done and paid off with cash in checking and I didn't need to break into my house fund. Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to nicer weather - eventually.

Deposited $2487 most of this is the last part of my father's estate and money that comes with complicated emotions from our complicated relationship. It's likely I will "blow" it later but for now it's been added to savings.

Shoutouts part 1 of 2:
Hi WIR Savers! Travelling and pet sitting, finally sitting still to do the shoutouts. This time we're going alphabetical... If you did an update for March and I miss you, please forgive and message me so I can correct that and include you. azucena Congrats on nearly $4K saved through March. Unfortunate that your home improvements were $2K more than expected but being able to cash flow is commendable. I agree that many options can complicate sometimes, which makes being a WIR Saver with a plan and accountability very smart. chiver78 Kudos on being nearly 25% to goal. I love that your "card game savings" keeps you from forgetting for very long. I think you will get your dancing banana in 2018. finnime Nice work with over $1100 in your EF and having it established in a way to "protect it" so that later it can protect you! idlechatter You are doing fantastic. Making your goals and celebrating the milestones are great techniques for achieving savings and security, while eliminating debt and reducing anxiety!!! We are so happy you have joined us. Congrats on over $20K! Jaguar I'm sad you had to move your savings horizon out to July/August, but thanks for checking in to let us know, and for cheering us on in the meantime. Maryland Monroe Nice job with over $11K and 63% saved to goal!! And good job knowing that the "running total method" is what works well for you minnesotapaintlady Good March update of nearly $3600 saved, and sneak peek shows me you are moving ahead by leaps and bounds in April nikiz628 Congratulations on your month of March with over $8K saved to date! And nice work being ready for your vacation, so you don't have to deal with debt/regrets when you get home! Enjoy your fun and memory making!!

Shoutouts part 2 of 2:plugginaway22 You may have "backpedaled" in your saver's update, but you're doing great with cash flowing household projects, building your HSA, and (my personal favorite) having your DH on board with accounting for every $100 even though your household income is considered high. Congrats for over $9800 saved! Saving4Norway Excellent savings growth in March, leaping from $4K to $7K, and more than on target for the year with 42% to goal! seriousthistime Thank you for your gift of keeping us organized and encouraged with savings updates! So nice to be at 27.8% and nail down that . I love watching your survival fund grow! shanendoah Boo for costly leaky pipes. YEA for auto savings to the rescue!! Good job!!! snapdragon I'm glad you are well. Good work at 67.6% accomplished for March and sneak peek shows good progress for April too!! teachermom Congrats on your new rose . on breaking into double digits for 10.4% (a nice level with consideration for your multi-year goals), and on your steady pace toward $20K for the year!!! tobinikui Congrats on the outcome of your 1st ever budget in Feb, and good job enduring through a "long March" of expenses. You do a good job of using past experience and present tweaking to create future success. Nice work with nearly 27% like so many (10) others who are at or over 25% & are on target to earn the dancing banana by the end of 2018. trimatty471 nice strong effort in March growing your savings by more than $3K in one month!!! and being thisclose to earning your first star!!! shoutouts to our savers who are away, would love to have you post in April. Thanks to lund debthaven and NastyWoman for giving encouragement to the Savers in March. And for kicks, the best poker hand in the March updates goes to teachermom with . 4 jokers and a queen? Keep up the good work Savers
