When will your car be paid off plugginaway22 ? Same here about wanting to keep those savings in the bank! At this point DH wants to wait on the car. We both take turns changing our minds. finnime, for whatever reason we are MUCH better at paying off debt than paying back savings. So although I know your suggestion makes great sense, I'm hesitant about planning to pay back savings for anything we take out because I fear that it just won't happen.

I still have about 18 months on my car loan, but in the new year may start making extra payments to shorten the term.

Back from our Disney cruise last week - it was phenomenal. We did concede to putting $250 down for a deposit to cruise again in the next 2 yrs which gets us a $200 onboard credit and 10% off cruise; Disney never goes on sale. It's refundable for the 2 yr window so seemed like a no-brainer. I forgot that we put a chunk of the spending on a different card so when I first checked the balance I was thinking it was too low and that we did better than I thought. The $250 plus $600 on board charges were on the second card. Still not terrible for a fabulous vacation. It worked out to be a double paycheck day today with mine being the third paycheck of the month. Along with the automatic extra mortgage payment, I was able to put some money in savings. I haven't updated in a while, so this is a lump of Nov. Some money went out of savings and some went in. Net effect: 11/30/18 Azucena $1,248 deposit for $16,678 (67% of $25,000 goal)Fell off the map for a while, but here's my last update for the year. Need to start thinking about next year's goal. Missed making 100% this year but the cruise was worth it. 12/31/18 Azucena $708 various deposits for $17,386 (70% of $25,000 goal).

Happy 2019 Savers! We'll give everyone a little extra time to collect their year-end numbers and get them posted to this thread. I'll be doing the smilies on Saturday, January 5. forwardwego will follow with the shoutouts, and then the 2018 thread will be locked.

As usual, I leave the shoutouts to our faithful cheerleader, forwardwego. I know she will not shout herself out, so let me do it. forwardwego, you made it! There was so little fanfare in your post that I had to go back to the update before that to make sure I got the correct number of roses for you! Congratulations, friend!!! You fought hard to get here, and you did it! And of course, we will all miss Jaguar terribly. I didn't want to leave her out of the chart but somehow wanted to reflect that she is no longer here to share everyone's trials and tribulations. If you have not had a chance, please read my post above. Jaguar faced a lot of physical and financial challenges, and knowing what little I did know when she was still with us, it is amazing to me that she was able to save anything at all. She obviously had an unbeatable spirit, and in that respect she will be with us always. I hope no one is offended by the way I chose to reflect her in this chart. If anyone finds it offensive please let me know. And if for any reason someone has an update they forgot to get in and would still like to post, go ahead and I will update the chart until forwardwego finishes her shoutouts. After that, the thread will be locked. Happy New Year, Savers! Please join me, forwardwego, and the others in the 2019 Savers thread: ymam.proboards.com/thread/59022/women-red-savers-2019?page=1&scrollTo=2950235

And our 2018 WIR Saver Overview: We had EIGHT winners of the somewhat elusive dancing banana: trimatty471 shanendoah seriousthistime Saving4Norway plugginaway22 nikiz628 Maryland Monroe and yours truly. with plugginaway22 and Saving4Norway reaching another 30+% beyond their goals....I guess it pays to be pluggin' and saving. (ba dum tish) trimatty471 and shanendoah were back-to-back winners having scored in 2017 also!! With no WIR Savers in the 90% range, the Honorable Mentions go to those in the 80% range: minnesotapaintlady snapdragon and nikiz628 (goal #2) 2018 WIR Savers: As a group, per the final 2018 smiley update, we saved a total of $315,419... which is 55.25% of our goal of $570,926. I am so happy for and proud of this group. Shoutout of gratitude to those who visited to encourage and to share advice and experience. I apologize for any oversights. Please all pat yourselves on the back for being a saver in 2018, and c'mon over to 2019 Savers Thread...more IS merrier.
