legitimate media sources usually offer corrections pretty quick when mistakes show up...Our Donald NEVER , EVER EVEN  on his kids head will he do so...I never watch Fox..really can't speak for their way of handling incorrect information they have let out..will ask say Value...have to believe he will be honest and true on his answer if we get a answer.

Problem for me is, , on major media outlets I don't see "fake News" being given...Very occasionally I see  corrections..have no problem with that..with all the stuff out there some errors can occur..

 I watch CNN....rarely any one else besides NPR radio...and feel am reasonably intelligent and am pretty good in searching out stuff...googling and more...so don't see this so called"fake news" that Trump and his supporters put out..I see many lies by Trump, easily fact checked...really embarrassing for our country actually and he is so blatant and proud of it. 

Any help here...even from those who swing right...?

I would add whether the headline and story is aimed at getting you to think or to feel.

And honestly....are you throwing this red herring out there because trump told you to?

trump is blessed his base is so easily led. the rest of us looking to the next breaking development in what is likely to be the largest us political story of our lifetimes. 

If the media is not the paragon of clear information that we'd hope for - that is a completely different issue and yet I am failing - from your post here - to see an angle that makes is an FBI issue.

Fox news had the conservatives with painfully chaffing and twisted panties for the entirety of obama's terms. Promulgating ridiculous stories about birtherism, being a muslim, etc. etc. ad nauseum. 

So, I think the non-conservative side is going have a much more satisfying conclusion to their inquiries. If this latest development was the end of it and as far as it goes, that would still be true. However, I do expect a bit more to drop and potentially - a lot.

There needs to be a better delineation between 'news' and 'infotainment.'

Usually, the actual journalists on Fox and MSNBC sit behind a desk and do a good job of being impartial and factual, because that's what journalism is supposed to do.

But the talking head parts of MSNBC and FOX, and sites like Brietbart and the Daily Show LOOK like news, and that's where some people actually get most of their news. Unfortunately, it isn't news at all - just a 'take' on news. Someone's very biased distillation of the news.

Maybe we need to require a bright red bar at the bottom of 'infotainment' shows flashing 'Not Actual Journalism' and a bright blue one at the bottom of the real news shows saying "We Promise This Is True Journalism, no Spin or Lies."

There is also a slight, and I admit slight chance, that reporter is what they want to do because they give a heads up to someone on their headline so they can trade on the news, creating possible inside trading information at another trader's monetary expense.

I've taken to yelling at the TV sometimes when they report some scientific discovery and then I go look up the actual source information.  It's like that Geico commercial where the old lady is saying "This isn't how any of this works".

This is what happens when news is driven by rating and the need to fill 24 hours 7 days a week.

The internet is even worse.   Professionals who have spent decades doing the work they do have been snookered by legitimate sounding "journals".   It takes a very very sharp eye to recognize them for what they are.

More and more it's vital we teach future generations how to evaluate source material and we're failing miserably.

I looked up the 4 cases repeated on all the ‘libertarian’ sites... one said you couldn’t DISCRIMINATE in setting up regulations, but the unquoted next passage was basically hell yeah states can regulate. A disclosure that the following broadcast is comprised mostly of opinions and judgement and not simply fact? ... I really don't know. I'd say we need education, but it doesn't seem to matter. The markets were up Friday in anticipation of the Senate voting on the tax package, and then ABC sent out the fake news headline. The markets reversed, and sold off 370 points. Try selling 10 S&P 500 contracts at the high, then buying 10 contracts near the low and see how much money you made in about two hours.

Oh, there is tons of spin by the left wing media. They have left their reporters and political commentators on automatic pilot where everything goes when they report obvious made up stuff about Trump.
I imagine but did not check, Disney stock was probably caught in the downdraft for awhile Friday. Now that one of ABC's own was caught dispensing a whopper, they know they have to dial back for a week or so.

Just checked their stock price yesterday they only dropped a little over a dollar a share at ten am, so they were not caught in the stock sell off, so was wrong on that thought!
