Not sure how to proceed with this one. The only time I've ever heard 'boy' used as a racist quip is when it's used in the singular, and if it's used as an appellation rather than a noun.

Others can comment about their home states. In Canada, I guarantee you that none of the above would be intended as or interpreted as racial epithets.

"Where do you think she got these, boy?", where "boy" is singular, deliberately appended as an appellation, and spoken by a white male to a black male, could possibly be intended as a slur, but even this is extremely unlikely. Perhaps the rules are different for the US.

Mid: now that we know, avoid references to "boys" in future if verrip is included.

verrip: Mid isn't a racist. I'd stake a million dollars on it. The fact that you didn't give him the slightest benefit of the doubt is on your own conscience. For now, I think it's best if everyone just dropped the issue and got back to discussing current affairs.

Verrip1, if what you took I said to be offensive then I'm sorry and apologize. I have been referring for a long time to all involved in rat pack as you boys. My reference to boys if derogatory was meant more in a childish way of how they act at times and by not saying guys or men.

I've never heard that being used as a racist term, but if you say it is then I'll respect that and try to remember that it offends you. The metal gained for the sixth day, the longest winning streak since August. Cash silver rose 1.4 percent to $33.1025 an ounce, the highest level since March 1980, and traded at $33.0163.

Gold is trading within 2.5 percent of its record $1,431.25 an ounce on Dec. 7 after soaring 30 percent in 2010 as investors sought to preserve their wealth against geopolitical risk and rising inflation. Rising food and commodity prices have contributed to uprisings in the Middle East.

Silver advanced to its most expensive level versus gold in 13 years. An ounce of gold bought 42.26 ounces of silver today, around the lowest amount since February 1998. Silver has more than doubled in the past year.

Eleven of 15 traders, investors and analysts surveyed by Bloomberg, or 73 percent, said the metal will rise this week.

Gold and Silver both moving upwards overnight. Prices will continue to climb and the situation around the world continues with the dollar inflation and reserve currency of the world losing it's reserve status.

The bailouts and printing of dollars is more to blame for the chaos that is happening. Best explanation I can give is take a hornets nest, the middle east with various dictators, and people very unhappy. Now take inflation making staples they rely on daily costing too much too afford, and causing hunger, or financial problems in their life. The dollar is like the baseball bat that hit the hornets nest, now it's pissed off. It wasn't the initial problem but it was the source of the tipping point we are now seeing.

Your right Mid there are tiny words, coming from the death to America camp. This loss of reserve currency issue is just the latest in a string of theories as to why the US is finished. He is an interesting thing to think about. Since the Sterling has been replaced as the reserver currency, the FTSE has outperformed the S&P 500, and had Europe not used all of the money that the USA sent it after WW2 to turn into a bunch of socialists, they would have been in way better shape than they are now..
