Why I’m happy? Honestly it’s only part outcomes. It’s just so good to see an intelligent person with integrity who is excellent at their job, go about business... gives me an O vibe... and yes, I heard it, but I’m still going to leave it there...

Glad to see dj has come out of retirement from politics withdrawl. This can only mean we are done with Trump collusion, and we now have Clinton/DNC Russian collusion indictments around the corner. only long enough to give this thread some well earned rot. and i have already said that you can go ahead and draw and quarter Clinton. i never liked her. if you want to get under my skin, you will have to move well beyond the warhorses, who all deserve it, imo.

specify which aspects of this thread you find most hopeful, and so that we can "methink" you, too. The enduring-yet-premature hope that indictments against Manafort et al. will reach all the way to Pres. Trump himself. I understand hope and faith, but I also understood Paul's yearning for Mitt Romney to win the 2012 US election. Consider this a forewarning from an objective third party with no skin in the game and no preference on whether charges are filed or not. I doubt anything will go all the way to Trump, and even if there was clear cut evidence of collusion, a GOP congress will not impeach him.
I'm hoping this will derail his agenda. He was already doing a pretty good job of that himself, with his infighting amongst the GOP members of Congress and his inability to ignore the smallest insult from war widows and NFL players, but if he gets consumed with what Mueller is doing, he won't have time to try to lobby for any of his pet projects. His voters were willing to put up with his crudeness and self congratulatory talk when they thought he could actually make changes that would benefit them, but when he proves to be nothing more than a rude big mouth, he's poison to the GOP in 2018 and toast in 2020. (IF he even runs again - I've seen two different reports from two different people who claim he won't run again in 2020).
Bannon is lobbying Trump to slam back at Mueller, and I hope that Trump once again takes his bad advice and attempts to fire Mueller, because that will backfire spectacularly and put a wooden stake in the heart of the Dark Lord Bannon. Bannon fancies himself as a political guru, the guy who got Trump elected, but if he does convince Trump to move against Mueller, that should finally expose him for what he really is, and he can shrink back into the black hole he sprang from.
And my final hope is that Trump, who has made his living for the last 10 years by selling the Trump name, ends up with such a sullied reputation that he not only can't make the usually big bucks going on speaking tours (as most ex-Presidents do) but ends up losing all his golf clubs and half all his other assets to Melania, who will finally get fed up with his sexist behavior, and he has to go back to selling overpriced steaks, while his kids have to get real jobs in the real world.
Actually, this is my final hope - the GOP sheds all this anti-immigrant, anti-gay, pro-evangelical Christian crap and produces a great fiscally conservative, social liberal candidate that no one will have any qualms voting for. (Well, no one but the anti-gays, anti-immigrant Christian fundamentalists and far left libs).

Geees, and I thought that NK would have been on the list,, The problem is finding a country that won't send you back that is not worse than Country Club Prison where they will be spending time. But since the way thing work at this level they may only spend a couple of month before they will be released because of good behavior!

Since they have plenty of money what keeps them from jumping bail going to Russia in the first place?
They have plenty of friend there!

I don't need 'collusion' to go all the way to Trump. (Although his twitter habit might bite him in the ass...) .... Its likely that Manafort leads to Kushner and Jr though... which is great motivation for Obstruction... which is what I'm banking on being Trump's real boo boo... No one indicts on 'collusion'... its the behavior people who are colluding engage in that earn them indictments. If it happens, you can say you told me so. At present time, from where I'm standing, Mr. Manafort's troubles reaching as far as Pres. Trump looks like Mittmentum 2.0. A lot of hope. A lot of speculation. Not a lot to rest them on.

IMHO, if both parties picked strong moderate leaning candidates and stopped catering to their fringe groups, picking someone with experience and good communication skills, it would be a good race.

Democrats have much more to worry about than Trump

Indeed, but there's also the one junior fellow (his name escapes me) in Pres. Trump's inner campaign circle who was apparently wearing a wire...? Perhaps somebody can clear that up for me.

That would be the Greek guy who pleaded guilty months ago. It is nice the Muelller team kept a secret from leaking and MSNBC AND CNN did not have a clue. This is also their and the DNC "wetdream" that he was wired.

Read that Mueller asked for large bail for both people because he feels they are ripe for fleeing...exremly wealthy...have placed large funds over seas..very comfortable moving around internationally and the potential penalty if convicted according to federal guide lines..10 years for one, 15 years for another..thus pass ports pulled and confined to homes...[no mention of having to wear ankle bracelets...bail 15 million for one, 5 million for another...believe they only have to raise 10% of that if they can get a bondsman to accept the risk of flight...looks like they did..] Personally with all that...wouldn't be shocked if they did flee unless our Donald has reached out to them both [not personally] and guaranteed if found guilty , he will pardon them...[if they can trust him] Possible incarcerated would have been a better solution...even in one of those white collar facilities... i miss the VB who openly criticized Trump. Hey, he is the President we now have, just like the eight years of President Obama. We have to hope it is a successful eight years right, because we can't criticize sitting presidents. that is....uh....unpatriotic? right.

This is just plain sour grapes. *tsk tsk* Yes, yes it is
I'm comfortable calling myself a nasty woman.

If it happens, you can say you told me so. At present time, from where I'm standing, Mr. Manafort's troubles reaching as far as Pres. Trump looks like Mittmentum 2.0. A lot of hope. A lot of speculation. Not a lot to rest them on. The actual charges for Manafort on most of it was before Trump hired him. You know, when he hired the Podesta Group to do work for him. That is why the DNC knew he was dirty. Democrats have much more to worry about than Trump Actually if you check out this link, the charges run from 2006 to at least 2016. According to NPR Manafort didn't hire the Podesta Group until 2012. I think the Group is likely on the hook for improper notifications etc. but probably not the exciting stuff like evading taxes etc. that Manafort has listed in charges against him.

Personally I don't know that this piece has much to do with Trump or the Democrats except for Manafort influencing Trump on policy towards Russia and the Ukraine.

The actual charges for Manafort on most of it was before Trump hired him. You know, when he hired the Podesta Group to do work for him. Indeed, but there's also the one junior fellow (his name escapes me) in Pres. Trump's inner campaign circle who was apparently wearing a wire...? Perhaps somebody can clear that up for me. Yes, Mueller turned a low level campaign worker who apparently sang like a canary.
The documents Mueller released said he was cooperating, and the rumor has been going around that he wore a wire - but I think at this point it's just one of many unfounded rumors.
Perhaps deliberately leaked in order to make other potential targets on the campaign sweat.
I would sweat too, if I was on that campaign. Trump has proven repeatedly he doesn't mind throwing people under the bus. There might be a lot of people who end up as cannon fodder.
Might be different if it was his kids or Jared, though.

We have to hope it is a successful eight years Its already a really long annoying first year. Many of us hope he exits before we need to endure the full three more. I think he's too unpopular to squeak out a win again. Hopefully he'll decide its too hard, costs him too much personally (Trump company bottom line has been hurting), and bluster his way back into the private sector.
