I'm actually encouraged at this point. I think it shows that there are still enough Republicans willing to tell Trump and the far-right to go to hell. The ideological purity that the GOP has tried to enforce for two decades looks dead, and good riddance to it. Trump won't make America great again, but maybe he can make Congress great again. People from both sides united against him. Works for me.

"Massive electoral landslide"! You must be a graduate of Trump Univ!! I think even you on election night saw the number he won by as a landslide. Anything above one vote more than Hillary was the end of the world as you knew it. healthy majority, yes. Landslide, no. Reagan was a landslide.
I don't understand why people keep talking about the election. He won the electoral votes. He's there. I'm not happy about it, but I'm dealing.
I still think he has shit for brains.

And I am happy that while the proposed budget has no funding for the wall, there are no cuts to Planned Parenthood and spending for the NIH is increased by $2B. All good things.

You'll regret it when you see the mushroom cloud from your kitchen window. As long as it doesn't block the view of all his dick moves I'll be fine.

It was the end of the world as you knew it too. You just haven't figured that out - yet. Electorally, there was no landslide. He could not even win the popular vote. Even with the help of the Russians, Assaunge, Comey and Wickileaks. Landslide, my azz. Refresh my memory. How many electoral votes did Trump receive? It was as good of number to totally embarass the Democrats, so it was good enough for me.

I really hate the flurry of news articles about how the Democrats "won" and how they have a renewed confidence that they are going to be able to block the Republican agenda. So they finally came to a compromise and instead of being gracious about it, they are running around bragging and probably making the Republicans regret that they compromised. They are just making things harder for the next time a compromise is needed.

Does not matter because Republicans cannot agree to vote as a block. It is like herding cats. In his tweet he also suggested we have a government shutdown in September when they start the new budget, to accomplish his agenda (my interpretation). Shit, he should have done it this week.

Clinton won with 370 electoral votes in 1992 and Obama with 332 in 2012. I think some folks use the word landslide and mandate incorrectly. As Cookies aptly pointed out 306 is not like 525 (Reagan) or even the high 400s like Johnson.
Don't confuse unexpected victory with landslide. 56% of the electoral votes is a victory, not a landslide.

My guess is someone wisely convinced him not to do it now, and he wants to remind people he could have. I don't see government shutdowns as a plus especially since the last one cost the taxpayers more than if it had stayed working.

Trump's electoral victory was good enough to place him 46 out of 58 elections. Just a normal, run of the mill victory. Shocking, yes. Landslide, not in the least. Hell, Bush I won something like 79% of electors in 1988. Trump won, we accept it. I don't know why he continues to harp on the election. 270 or 470, you're still the president. Move on, dude.

He can't. He's got nothing to move on to. His insecurities won't let him. His need for "approval" and adoration from others FAR outweighs any quality that might possess him to act like a true leader. Even if ANY of his boasts about himself were anywhere close to being true, he would still be the smallest person ever elected. And judging from everything he says on other subjects, one of the dumbest.

He harps on because he's insecure, and he needs the validation. It's why he has campaign rally's rather than town halls and meet and greets. He's not interested in hearing from anyone who challenges what he wants to believe. He won. He's the President. But like many highly insecure people, he's obsessed with being validated.

Holy crap, is this true? Jared Kushner has Soris and Goldman Sachs ties, along with a $1B in loans that he didn't disclose?!
I saw a reference to a story at thehill.com which I'm reading now. But I don't know anything about them as a source.

I knew Kushner had money and connections, but I had no idea how much! No wonder DJ likes him so much. The article has more information as well. I don't think Kushner has done anything wrong- at least not in relation to this- as long as he amends his disclosure papers. But as one person notes in the article, it is better to get in front of this sort of stuff and just let it out. He may be savvy business wise, but it is a rookie political mistake (and also by his attorneys who drafted the disclosure forms) Thank you. That was helpful.

Evidently a few Hillary backers here on the boards, from November 2016. She might have lost the election but she won the popular vote...... your right. Who cares?

The least-qualified president in history certainly seems to care. As do his silly little apologists, whether on this board, the White House briefing room, or other West Wing offices. Anti-Trump voters and posters don't bring it up as anything other than rebuttal or ridicule of Trump's inanities. We know who occupies the Oval Office, and more importantly we know how ridiculous his performance is in it. Do you?

I think it's one thing to say something comforting after your candidate loses, harping on the election you won for months after is a whole other level. I've certainly said my share of shit that doesn't matter when I need to sooth whatever bothers me, but after a while it just doesn't matter anymore. Hence why not as many Hillary supporters are bringing up the popular vote, because it really doesn't matter anymore, but our emotionally (in)secure president needs to constantly bring up his electoral numbers.

Both democrats and Trump keep talking about the election. Democrats keep beating their chests saying "we won the popular vote" and Trump and co say they "we won a historical landslide." As you pointed out, it doesn't matter and there's no point in talking about it. The election has been relegated to the trash heap of history.
That's why I offered criticism of Trump. I only care about the campaign insofar has what he promised and how he's delivering on those promises now (or not delivering, as the case may be).
If he fails to deliver then he SHOULD face criticism. He's the president, and we judge a president on his results, not his promises. Or at least, I do.
