Good luck and speedy recovery!
I had part of thyroid removed 4 weeks ago parathyroid left intact. Home same day, recovery was pretty quick. But frustrated that my voice is only halfway back. I had surgery on a Friday and was back to work Monday. But still hard to talk on the phone and talk in mettings, which are big parts of my job.
I foresee a lot of posts from OC in the near future.

Hurry back! Good luck, and take a couple of photos for us with the cellphone! I'm sure the surgeon has no problem doing that

Best wishes! Rest up & do some quick healing, too. (It's a great excuse to play on your computer, too.)

Thinking of you, OC. I hope all goes well and your recovery is without incident. Improvement in renal function would be a real bonus for you! I'll be looking forward to hearing from you as soon as you're able.

OC ...... don't give the nurses too much grief ........ I understand they can make your stay in hospital as comfortable as possible if you are nice to them.
Take it easy and rest a bit ..........
Thinking of you and your good health

For the record, removal of a parathyroid tumor usually takes about 15 minutes. For a medical procedure/surgery it really is a walk in the park.

The nurse is putting on a smile and giving us the "walk in the park" speech! It's over. Poor coyote's a dead man. R.I.P. oldcoyote, 12/30/1946 - 3/30/2017

I think they were only removing part of it, Something about monitoring calcium levels during surgery. That's what the Endocrinologist said anyway, My concern is that the person doing the ultrasound spent a lot ot time on the lower right side of my throat. The surgery was on the left lowerside

I wouldn't panic. A good surgeon usually checks out the whole surgical area to make sure nothing else is going on. If they didn't mention seeing anything else, you're probably good to go. Glad you came through in flying colors!

I'd think they removed the entire tumor and, perhaps, some of the parathyroid itself. Monitoring the calcium level is always important when surgery is performed in this area. Doesn't sound like anything to be worried about at this point. Your doctor will be able to clear up any concerns you might have. Don't hesitate to ask questions!

Take it easy. Even with a short surgery you still have some stitches (whether they used superglue, thread or staples I don't know) that you don't want to open up. I think the rule of thumb is don't lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk and don't lift a gallon of milk.

My Fitbit says, 15,402 steps, 10 floors, 7.06 miles 4117 cals., 245 Active min. My heart beat was in the exercise zone for 17hr 5min. All that time doing something heavy. Today I'm going to work hard! Yea, I know o.c. is an idiot,

Here one way to get even for Old Coyotes telling OFF COLOR nurse joke in Pre-Op. Urinary Cauterization,,, It must have not worked well, first thing after I woke up I needed a bottle, When I started the flow, it felt like someone had used a red hot rod on me, I am still a little sore there this morning!! No, I didn't tell any nurse jokes.

It usually disappears pretty quickly. Thing is, we can't have you lying in a puddle of pee during surgery! It's a shock risk! Hope you're feeling better now and back to your ornery self!
