I did duck and cover for the last 8 years. I worried that we, as a country, were headed in the wrong direction but I always figured I could weather it. Agreed, but all we needed was a good night's sleep, and we were ready to go the next day holding discussions on our beliefs. This year, now that the shoe is on the other foot, the resulting tantrums and attacks against Republican values are without boundaries. Upon thinking about it the Democrats are just doing what they have been doing for thirty years. Trying to make America a third world socialist society. ...................

Shit, half the Republican party tried to take him down a year ago. Nothing new there Since your from Maine I would expect nothing less than not being depressed easily. It is the special snowflake group that is over the edge Deminmaine seems like a pretty reasonable democrat, part of the old "blue dog" school of thought. I wish there were more democrats like him. Most of us are similar.
If you would talk with us instead of telling us what we think, you might learn something.

I am not a Democrat. I am pretty conservative. I find Trump to be appalling for his lack of experience, lack of self-control, and lack of ethics and morality.

Pretty much all I've been seeing since the election is blind hatred and opposition to anything Trump, comparing him to a dictator, or Hirler. It's admittedly difficult to find common ground or have a nuanced discussion with anyone who thinks like this. But you're right in that most people on this board are reasonable.

sweeping the nation that is affecting many Democrats and liberals across the world as well as many of the board members. Doctors have coined the phrase: It is PESD Post Election Stress Disorder. Seems it is a correct diagnosis. I have not seen what correct dosage of a strong antidepressant will now be prescribed to bring them back to reality. And yes, it was on the news this morning. At least the part of PESD laughing at your delusions should cheer them right up. edit: it certainly works for me.

I am no expert on stocks, but based on P/E stocks are over valued right now, as they were when Obama left office. It's only gotten more so the last few weeks. It has been a nice ride, but I wouldn't expect it to continue to climb much longer. I so wanted to like this post, but then I do not think the ride will end soon. Depends on whether he can get the tax changes made soon, imo stock market growth has nothing to do with tax policy.

As long as they get SSDI or other govt subsidies, they will be fine. This special snowflake suffers from depression, but I manage to still go to work, and have private insurance that pays my prescription.
Knock off the hate.
Aren't you in the medical profession? I'm sure your patients would be happy to hear you speak of them this way.
Good points swamp. It's really just the next step with all those hyper emotional words used to describe the protesters or anyone really not excited about trump. I think it stems from genuine apprehension on the right, so they vilify by attributing mass hysteria, depression, etc. Trump is actually driving a schism in the GOP that will likely last decades, perhaps finally yielding a viable 3rd party of true fiscal conservatives with social liberal/individual rights as a priority. It's very interesting to watch this unfold from an academic perspective. I am not unaware of the potential for disaster of course, but I did my due diligence, voted my conscience and will continue to do so, will support just causes as I can. But I hope that our system is strong enough to weather this test of democracy and first amendment challenge. This is exactly the situation that they set us up to overcome.

DT is a flash in the toilet pan, normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

You did what the thread's author should have done in the first place with his opening post. Thank you for the links. VB did site the morning news as his source. So I think he covered the requirement. His post was no better or worse than some of the threads I've seen that are started with: I think that people tend to get picky about sources depending on if they do or don't agree with the post.

I think when Trump announces his tax plan the market will get another jolt, and then I think it will begin a long correction. I am very tempted to sell if the tax plan jolt does happen. I don't think I will, but definitely tempted.
I'm concerned how Trump will react in a Cuban Missle Crisis type scenario. I can see him having a knee jerk reaction that leads to nuclear holocaust. I have not had that concern with any other president in my lifetime. Hopefully another Vasili Arkhipov saves the world again.

Using the word " plan " in anything to do with DT is technically an oxymoron if his business plans are any judge, 6 times saved by chapter 11 is proof enough.

Concern I already have is how much we're paying for all of his weekends away from DC. Don't even want to think what the total could be. Financially responsible, indeed!)

Hey hey hey OBAMA That is all I win, thanks for playing. Obama spent more time on the golf course. Rounds paid for by Soros and the US taxpayers.
The fake news tells me that Obama spent about $12M in 2016. Trump has already spent about $11M. But it can't be true because of Obama, Benghazi, and emails.

Form an new corporation to build something with investor money. Don't pay your vendors. Take huge draws for yourself. Default on the loan.
I blame the investors for being idiots, because it's good work if you can get it.

I'm depressed now after reading this thread. Which part do you find depressing?
It depresses me that we keep getting threads such as "democrats are," "liberals think" and "conservatives believe."
STOP TELLING EVERYONE HOW THEY THINK. HOW FUCKING HARD IS IT?
Yes, I know that as humans we want to assign everyone into little labeled boxes, but it doesnt' work that way.

As far as Republicans wanting to take him down....do we have any evidence? I see most of them falling into line. They may say a couple things here and there to show their constituents they are not in the bag, but none of them have actually caused any real interruption.
I think DT made a lot of deals to get where he is. I think there are a bunch of people who have to stay in line to get what they were promised.
I have been wondering what will have to happen for the GOP in Congress to stop rubber stamping all of his decisions. I guess it will be a slow desent of people who realize he can't fulfill all those promises.

I find it depressing that we seem to think that anyone who doesn't agree with us has to have some sort of mental or psychiatric deficiency. I find it depressing that people seem to think that if we are conservative, we agree with every conservative issue; and vice-versa. I find it depressing that we all try to one-up one another in saying how deranged one another is. I find it depressing that we can't have useful conversation because of all this nonsense.

It's stupid.
I'm also beginning to think a few of them lack the capacity for complex, critical thought.

For example: The coal miners in WV who voted for him because he's going to "bring back coal." We all know that is something he can't do. However, he can repeal Obamacare and leave them without health insurance.
